Our good allies in Saudi Arabia routinely confiscate and destroy Christian, Buddhist, Hindu and other holy texts at their airport - and barely a word of protest is heard from any Western intellectual or politician. A few copies of the Koran are desecrated at an American university and wishy-washy liberals take on the Islamist mantle and actively challenge freedom of opinion and speech. Insistence on religious tolerance and respect means nothing if it is applied and policed in such a selective and one-sided manner. The odd thing is that Islamists can hardly be accused of hiding their disdain for both other religions and most of our secular democratic values. Look at their websites. They explicitly tell us that we are inferior, diabolical and worthy only of being destroyed. They openly articulate the Islamist mission of spreading the muslim religion to every corner of the earth and enforcing it through sharia law. They proudly spout anti-semitic sentiments of the kind espoused so eloquently by Ahmedinejad and his ilk. They make no apologies for the beheadings and bombings committed in the name of global jihad, responding with the peurile equivalent of "well, what did you expect?" And yet they demand the protection and support of the very system they conspire to destroy. This is more than an example of political correctness. It's an example of political stupidity and - worse - a refusal to acknowledge the obvious threat posed by the Islamist agenda. Odd, isn’t it.
