zahra-baker.jpgLots of people, and a lot of the mainstream media are staying focused on any new developments involving the little 10 year old girl, Zahra Baker from North Carolina that has a smile that just shines everywhere. Her little freckled faced smile would melt anyone’s heart. She was reported missing on October 9, 2010.

The case was originally investigated as a kidnapping case because of a ransom note demanding $1 million, which was why an Amber alert was issued. They changed the case to a homicide case after Zahra’s stepmother, Elisa Baker admitted to police that she actually wrote the note herself. A Grand Jury has handed down an indictment against her saying Elisa Baker unlawfully, willfully and feloniously did with deceit and intent to defraud police investigation, obstruct justice by constructing and placing a false ransom letter and reporting an abduction of her stepdaughter. Zahra Baker. Elisa Baker is now being held in jail on a $97,200 bond after a judge deemed her a flight risk.

Zahra Baker was a special little girl that has fought for her life when she was diagnosed as having bone cancer in which she lost part of her leg causing her to have to use a prosthetic leg and she wore a hearing aid also.

During the search for this little girl a prosthetic leg had been found in a wooded area and police had been waiting for confirmation of the serial numbers on it matching the same as the one found but they have received the news that most expected unfortunately. It was the leg that Zahra wore.

Now the police are reporting that they have found a bone which they seem to think could possibly be related to the case. They say they have sent it to the state medical examiner’s office to see if it can be matched to Zahra. The bone apparently was found in Caldwell County close to where the family used to live.

The owner of a website claims to have two letters written by Elisa Baker that he wants to sell. He says in the letter she says her stepdaughter Zahra is dead and that her husband did something horrifying to her after her death. He quotes from one of the letters:

“We didn’t really kill her but what he did after the fact is kind of horrifying. Makes me scared of him.”

Hickory Police Deputy Chief Clyde Deal says they couldn’t confirm if the letters are authentic until they can compare them with other samples of Elisa’s hand writing.

Are any of these clues going to help find Zahra? Is her father and stepmother guilty of doing something horrific to this precious child? No one knows yet for sure but I do know this much. Most people have made their minds up as to who the guilty ones are. As in other missing children cases, from what evidence is given to the public, usually a solution to a crime is made. So many people make their own decisions. For instance the Haleigh Cummings case has stirred up so many opinions, but will we ever really know what happened to her? Is there ever going to be any justice for Haleigh?

Will there be any justice for Zahra if she is ever found? The sad question is will any of these children ever be found? Besides justice they, if they are indeed no longer with us, at least deserve a decent burial too.

For now America, all we can do is wait and put it in God’s hands. I don’t know what else we can do. I continue praying for Zahra Baker, Adji Desir, Haleigh Cummings and all the other missing children. They are still out there somewhere, maybe not alive but they are still out there waiting to be found. I pray that one day someone will speak up in each case that will help find them to bring them home. God bless them all!
