It is becoming obvious that Jose Baez is determined to run down the Game Clock. My wife Jan and I have followed this case for almost three years and there is no way that we are going on-air today if the closing arguments are still going on. I have talked to our panel and the the plan is to slip our studio time until they are complete.
Our program is currently scheduled for 4pm eastern, and at 3pm eastern I will make the call to slip it by one hour and continue to do so every hour until the court has adjourned for the day. I have created a temporary link on the main page (right side) showing our projected air time, I will update it hourly.
Is Baez making progress? Has Ashton hammered the States case home? We will be examining these, and other aspects of the case.
UPDATE: @3pm eastern – It is obvious that the Defense want to run the clock. Program shunted to 6pm Eastern

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackIt’s painful to watch Baez climb the Not Guilty Mountain with the obstacles that Casey put there herself. Ashton and team are just using what she handed them on a silver platter with the utmost skill. Karma means Justice for Caylee.
At least Casey knows what’s going to happen to her, it’s more of an advantage than Caylee had.
Hopefully the healing process will begin, it appears that a memorial is being built for Caylee, a brick walkway where the public can purchase an engraved brick. Found this link:

Review court Videotape of Attorney “Ashton” as he makes a “NO” jester with his heard to the Jury as Jose Baez, is presenting his Closing Arguments to the Jury.
June 3, 2011 between 3:30 & 4:30 p.m.
Chaney is now explaining the law. IMO he is insulting the judge and jury. He is coming across to me that he doesn’t think the judge is competent to explain the juries responsibilities or that the jury is too stupid to understand without him explaining their assignment. He is as disgusting as bozo. IMO
I LOVE IT TODAY WHEN ASHTON GOATED BAEZ TO EXPLOD, I LAUGHED SO HARD IT HURT! I HOPE THE JURY IS SMART ENOUGH TO SEE HOW GUILTY SHE IS!
I’m glad that Linda Drane Burdick gets to finish the Pros closing argument tomorrow when the jury is fresh and rested. After listening to Bozo and Cheney all afternoon they must be as exhausted as we all are.
I think there should be a mistrial due to Ashton’s “jester-ing” to jury- shaking his head NO- to the jury?! Mistrial.

