For the past two weeks Surviving The 21st Century has focused on the dietary supplement Crila. Crilia is derived from the Vietnamese herb Crinum latifolium. We invited Sue McKinney CEO of Crila Health to join the panel of Mannie Barling, Ashley F. Brooks and Simon Barrett to share the Crila story.
It is very rare that we discuss a specific dietary supplement as we do not wish to be seen as endorsing products. We prefer to leave that to the many ‘snake oil’ salesmen on late night TV and the Internet.
In fact I will admit that when the idea of doing a program on Crila first came up, I was quite frankly dubious. Were we risking our hard earned reputation? More importantly and much more serious, were we potentially helping or harming somepeoples health?
I decided to go along with the program, but at the first sign of Snake Oil, the rabid Pit Bull in me would come tumbling out.
Actually I had nothing to worry about. Sue McKinney is the first to admit that Crila is not a wonder drug, it won’t make you live to be 200 years old, it does not remove wrinkles around the eyes, and it does not promote growth of male appendages!
Crila does however seem to be very effective in treating certain conditions. It has been and continues to be the subject of independent scientific study. In Vietnam it has achieved the equivalent of FDA approval as an approved medicinal drug.
Do not take that statement lightly. Vietnam is a very advanced country with some excellent researchers and rigorous drug standards.
Crila seems to be particularly effective in two areas. Treating male prostate gland issues, which is a very common issue with males over 50, and with the Bay Boomer generation aging, it is an ever growing concern today.
It has also proved to be very effective for menopausal women. It appears to have many of the abilities found in HRT drugs (Hormone Replacement Treatment) without the nasty side effects (Strokes etc).
Sue McKinney and Ashley F. Brooks spent some time discussing HRT drugs, and specifically where they come from.
PREgnent MAres uRINe!
Hint – use some of the capitalized letters to make a well know drug name….
Apparently if you crush one of the tablets and add a small amount of water you can enjoy the odoriferous source in the comfort of your own home.
If you missed the live programs, the recordings can be found here (July/9 2011) and here (July/16 2011).
I walked in as a skeptic, but obviously this is a product that shows great potential. It will be interesting to watch what happens next. If it is as effective as the research indicates, Big Pharma will be forced to react. The direction they may take is unknown, but I could guess on a few possibilities.

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackI was sceptical when I read about crila , but to my surprise it really works ,a great releif , great product
I was introduced to Crila about 2 years ago and have been using Crila for Menopause for over a year now. I have found it to be especially beneficial for my many menopausal symptoms (night sweats, mood swings, and top of my hate list – hot flashes. I would recommend it to anyone suffering my same woes.
Sincerely,
Colleen Dee
Great info!!! The more I learn about health the more I see how ignorant I have been. Thank you for providing these shows and articles that are so educational.
Sorry- don’t know where to put this- a comment about sunday’s radio show (re: COBRA- where are you?)- why didn’t we get to hear from Cobra? And get an update on the Grund lawsuit in particular (makes me think he may no longer be involved with it- I never trusted the Grunds- i know they innocent but they are mean-spirited- hope they weren’t mean to him)- but all the other misc facts and gossip for which he is famous and appreciated- in general?
I know you are tired of CA- Simon but I am still interested in finding out the truth and am counting on these various lawsuits- grunds and now LP- to get us closer to it.
Thanks
A superb, ground breaking medicinal herb that has helped my husband tremendously. The company’s integrity and attitude of caring about it’s customers is wonderful as well.
Sue Mc Kinney, the CEO of the company will respond to emails and seek Dr. Tram’s medical
comments on the herb’s efficacy we have found. I am looking forward to trying CRILA for women as well. Thanks for making this truly 21st Century natural remedy available for all.
I have several friends who have used Crila successfully. The improvement in their health sparked our interest in doing the show with Sue McKinney. it doesn’t take a miracle drug to improve your health. Mother Nature has provided so many remedies since the beginning of time that are now ignored by Big Pharma. This is but one of them.
I have always been interested in natural alternatives to prescription drugs, and after viewing http://www.crilahealth.com I was ready to try alleviate my night sweats and hot flashes with the product. What I didn’t expect, was the speed at which I noticed improvement, which was within the first week!
I have used Crila for Menopause for two months, at maximum suggested dosage at first, but after two weeks I dropped this to minimum, and I have the same benefits. My second bottle is on order, and I am very grateful for the work which brought this product to production. Best wishes to the Crila team, I continue to spread the word among my friends and family!
I have been fighting hot flashes and night sweats for many years and in the past used prescribed meds (Eperbel-S) until it was taken off the shelf a couple of years ago. While the medication really gave me great relief at night, when it was no longer available my night sweats reoccurred. I was introduced to Crilla a few months ago and decided to give it a shot. I must say it took a while to ‘kick in’ but after 2 months of persistence I am able to say my nights are calm and with no sweating.
Here are two excellent sources of additional info for you that were mentioned in the program. First, the comment about Crila from Ken Malik, Founder of the Prostate Awareness Foundation. Ken’s foundation is a wealth of information for men facing prostate issues. “After taking therapeutic daily doses … for 2 1/2 months I notice my nocturnal visits to urinate have been greatly reduced. Everyone’s physiology is slightly different so I am not surprised it took this long to see results. For years I have been getting up in the middle of the night, every 3 hours or so, and I have gotten very used to this pattern. Sleeping thru the night without getting up had been an extremely rare occurrence. I now notice that I am sleeping thru the night more than half the time and when I do get up to urinate it is only once per night. I can only attribute this change in urination habits to using Crila®. Ken Malik, Founder and Executive Director http://www.prostateawarenessfoundation.org
Second, is the prostate book by Dr. Mark Scholz, which every man who is 50+ should read (or the women who care about those men) “Invasion of the Prostate Snatchers.” It’s available on amazon at http://www.amazon.com/Invasion-Prostate-Snatchers…/dp/1590513428
I am a 57 year old man who was getting up twice a nite to go to the bathroom.
I tried Crila at the dose for my weight, which was 8 per day, and after a month it reduced the times I had to get up at night. Instead of sleeping 3-4 hours I was sleeping 6-8 hours. What was unexpected, was the increase in my sexual drive with my wife, there was an increased interest. In the second month, I had a greater urge and greater ability to empty my bladder completely. At that point, I cut back to 4 per day, and would describe my condtion as “normal”. This is what I want to maintain. It was what I remember my condition being like at 40. I plan to continue to take 2 per day as recommended for maintenance.
My husband has been using Crila for over three years. He went from 3-4 times a night getting up to urinate to 0-1 time per night! I recently had surgery and after the anathesia I experi.enced a resumption of hot flashes/ night sweats. After speaking with Sue McKinney I started taking the Crila for Menopause and my symptoms almost immediately subsided. I now take a maintenance dose and have had no resumption of symptoms! I alsomusedmtomexperienced night sweats ifmI had wine or an alcoholic beverage. With Crila that no longer occurs!
I was introduced to Crila almost a year ago while in Viet Nam on a combination Rotaplast mission trip and vacation and a bit of time with Sue.. I am a breast cancer survivor on Tamoxifen — which in itself can cause hot flashes — so that plus menopause is a double whammy. All else that I’ve tried has failed — black cohash and prescription drugs. Crila has certainly improved the number of hot flashes that I have — practically none during the day and maybe one at night (if any) — It’s been great and my oncologist said it’s safe —-
IT’S GREAT!
