I have had temporomandibular disorder for 12 years and well at first aspirin did help. Over the years it has worsened and I have been prescribed Celebrex, naproxen, bextra, loratab and most recently I had the worse flare up to date: which has left me on mobic 7.5 and flexeril 5mg. I also have had knee surgery and although the tears were replaced I have arthritis in them that just aches something awful. After my last flare up with TMJ I started doing some research on my options, the pain is becoming unbearable and is affecting my life, I found there is no cure and very little treatment other than pain control (pills and shots) well after taking these pills for some time I returned to the Dr for a routine blood test and my liver enzymes were very high. you can imagine my surprise when the dr explained how these meds can affect my organs. A friend of mine who lives out of state suggested medical marijuana so illegally, thanks to these backwoods laws, I tried a few puffs and found much relief : I was able to eat STEAK! I am not saying it was a cure but it was the best relief I have found to date. Unfortunately it is still illegal and the job I work for has random testing. I am found in a place where I am stuck coping. I refuse to continue swallowing those pills esp now that i no the damage they cause and quite frankly I am amazed the pills are legal and get a thumbs up when marijuana < a natural plant : is illegal. in a LONG time.the research has been done,it has been proven.the only problem is the state and federal gov, thinks it will lose to much money and look like idiots for the 1937 ban they implaced to outlaw it to try to get the migrant workers they brought in out!15 yrs ago i was hurt.i cannot work i am still fighting for my disability,my wife makes to much for me to get medicaid.i was under workmans comp then and oh boy did the docs give me pills.ocys,loratab,tylox,morphine a bunch.all they did was create an addict out of me.i didnt know my name half the time.when the workmans comp went out i was left with no scripts nothing but an addiction.so i did what addicts do{im not proud of it by any means}.then i got tired of not being able to be around my children and family due to my actions.so i got off the pills and just lived with the pain.they have since tried to make me an addict yet again an i refuse.now i take my chances and self medicate.my pain is still there yes but in no way as bad as it used to be.my quality of life is ten fold what it was when i was on there meds.they also say that south Carolina is the bible belt and that 220 will never go into effect here for that reason.this creates a dilemma for me as i am a firm believer in god.i want to know why if we are the "bible belt" why we would not push for 220 harder?it would make more sense to me to push for a natural remedy for so many aliments than keep buying in to the man made ones that are unproven and dangerous [watch your t.v. and see all the lawyers ads for meds that cause harm of death].i for one have had enough with the discrimination against this wonderful plant that has so many uses.in todays economy do they not see how much revenue they are losing to stupidity?in 1996 3 years after the introduction of prop 215 in CA. there was over 1 billion dollars generated to that trade alone.how stupid is our state government.do they not know how many jobs that would create?how many tax dollars they could get there greedy little hands on?im not asking for decriminalization.however i do believe they should.the laws in place in the legal states are doing fine,and there governments are reaping the rewards in fistfuls of money from it.so hey Governor Sanford whats the problem here?with all your political problems that you created why not take a stand with us the ppl and get some of your I hate doing anything illegal but when it comes to the way I feel both physically and mentally I will have to take my chance. I would hope no judges would convict someone who use it by themselves without selling it to help illnesses we have no control over. It would be so much cheaper to just smoke cannabis than take these pills all day, just in case nausea strikes. One cannabis "joint" contains about 100mg of thc. 100mg of THC would cost around 300 dollars from the pharmacy, and it may just come up with puking. A joint can be inhaled, much cheaper, and works quickly. Now that marijuana is much stronger than it used to be it is much safer as you do not have to smoke as much as you used to. Propaganda people try to convince the public that now that it is stronger it is more dangerous, logic shows that truth is contrary to that. Less smoke is needed for the same effect. And if smoke is what bothers people there are always "vaporizers", machines that allow the thc to be steamed off without combustion/smoke. I served my country and will die in pain, as well as many other upstanding americans that can't get what they need. It leaves us with no choice but to commit illegal acts to get our medicine. What's right and just about that? It's socially acceptable to drink yourself to the point of intoxication or take some pills that eat your liver and zombify you. It's ok to get Medicinal Marijuana if you live in one of the chosen states, but for living in a state where our reps and other politicians don't express OUR best interest we get to Suffer. It comes down to this. It took William Mescher a man who watched his beloved wife suffer for 20 years with cancer before s.220 was introduced. Unfortunately when he died so did s.220 and apparently its going to take another politican being the victim or personal loss to move forward. most politicians won’t touch this subject for the fear of losing a chance to line their pockets.
