A new study has found that Children who were breast fed are more intelligent than those children who were bottle fed, but the content of the milk they receive has nothing to do with their intelligence. Researchers in the United States who analyzed data collected from more than 5000 children and 3000 mothers in the United States found that the intelligence of the children who are breast fed depends on the intelligence of their mothers.

The study showed that the intelligence of the child is determined by genetic and environmental factors and not by breastfeeding as thought earlier. Children, who were breastfed fared well in IQ tests, because their mothers were more intelligent, better educated and were able to provide a more conducive home environment. However, one of the authors of the study said that breastfeeding has many advantages, even though it has nothing to do with a child’s intelligence, as it develops a stronger bond between the mother and the child and reduces the risk of respiratory diseases and allergies.
