We will be running our regular Saturday radio program Surviving The 21st Century at 1pm eastern on Aug/20. Joining me in the quest to unravel the current state of health and nutrition in our country, and indeed around the globe will be the writing and research team of Mannie Barling and Ashley F. Brooks.
One thing has become very clear to me over the past year of my research, Food and Health are very closely linked items. It would be a gross over simplification to say Good Food = Good Health, and that Bad Food = Poor Health, it is far more complex, However it is a very good starting point.
Old sayings such as ‘An army marches on it’s stomach’, or ‘You are what you eat’ actually contain great insight. A well nourished soldier does indeed perform better than one living under starvation situations. Equally ‘You are what you eat’ can be found in the Olympic Games. A large part of the training regime for athletes is diet and nutrition. I doubt that many 100yd sprinters include Big Mac’s, Fries, and a super-sized cola in their training diet.
There is little doubt, in fact zero doubt, that the food we eat today is far different from the food of 30 or 40 years ago. There is also little doubt that the health profile of our population has changed. There is a marked increase in Cancer, a marked increase in Autism, and in fact a marked increase in just about everything other than health and longevity.
I do hope that you join Mannie, Ashley, and myself as we explore some of the aspects of the problem on Surviving The 21st Century.
