On today’s program we were down a panel member, Ashley F. Brooks. However Mannie Barling and I were not deterred. We plowed on regardless!
On today’s menu of Political Food was Monsanto and its long political tentacles. It is said that money buys influence, but just how much? In the case of Monsanto, it is significant, and that influence extends across the world.
If they ever decide on a Corporate Song, I would suggest that they look at Madonna and Material Girl.
Some GMO’s kiss me, some GMO’s hug me
I think they’re o.k.
If they don’t give me proper Bt Toxins
I just walk away
They can gene and they can splice
But they can’t see the blight, that’s nice!
’cause the boy with the cold hard cash
Is always mister right, ’cause we are
Living in a GMO world
And I am a GMO girl
You know that we are living in a GMO world
And I am a GMO girl
I think it might be quite catchy on adverts.
However there may be chinks in the armor starting to appear. There is a law suit unfolding in Minnesota that could have very far reaching results. It does not involve GMO seeds, rather the use of pesticides that are blown by the wind during application. But, one has to wonder which pesticides are involved? Could it be Round-up? What does seem to be clear is that this case involves a small Organic farmer against a much larger Corporate enterprise.
Also on the program was a discussion about various other GMO disasters unfolding around the world.
