In the two years of Trump has been president I have lost count of how many disastrous weeks he has had. Almost always they have been self inflicted disasters. The past week may well be his worst week to date.

Lets explore what he managed to achieve in the past 7 days.

For the third time this year Trump has caused a government shutdown. Sure shutdowns do happen, but not when the President’s party controls both the House and Senate. This statistic will likely be worthy of an entry in the Guinness book of records. The shutdown has an immediate effect of 900,000 government employees, some will be expected to work for free, others get to enjoy a vacation with no pay. So no HO HO HO for almost 25% of government workers.

Another winning move was lets pull the troops out of Syria and apparently is looking at a draw down of troops in Afghanistan. The only world leader supporting this move is Vladamir Putin. With the US out of Syria, Vlad will be free to do what he wishes in the region. The Kurds feel hung out to dry and I doubt they will ever want to partner with the US again. Will ISIS regroup? Yes is the probable answer.

The short term effect of this stupid decision was that Jim Mattis Secretary of Defense resigned, the letter he penned was a rather scathing rebuke of Trump and his ideas. It is a shame that Mattis took this step, he was the last adult running the Daycare.

Also quick to get out of Dodge was Brett McGurk, the U.S. envoy for the global coalition to defeat the Islamic State group (ISIS).

In his usual cavalier manner Trump had this to say “Brett McGurk, who I do not know, was appointed by President Obama in 2015. Was supposed to leave in February but he just resigned prior to leaving. Grandstander?” Trump tweeted. “The Fake News is making such a big deal about this nothing event!”

This is a strange thing to say, Trump claims to know what is going on in Syria, but knows nothing about Brett McGurk? What Trump fails to say that McGurk originally was appointed by George W Bush as Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Iraq and Afghanistan But this is the post truth era, so who cares?

The Stock Market also took a beating, December is all set to be the worst month in over a decade. While many may think they are immune from the antics of Wall Street the truth is, no one does well if the markets are in the toilet. Trump wants to blame the Federal Reserve, but the real culprit is the various tariff wars that Trump is waging.

The Trump Foundation announced it was closing due to alleged improprieties, which will lead to time in court.

The Mueller probe seems to be closing in on Trumps inner circle. This is rather like Watergate in slo mo.

I am sure that I have missed some of last weeks Trump-ups, he has so many that it is impossible to keep up with them all.
