The mother of a missing 7 week old baby has been arrested in Memphis, Tennessee and charged with abuse and neglect of the baby this morning. The police say that the mother, 33 year old Andrea Walker is being charged with two counts of aggravated child abuse and two counts of neglect or endangerment the day after her daughter, Aniston Walker was reported missing.
Reports say the mother claims he left the baby alone at home with a 3 year old child while she took her 5 year old child to school. Claiming to have been gone for only 30 minutes, when she returned the baby was missing. She also said the house was still locked up and there were no signs of where anyone had broken into the home.
Instead of calling the police Andrea called the baby’s father and her mother and then once again left the house, leaving the three year old alone while she went to several other places for about an hour. In the meantime the baby’s father called the police to report the child missing.
The baby is feared to be in grave danger because of the cold temperatures there and they fear that she may be suffering from bodily injury. When she was last seen she was wearing a brown onesie with football emblems on it. She has brown eyes and she only weighs about 10 pounds.
The police are currently conducting a search for the child in the neighborhood where the baby lived, searching though trash bins and backyards. They have searched a nearby pond and wooded area but haven’t found her. They considered searching the landfill where the garbage is dumped but there has been no garbage pickup since the baby was last seen.
The neighborhood is a subdivision south of Barlett near Raleigh-Lagrange and Barlett Road. It is an area of modest homes with several empty lots and ongoing construction. There are houses still under construction that have been searched. Police have searched an unfinished garage on a house across the street from Aniston’s home. They went through the home several times and investigators have walked through the garage and have searched underneath a pile of building materials that were in front of the garage.
The other two children ages 3 and 6 are now with members of the family.
The police are asking if anyone knows anything about the whereabouts of this little child to please contact the authorities at (901) 545-2677.
I pray that this baby is alive and well. She does need to be found though.
