Author Dan Collins has just published his first book The Little Candle. Although at face value it is a childrens illustrated story, skulking beneath the veneer is a message that is relevant to both young and old. You can find my review here.
I exchanged some emails with Dan and was delighted when he agreed to take part in my radio series The Week In Reviews. I enjoy interviewing authors, I find that it gives depth and perception to the book they have created.
For many years I have maintained the position that regardless of the subject matter, a book tells much about the author who created it. You could say that a book contains traces of the Authors DNA. In the case of Dan Collins I had created a profile of a man that melded complexity with simplicity, someone with the unique ability to break down a complex subject into its component parts and reassemble it in a way that made it approachable to everyone, I also suspected that he did this at a high energy level. I was right! This guy makes the Large Hauldron Collider look like a kids toy!
His enthusiasm is infectious, when you talk to him you just cannot help but be pulled in. Dan takes life head on. He reminds me of a good friend, who shall remain nameless, that I refer to as the Energizer Bunny, Dan is Bunny 2.0!
