I never heard of Milton Friedman until much later than most probably do.   He was the first person to articulate something really simple that blew my mind.
Freedom equals choice.  Choice equals freedom.
This country was founded on the idea of freedom, that as long as we do what we say we’re going to do (contracts) and don’t infringe on other people’s rights or property, we are free to do as we please.  That includes doing things that are stupid or misguided.
