Many of you have seen this, but I had to weigh in. Rosie O’Donnell dropped the cultural silverware recently and has caused quite a stir.

What irks me is that Rosie expects the Chinese to just get over it because, after all, she has a right to trash anyone because she is a comic. But, she is an outpoken critic of anyone who gets within a unwashed hand of homophobia:

The Asian-American Journalists Association said, “We consider this a mockery of the Chinese language and, in effect, a perpetration of stereotypes of Asian-Americans as foreigners or second-class citizens. The use of the distorted phrases is insulting to the Chinese and Chinese-Americans, and gives the impression that they are a group that is substandard to English-speaking people.” And the backlash begins:

A representative for O’Donnell said, “She’s a comedian in addition to being a talk show co-host. I certainly hope that one day they will be able to grasp her humor.” Ya, it was pretty sophisticated stuff–reminds me of Firesign Theatre….
