On last weeks broadcast the panel of Mannie Barling, Ashley F. Brooks and Simon Barrett took on the problem of the Enviropig (Article or Recording). We have decided that there is so much more to discuss on the subject that on Saturday Mar/5 at 10am pacific, 1pm eastern we will be talking one again about the Enviropig.
I have to admit that when I first heard the name Enviropig I assumed that it was a slang term likely used to describe people who took less than good care of the environment. People changing their car engine oil and pouring the ‘gunk’ into the storm sewers, or those folks that feel that trash needs to be on the sidewalk rather than walk 5 paces and place it in a garbage bin. I was wrong!
Hard though it may to believe Enviropig is actually a trademarked name. It refers to a type of GMO pig. GMO incidentally stands for Genetically Modified Organism rather than the more popular version General Motors Oops.
The GMO Enviropig is just another in an increasing list of ‘stuff’ that Dr Frankenstein rather than Mother Nature has fiddled with.
Enviropig involves some serious fiddling. Is this what Enviropig may look like after a few generations?
Where is the FDA in all of this? They are the keepers of food safety after all, aren’t they?
Well not quite. It is all politics.
I am sure that our program on Saturday at 1pm eastern will be an eye opening experience. To listen in live use this link.
