Read the letters from birth parents, grandparents, foster families, pre-adoptive families concerning their children who have been hurt by the sometimes illegal misapplication of the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA). http://www.caicw.org/familystories.html
Though proponents of the ICWA argue that the act has safeguards to prevent misuse, scores of multi-racial children are being negatively affected by application of ICWA.
Across America, children that have never been near a reservation – nor ever involved in tribal customs – are routinely removed from homes they love and placed with strangers – sometimes unsafe – chosen by tribal Gov’t.
These children and their families need encouragement, prayer, and legal help. Not having the funds and DOJ attorneys that are available to the tribal industry, the biggest way for all of us to help at this moment is to spread these family letters and tell the rest of America what is going on.
CAICW is the only National organization advocating for families faced with loss of their children due to ICWA. Our advocacy is both Judicial and Legislative as well as being a prayer resource for the families and a shoulder to cry on.
Please join CAICW’s Facebook Page. Here, you can get more information and families affected by ICWA can connect with other families and discuss, encourage, share insights, share case law, share names of possible attorney’s, and pray for each other. Please visit, and if you know families hurt by ICWA, please share these pages with them.
We are also currently organizing a trip to DC for January, 24-26 2011 where we will meet with Gary Bauer of the American Values org, Staff from the Senate Committee in Indian Affairs, Senator Tom Coburn’s staff, and more.
Dr. William Allen, former Chair of the US Commission on Civil Rights, will be with us as well. We look forward to his wisdom, prayers and encouragement.
Our mission during this trip will be to educate Congress members concerning ICWA, advocate for families, network with other like-minded orgs, and discuss initiatives that will protect children. It will be exciting to connect with some of the NEW Congressional members. Please Join us! Contact me for more information.
Also ~ please visit the Christian Alliance for Indian Child Welfare ‘Cause’ page and sign the petition for ‘Ensuring Equal Protection for Families and Children,” which we will be bringing to Senator Coburn and the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs. And PLEASE Share the Cause ~
