The dengue outbreak in India has so far claimed the lives of 55 people across the country and more cases of this deadly tropical disease are reported every day. Dengue, a viral disease transmitted by the mosquito Aedes aegypti, is characterized by sudden onset of fever, severe head ache and joint pains and this disease could turn fatal, if not treated properly.

 

Dengue outbreaks are not new to India, and it keeps happening every year killing many people across the northern part of the country. In this recent outbreak, New Delhi the capital city of the nation is the worst affected, with more than 20 odd people falling a prey to this disease. Health workers across the capital are now trying to control the spread of this disease by spraying pesticides in the crowded neighborhoods of the city. Clearing the breeding grounds of the Aedes aegypti mosquito is the best option to prevent the spread of this disease.