What was all that laughing about and gesturing?
I could not believe he was doing that. This is a murder trial of a small child and he is laughing and gesturing during the defense closing? By his actions in doing this I did loose all respect for him. After all this time and he risks the case by his unprofessional antics. I certainly hope this does not cause a mistrial or an appellate issue.
The young man who made the hand gesture at
Ashton was a spectator. A nobody to the jury. The judge felt he could have jeopardized the trail by making that hand gesture. He was given 6 days in jail and a 400.00 fine by the judge. Now we have the lead prosecutor on tape laughing and gesturing during the defense’s closing statements. Why would Ashton do that and why would the judge allow that for even one moment in this trial?
See what one toxic person can cause; people’s lives have been destroyed and turned upside down by Casey’s actions. I agree how unprofessional Ashton acted and how classy Baez was when he asked the judge for leniency in re: to Ashton who is human afterall. Baez lost his cool & has acted unprofessional right out of the gate,e.g.never being fully prepared, missing deadlines, etc. They all need some down time from Casey’s evil spell. I had to laugh too when Baez spoke of her imaginary friends, it seemed foolish. Casey only conjured up her stable when she needed an alibi.
JUSTICE FOR CAYLEE WILL PREVAIL!
What about all the times Baez, Mason and yes even Casey laughed even when the good Judge was speaking. It was very disrespectful to the courts. They have all acted out in this case at one time or another.
And as far as Baez’s little speech asking the courts not to punish Jeff Ashton, you can’t honestly think he did that on his own. Cheney Mason clearly told him what to say to the court so that way they could gain some points with the judge. You could see it in his face that the words coming out of his mouth while speaking were like his teeth being pulled out with them. He did not like giving that little speech.
Right on Jan! I can’t believe Deb and Barbinohio felt any differant than you did. But it’s what makes the world go round.
oh and let’s not forget about the time Casey flipped off the camera during jury selection and Baez and Cheney laughed with her about it. Then when she was supposedly wiping her eyes during this trial, she used her middle finger, on purpose.
I am only saying that one making jesters inside the courtroom is just as bad as another. So if anyone is held in contempt of court for it then they all should, including the defendant.
Hello Jan, I did not mean to upset you or anyone else here. We can see that some were disappointed by Ashton’s behavior in this issue, myself included. What if just one of the jurors is negatively impacted by his laughter? I did not mean to imply that anyone doing this is excused in my mind. I do also agree that Baez was disingenuous in his plea for Ashton.
I would certainly agree that anyone who is an officer of the court who is doing anything unprofessional in the court room should be ashamed of themselves. This is very important to all of us. Justice is in the balance for a small child. Closing arguments are a very important part of the proceedings as we all know. I think any inappropriate behavior during closing, especially laughter, by anyone, is disrespectful of this child. JMO. To me there is nothing funny in this case. No matter how ridicules anything seems to be, to me it still is not humorous. The thing is, just as a police officer or a teacher or a judge is and should be held to a higher standard, I feel the prosecution, who are officers of the court should also raise above the antics. JMVHO
We need only one or two reversible errors to see an appeal here. I would hate to think an appeal would be granted on some miss step by a prosecutor during closing arguments. Ineffective Counsel has to be so blatant and so egregious that it clearly affected the out come and denied the defendant their constitutional rights to a fair trial. Baez acting in anyway that is seen as benefiting the defendant, including smirking or laughing or shaking his head will not be grounds for an appeal. It will only make him look worse than he already does. I do not feel he will influence the jury with this unprofessional behavior. Neither he or his client will have much effect influencing anyone for the defendant’s benefit. IMO Baez and his client are hated by the very nature of their involvement in this case and their own actions. IMO Prosecution’s inappropriate behavior will be securitized on a much different level when it comes to filing for an appeal. The judge has made it clear that no gesturing or facial expressions will be allowed by anyone. This is because it is so important that nothing is seen to have been said or done that denies the defendants rights to a fair trial. I certainly did not expect this form prosecution at this critical point in this process. Let’s hope there is nothing seen, said or done that can jeopardize the guilty verdict everyone is hoping for in this case. We all pray for justice for Caylee.
If Casey gets agg. manslaughter she will only serve 24-25 years. 30 years (85% rule – time served) In my opinion this is a possible sentence, I wont be shock though if she gets more, but I expect at least this+ the 4 charges for lying to police, and added charges for child abuse.jmo
Not to argue with anyone here but I saw Ashton’s smile from different eyes. I did not see any gesturing. Baez had just said that Dr G or one of the experts testimony was fraud or something along those lines. I felt that Ashton’s reaction was shock to discredit someone so credible. I also thought Baez outburst was MUCH more disruptive than Ashton’s smile. I doubt the jury was even looking at Ashton. Baez was about 8-10 feet directly in front of the jury so I would think he had their attention. Baez having his outburst and then changing his tune that he did NOT want contempt of court against Ashton was due to the fact that HIS outburst was ALSO breaking court order, as he has done numerous times in this trial. IMO the judge was ready to charge them both and Baez avoided that by acting like he didn’t want Ashton to get in trouble, to save his own butt. I also noticed Bozo making MANY expressions today as Ashton and Burdick did their closing. JMO
Hope you all have a great 4th!!!!!!!!!!
I agree with treece
Hi,Is there a show today?
Totally right on Treece. That’s what happened.
no show as of yet. We will let you all know when he decides to do it. He got stuck grilling burgers for my son and I today so he kind of got off his 24/7 work mode. I think he needed a break from his computer. We have practically been glued to them for since May 24th.
barbinOhio it is OK, you didn’t upset me. I think we are all so anxious for this to be over so Caylee can get her justice. According to what Judge Perry stated though, both sides, the defense and the prosecution are suppose to refrain from any facial expressions or jesters of any sort are to be refrained, so yes the defense was suppose to hold back as well.
Treece I do agree with you too. Jeff Ashton was covering his face with his hand, whether he was laughing or smiling, but it was still visible. The fact is though, the defense can’t talk about his actions for they are guilty of the same exact thing.
I wrote an article on the subject early this morning when I couldn’t sleep. You can read it here : http://narwo.com/archives/1974
As soon as we figure out when we will be doing the radio show we will let you all know, unless he has told everyone else but me when he plans to do it LOL
I hope you all have a Happy and very safe 4th of July! Thank God and our American troops for our freedom in our country
God bless them!

I thought Ashton and Burdick did a heck of a job finishing up. I posted my week six blog earlier today. You can see it at http://dennisngriffin.wordpress.com/2011/07/04/the-anthony-trial-week-six
