OK going shopping is something just about every woman I know enjoys, although I do know a few that hate it. Personally an hour or so is good for me these days, but by then I am exhausted and would be happy to go home and rest. But I can honestly say that most men I know absolutely hate shopping hour after hour.
Apparently a 38 year old man could only be pushed for so long with shopping along with his girlfriend at a mall in Xuzhou, Jiangsu province, east China. Supposedly Tao Hsiao had been tagging along from one store to another in the mall for about 5 hours til he just had enough. They already had more bags than they could carry.
When his girlfriend wanted to go to one more shop that had shoes on sale, an argument started up that ongoing shoppers overheard as well. One witness stated that he told the girlfriend that she already had enough shoes. In fact she had more than she could wear in a lifetime and it would be pointless for her to buy more.
The girlfriend wasn’t happy about that and she started yelling at him, accusing him of being a skinflint and said he was only trying to spoil her Christmas for her.
As the argument got really heated, Hsiao got so fed up that he threw the bags he was carrying onto the floor and then he literally threw himself over the balcony where he fell seven stories, killing himself upon impact the moment he hit the bottom floor. A spokesman for the mall said:
His body was removed fairly quickly. He actually landed on one of the stalls below and then fell to the floor so although the store was damaged it meant he didn’t hit anybody.
This is a tragic incident, but this time of year can be very stressful for many people.
OK I can understand the stress part but why didn’t he just tell his girlfriend a flat “no” and just leave her there if she didn’t want to go. Sometimes I just don’t understand the things some people do. I also wonder if the girlfriend went to the store and bought more shoes anyway, since she was so determined to begin with to do. Was one more pair of shoes really that important that a man had to take his life over it? I would think not.
