John Russell Skelton is refusing to tell Lenawee County Circuit Judge Margaret Noe where his three sons are other than that they are with an “organizationâ€. The three boys, Andrew, 9, Alexander, 7 and Tanner Skelton, 5 have been missing since the weekend after Thanksgiving. An Amber Alert was issued for the three children the day after Thanksgiving after the father John Skelton attempted to commit suicide by hanging himself.
After lots of volunteers searched for the boys they found nothing. The Morenci Police Chief Larry Weeks feared that the boys had been killed before Skelton attempted suicide. Skeleton arrived in Michigan earlier this week and is being held on a $30 million dollar bond. As of right now he is being charged with parental kidnapping/custodial interference. At the hearing Skelton told the courts that he gave the boys to an organization and since he refuses to tell the court where they are he was ordered to be held pending compliance with a civil custody order.
Skeleton’s parents visited with him last week and they reported that he told them that the boys are alive and well but he refused to tell them where they are also, claiming he is protecting them from their mother, Tanya Skelton who is a registered sex offender in Michigan for having sex with a 14 year old boy that was a neighbor.
Although there is a $10,000 reward offered for information that will lead them to finding the children, no one has come forth. There has been several hundreds of tips called in but none that lead them to the boys. Police Chief Weeks assures everyone that every tip called in is treated as top priority and is checked out thoroughly. They just haven’t received the right tip yet.
If anyone has seen these boys please call your local police and report it. It is almost Christmas and if these boys are by some miracle still alive please help the police get them back to their family where they can enjoy the holidays. My prayers are with them in hopes that God will lead them home. Look at their pictures, look at their eyes. Remember what they look like just in case you by some chance do see them and then call the authorities.
My prayers always ask that all the missing children be returned to their loved ones especially with us in the midst of the Christmas holidays. May God be with these boys, Haleigh Cummings, Adji Desir and all the others as well.

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackThere is a saying, “Action speaks louder than words”. Skelton married his wife, knowing full well of her “history”. He has had all of these years to accuse his wife of abuse. He did not do so until his parents came to visit him in jail. Also, if his children were with an underground organization, why would he attempt suicide?? This man’s actions speak “sociopath” and revenge. I pray everyday for the safe return of the boys and that they can be with their mother.
I hope they are found soon, who knows if this organization is really who he thought they were? There has been 2 sightings in Ohio, one at a doughnut shop and one at a flea market just days after they were reported missing. I hope they really were these boys. The doughnut shp was in Sandusky Ohio. I wonder if they may have been taken to Canada? jmo

Thank you Jan for the update on the boys. I pray they are found soon. The dads suicide attempt I believe was staged. He nver intened to kill himself. He is being a selfish vindictive person right now. He is not thinking of his boys;he is tinking of himself. It is very true that he knew of his wifes past and yet he married her and had 3 boys with her. All he had to do was call DCF and make a report to them that he felt his sons may be being molested by the mom. They would have talked to the boys to find if the boys were alleging this. This is a revenge tactic against the mom. It is hurting the mother, but worse it is hurting his children.

Why are some people so selfish they use their children to get back at the ex.
I pray these boys are found safe.
At first I thought the boys are dead. Now I don’t know what to think. I don’t think he was very serious about killing himself and yes, it may have been staged. He is using these children to hurt their mother whether they are dead or alive. He needed to work within the legal system if these boys were being abused. Whatever it is he has done is NOT the answer.
I believe that since he has changed his story so often, the outcome for the children is likely not a good one. He could have used the “organization” story initially, but he didn’t choose that route. He cannot be trusted to tell the truth about anything. I agree that he is a vengeful person and will never tell what he did with the boys. It’s a shame that he is allowed to continue to live in society.
Unless it’s an underground “organization,” what doesn’t hold up about his story is the idea that with so much publicity, the “organization” (assuming it was legitimate), wouldn’t come forward and say “yes, we have the boys, they are safe.” Since this hasn’t happened, I think it’s fair to assume that the story is BS.
I have read this story over the weeks and it breaks my heart as a mother and person. I just cant belive that a father could be so sick and selfish as this man.I pray for the safe return of these children. but feel they are angels now…. he and his family are very sick people to hurt or hide children for revenge…Christmas is a time of year for little ones.. He will Pay for what he has done…
I don’t know what to think. He seems adamant that they are safe (But of course his neck is on the chopping block so what else WOULD he say). His parents seem to believe him. Whatever he has done he needs to tell the truth. If the boys are alive they need to be with family for Christmas. If they are gone, they need a proper burial. He is cruel beyond words.
