WHEN BAD DEEDS CAN LONGER BE CONTAIN IN ONES HEAD… THEN WHAT?

Then the only remedy to this painful and slow suffering is that… there is no remedy. I am sure Sana was expecting me to name that magic pill that he was so long been awaiting for, but just like Aids there is no magic cure and unlike the latter no anti-retroviral either. However nature has to take its cause through a therapeutic process known in mandingka as “Jaburr or Jafurr”. But legend has it, once the process starts; death becomes the ultimate silencer to the sufferer. Indeed reading Sana’s articles, one cannot fail to notice the agony the guy is going through in order to make his case. Thus we should all be bracing ourselves for more revelations from Sana albeit in drips and drabs, as Sana himself subconsciously admitted… “We have to climb the ladder by taking one rung after the other until we get there someday”

Hence I am left with no doubt that the author/s of both letters (Nov 11 1994-IT WAS A VERY DANGEROUS PLOT!!! IT WAS SUICIDAL from  an anonymous officer of GNA and November 11 Coupists Planned To Kill Council Members And Their Families), in which both were glorifying and justifying the November 11TH massacre- is one and the same Sana Sabally. And if you are not convinced by now, here are some points worth considering!

First let’s unpack the letters: Sana started by playing smart, saying “I last evening received an Email “Nov 11 1994-IT WAS A VERY DANGEROUS PLOT!!! IT WAS SUICIDAL!!! from an anonymous officer of GNA” Why would someone take the trouble of emailing Sana about matters that has (Sana’s) name written all over it? I stand to be corrected here, but the last time I’ve checked, I don’t think Sana was running a media house.

Ironically, the so called “officer” even manages to beat him to all the media houses as Sana claims: I wanted to forward this to your paper but I found you’ve already gotten it” what a theatrical performance. He needed a stage to perform, and what a better way to get one, even Borat couldn’t do better.
Decoy one:  “The Trinity” me, myself and I .Sana has to start somewhere without blowing his cover, oh so he thought, by making a case of dubious merit: “The said officer I have no doubt was present as he claimed. Well, he spoke some Truth but not all”. This then beg the question: why was Sana convinced that the officer was present and that there was some truth but not the whole truth? Answer: because he (the me) and the officer are one and the same, only this time it make way for the second character (the myself) to come in and continue the story. And to complete the trilogy, Sana then went further and wrote: “Having read this article, (I) felt (I) should write this little” and little did he write. In fact the guys raise more questions than ever before. Rather than saying what really happened, he dived into his usual sermons. If my memory serves me right, I can’t remember reading it from any of the Holy Scriptures that a “messiah” shall be sent unto the people of The Gambia. So please Sana, spare us your religious rhetoric that has no relevance to the topics under discussion.

For example, how does the following statement: “By means of it (The Truth), the blind shall see, the deaf shall hear, the dumb shall speak, the lame and the halt shall walk and Allah shall so bless it, that it shall succeed in fulfilling the object of “rewriting history.” Do Thou, O Lord, ordain that it be so”, help in your justification of the November 11th atrocities?

Well If you are not too sure where to start, then here are some few questions to help jog your memory:
What did you personally know then, and how did you react to it?Who were involved in the so called self defense battle and where did it happened?
When did you realise that the battle has being won?
You claimed they attacked you, how did that happened?
Indeed you demanded “O Gambians!  Lend me an attractive ear”, this we will gladly do, if you start answering these questions and more, but remember, no preaching please. The burden of proof lays on you to give us reasons why we should listen to you today?  What compel me more into writing this piece was, instead of answering Yankuba Jambang’s short and precise questions you replied with a poem written 10 years ago and boy did I nearly put my head through the concrete wall.
Finally you wrote “By your asking [about Nov 11], you are merely “reminding the Nov 11 betrayers and cowards their humiliation and sorrow”. At this point, my concerns were confirmed… that is, you have lost the plot. Tell me, do you mean we are causing you trouble by asking questions about 11/11 or the “betrayers”, because if I understand you clearly you have killed them all, deduce from your this statement “What do you expect us to do- fold our arms and be herded to the gallows? Oh no, not in the slightest, but may be you can tell us how the “betrayers” manage to deceive themselves and how knowing the truth will cause us trouble? And if you don’t, (no vague and unsubstantiated claims
Please) we will be left with no option but to listen to the wise man who says “ask and you shall be given”
Remember our ears are all yours captain!!!  Small country big people.

Yakat  was termed as a liability to his family. He hate to work. His life is to walk around to gossip people round the clock. Yakat hardly says good things about people. Our town folks call him Yakat Wahkat. My first encounter with him was during a meeting held by Kingjifija of Jollofland. He told me that king was after his favorite. Call him a jealous man, you make no mistake. Yakat changes women  just like his pants. Kingfijafa told me not to listen to Yakat. He says Yakat was a pathological liar who would sell his person just to survive. Oh yes! I remarked…

The next day Yakat took me round his orchard. Yakat told me that he was named the “farmer of the year.” by the Governor of Gambisara. I was impressed by his farming techniques and the way he transformed the village into a real forest. When I started asking how he succeeded to be become the first farmer in Kerrmundombay, Yakat remarked” Fabruama this is my village. You need to listen to me to get what you want. Don’t listen to the Governor Jobot. He knows nothing.” I replied in the affirmative.

As a stranger in Gambisara, I must confess that Yakat in a span of two weeks taught me things that I  never learned in Jollofland. It was just interesting to meet such a “Jaliba” in Gambisara. He pretends to know everything on this universe.

When Kenbugud saw me at Yakat orchard he was shocked. Hey… What are you doing here? Hey what are you doing here? I told him that I was just trying to have an ideaabout what goes on in Gambisara. Kenbugud then shook his head and said I will talk to you later… As I returned home, I met Kenbugud at the sitting room waiting for me. These were his words.”Farburama, watch who you talk to in Gambisara. Yakat is lonely because of his bad attitude. Many villagers run away from him. He toured the village looking out for people to hang out with. If you heed to my advise, my brother you will not regret it tomorrow. Try and avoid Yakat as much as possible. The whole village cannot be wrong. When everyone spit at you, then something is wrong with you. Yakat lied a lot and hardly keeps friends. Within a time, you will know what I’m telling you.”

There and then I started avoiding Yakat Samboujang. The phone rang and I rush to pick it up. “Hello, can I be on to Famurama? It’s Yakat. I remarked. Yes, this is Famburama. Are you ready? I’m set to go the orchard. I retorted” Yakat, I’m kind of busy right now. I cannot make it. Yakat hates to hear my statement. Look Faburama, you got to be here or else, I  will change my mind on helping you to be a good farmer. I have been very magnanimous with you. Many “Surugas” from Guinea when they come here they have to pay me for consultation fee. I’m being nice with you.”he said.

Yakat later fall out with Farburama. He issued an order not to get closer to his orchard. He notified the local Governor about his move and vowed to damage him by any means. Yakat told our town folks that Famburama was going to suffer in Gambisara since he refuses to listen to him. At some point he told ‘MamJelleh” that Famburama was likely to see the governor on “serious” official matters.

Famburama was the type of person who never lost faith in God. Interestingly, Famburama later becomes a hero in Gambisara. The Governor allocated him with a plot of land to farm. He later became the farmer of the year in Gambisara. Guess what, Yakat became jealous. Yakat spent his life on gossiping and lying. Farburama is today running his farm without Yakat’s bad mouthing. May God save us from the likes of Yakat.
