While researching the growth of neo-atheism I recently and reluctantly read "The God Delusion." I fully agree with John that the book is not of reason, but one of hate. Dawkins does not have any useful knowledge, experience, nor education of religions, and the book well illustrates the lack of qualifications. Neo-atheism, and the book also, claims that atheists are more intelligent than theists, and yet in the real world scientific research continues to validate that aggressiveness and intelligence are inversely related. "The God Delusion" is aggressive, and hatefully so.

Thank you for the good article.

While that may be your opinion, I feel that the book should have at the least followed through some of the more important arguments instead of presenting premises that have a logical gap with the conclusion. All in, the religious won't like it, the antitheists will. Which makes many intellectual discussions about its value degenerate rather quickly.

The author of this article claims that Dawkins struggles between his reason and irrational hate. I saw no such thing in the book. It was solid in reason and to spend time explaining every point he alluded to in the book would have taken volumes.
