<description>As pertains to the 1918 pandemic I have been reading many opinions from many sites, and no one is talking about the 'barn' type environment that were the battle field of Europe. WARNING: this is gross--&#62; Men were living in holes in the earth that filled to there knees with water; that water was seeping from the ground around that contained in many cases 10's of thousands of decaying bodies; rats who's population was exploding, ate these dead and the living also(due to the demographics of population increase). This was un doubtedly(In my mind) where the species jump occured. The men in the trenches either died of the desease or did not, becoming carriers; thus at the end of the war as troops shipped home, state-side hospitals treating the injured vets, as the story goes, saw the first instances of the pandemic.

The EXTRODINARY conditions on the front in WWll lead to a quick species jump; animal husbandry like that of Indonesia has been standard for 20,000 years.

I don't see what all the fuss is about.
