What a great find! I was but a teenager when Vanilla Fudge formed in 1966. The Fudge are a band with a checkered history, they were famous, but no one knows why. They were almost the Kardashians of the rock world, they penned almost zero original materiel instead preferring rather dark covers of popular songs, Neil Diamond, Donovan, and Jim Morrison to name but a few.

For those of you interested in the rise and fall of Vanilla Fudge I suggest you take a look at their Wikipedea page, for those preferring the thumbnail sketch 66-70 and out!

After decades of ‘not much’ in 2016 they were persuaded to reunite and play a Swedish Rock festival. I was not surprised by the location, Europe has long held the rock and prog crown, while the US drowns in an ocean of country crap.

I really enjoyed this trip down memory lane, the DVD concert recorded live is 120 mins of rock till you drop.

At the time I have to admit that I had little time for Vanilla Fudge, what was so good about performing covers? Age has mellowed me, they are not covers, the are reinventions of music.
