Most people think "depression" is purely some form of sickness, like oh you caught the depression bug that's going around this time of year, go get a happy-vaccination and you should be fine. People can't seem to wrap their minds around the fact that most major depression is caused because of events in a person's life, and if those events are resolved, then the depression goes away. Yet we treat the symptoms and let the underlying cause run rampant. People usually know what they need to do to be happy, but the depression comes into play because they believe that what they need to do is impossible for them to do, hence getting them stuck in a neverending cycle of despair. Happy-pills only go so far.
