With stabilized trends now available for all the 223 constituencies, it appears that Congress may ultimately cross 112 seats which is  the required number for forming the Government.

The latest (Final) position provide 121 seats for Congress, 40 for JDS and 40 for BJP. KJP has won in 6 and BSRC in 4. Others have won in 12 seats.

But with the  loss of G Parameshwar, one prominent CM candidate is out of the fray. The natural choice therefore is Mr Siddarame Gowda. The Challenge would be from Mr Kharge and/or Veerappa Moily on the strength of the gains made in the Northern Karnataka belt. But ultimately it is only fair to expect that Siddaramaiah should get the option to be the CM. He is considered a good administrator and may be a better bet than many other aspirants.

Congratulations and good luck to Mr Siddaramaiah.
