For the past year or so I have been involved in the world of Bail Bonds and Bounty Hunting. Oh don’t get me wrong, my interest is purely academic. I had to admit that my knowledge of bounty hunting was zero, but it didn’t long to figure out that TV’s Dog The Bounty Hunter was about as valid as a three day old donut. Real hunters are not plonkers that ponce around with cans of pepper spray and wear hair extensions.
The real thing is a very different beast. They are intelligent and deep thinkers. The job of bounty hunting is largely hours of tedium combined with seconds of terror. That is not to say that it is not without humor and OHOH moments.
A Bounty Hunter in California, Jason Pollock is working on a book. I had the good fortune to see an early draft, for the most part it is a rather dry and very serious treatise about a complex subject. A must read for someone considering a career in the industry, but unlikely to be a big hit with the ‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’ fans. However, buried in the book are some anecdotes that I think everyone might enjoy.
Yes I plead guilty to the charge of doing a little editing, I love good stories and these are some of the best I have read in a long time.
I am going to start with one I titled Clothes Maketh The Man.
Jason Pollock has been in the bail bond and recovery agent field since 1999, he calls LA home and can be reached through his web site http://www.suretyriskmanagement.com/
