There is little doubt that Belgium film maker Michael Roskam has hit the big time. To have a film nominated for an Oscar is every film makers dream, but for a first time director to hit these heights is a rare feat.
I am not usually a fan of subtitled films, I like many film fans are just too lazy to have to read the subtitles! But Bullhead is well worth the effort. The storyline is dark and brooding. Michael Roskam takes the viewer on a journey not soon forgotten. I was lucky enough to get a sneak peek at Bullhead recently, and you can find my first impressions here.
With the Oscars merely a few days away, Michael Roskam is obviously a man much in demand. He has kindly offered to do an interview with me later today. I do hope that you will tune in, to listen live, please use this link. The program is scheduled to air at 5pm Pacific, 8pm Eastern.
Also joining on the program will be Charlie Boswell the Director Of Digital Entertainment for chip maker AMD.
So what is does a Computer company have to do with a Belgium Director? It is a good question, but I have the answer.
The Fantastic Fest Next Wave Award was one of 25 that Michael Roskam picked up on the international film festival circuit. AMD is no stranger to the film making world and Charlie Boswell is right at the pointy end of that arrow.
For those of you not familiar with Bullhead, it is currently showing in New York, Austin, and Los Angeles. I have high hopes that this limited release will expand dramatically after the Oscars are handed out.
To give you a glimpse of the movie here is a short trailer.
