Because of the fact that court was in session on Sunday July/3 I made an executive decision to cancel our usual program. Monday July/4 also offered challenges, the court would once again be in session, and many of our regular panel had commitments.

Tomorrow we will be running our ‘Sunday’ program. We will be on air at 1pm eastern. The exact makeup of the panel is still being worked on, but it should be most of the regulars.

The Jury now have the case, where will they take it? Some people are calling the Casey Anthony trial of the century. I have to admit that I disagree. It certainly has become the trial of the Internet, but is it really that earth shatereing in legal terms?

Has the entire event become hijacked by Social Media?

I look back at other trials that garnered the public interest, two in particular stand out, OJ Simpson and Rodney King. Both were controversial, but both happened before the explosion of FaceBook and Twitter. Both also happened before TV media could expend 24/7 coverage. HLN (Hang Lying Nutcase) seems to have an obsession with this trial.

Is it fair? I don’t know.

Casey Anthony has been tried in the court of HLN, is she guilty? Hell yes!

But there is a component missing. A basic component. The opportunity to face your accuser. Has she had the chance? I am not defending the young lady, but she has been tried, found guilty, and sentenced to death not by a court of law, but Facebook, Twitter, and all of the other popular ‘social media’.

I doubt that anyone would enjoy this experience.
