I was in a coaching of IAS preparation. It was India’s second best coaching. Only 1-2% in our coaching were muslims. Similar condition was reported by my friend in another coaching, which was termed as the best coaching for civil services in India.

So when one does not prepare, how would one get selected. We should not present a skewed picture! It will be counter-productive on the communal harmony front if a skewed picture is presented to the uninformed reader.

The need is to encourage more aspirants from the communities which are under-represented in the civil services.

Below are the comments of Fazlur Raheem Mujaddidi, chairman of the Crescent Academy, Aligarh which coaches Muslim students for the top civil services exams and state administrative exams in Uttar Pradesh.

Nearly 950 students of Allahabad University appeared for the civil services competitive examinations in the year 2002. But only 23 were finally able to make it to the services. But only 30 appeared for the same exams from the Aligarh Muslim University, and no one could make the final grade. If discrimination is a factor in keeping the Muslims out of the civil services, it must be a still bigger role to play with students of the Allahabad University, of whom 927 were rejected for the civil service jobs. But no one complained. These statistics were highlighted by Fazlur Raheem Mujaddidi, chairman of the recently established Crescent Academy in Aligarh which coaches Muslim students for the top civil services exams and state administrative exams in Uttar Pradesh. Mujuddadi told this correspondent in an informal chat that discrimination was mostly imaginary with regard to Muslims in India. He said he found most of the students in AMU were not goal oriented and lacked awareness about the job potential in Government sector, consequently only about 30 to 50 students were appearing for the competition for top civil services jobs from the University. He said, few Muslims compete for the official jobs and much fewer compete. He said Muslims need to discard the theory of discrimination and orient their younger generation for the competition.

FuXX UPA. Power is the sole motto. It has devided country many times and still continue to do it.

As long as the janata does not realize this , politicians continue this act.

Constitution has provided reservations for socially deprived sections.

Muslims have ruled this country and even now they are demanding lot of attention and respect in the society.

Sachar is chamcha of UPA and prepared the draft as per the recommendations of UPA.

Shame on you Sachar.

I am just sick of appeasement policies. Congress did very little for the Muslims in the past 60 years.
Congress and Sachar comittee quote statistical data without looking at the real reasons.
The real reason for the backwardness of any community is lack of access to primary and middle level education.
Sachar states the low percentage of Muslims in the IAS cadre. Why does he not understand that to qualify for IAS one has to have at minimum a bachelors degree. How can they get a bachelors degree when the government has done little to spread educations amongst the Muslims and other backward communities.
Muslims, your real right is not quota, but access to quality education. Every child should get the same access to eucation as any minister's son, daughter or grand children.
The media has done very little to drive this point home. What I have just said is not rocket science but honest thinking.
