Gene Callahan has written an explanation of how, exactly, the USA has become a fascist state. This is worth reading, especially since he takes into consideration the arguments on both sides, including explanations of how those in power are distorting the arguments with fallacious hyperbole. He also points out some parallels with a kind of sarcasm I think lets American history off the hook for its own transgressions. His transition to elements of Nazism as an implication of current administrative evil under the executive forgets very important historical events like Japanese internment that occurred during World War II.

Regardless, Callahan explores some important truths that need to permeate the American conscious on a much more pervasive level. Americans must realize the dangers we face not just from those intent on destroying our freedom from the outside, but those who are doing the same thing from within.
