Tuesday, August 10, 2010 was the mark of 18 months since little Haleigh Cummings has been missing. Numerous searches, hundreds of tips, lots of family arrests for unrelated charges, yet none of this has helped to find Haleigh. It sure makes me wonder sometimes if someone is just not looking in the right direction in this case.
I wasn’t at the vigil held last night, but I sure wish I could have been. What I have seen from other articles online though it gave me a pretty good idea who participated in this event though. Diena Thompson, Somer Thompson’s mother appeared to show her support to the family. She probably could relate to everything this family is feeling since she herself went through the same thing with her daughter back in October 2009 when her little body was found. Diena was quoted from news4jax.com as saying, “We’re talking about our similar situations and how it makes us feel and I think we both give each other solace.â€
Teresa Neves and Annette Sykes, Haleigh’s grandmother and great-grandmother, were there wearing T-shirts with Haleigh’s face and name on the front. Sykes says it is important for people to know that Haleigh is still missing. She is still out there somewhere. “We believe she is alive and not just our family, but there is an unbelievable amount of people who believe Haleigh’s alive,†she said.
“We realize that Haleigh has touched the lives of people across this nation and even other nations. She has a smile that warms the hearts of hearts,†said Sykes. “Because we fully believe that Haleigh is alive, this is a vigil of celebration of her life.â€
The PCSO has now changed the status of Haleigh’s case from missing child case to a homicide investigation. As far as the family is concerned though, until they can show some proof that she is not alive they will continue with their hopes and prayers that she will be found and returned home safely. So they will continue doing what they can to keep her name in the public and also her picture to help remind the people across the country or world that if they see this little girl to please call the police.
This is what we at BNN are trying to do as well. Until this child is found, one way or another, we will keep her picture and her name out there. We don’t want her case to go into the cold case files. She deserves better than that. She wouldn’t want to be forgotten, and we are not going to forget her. We will do whatever we can do to keep this case out there to the public.
Now on August 17, which is Haleigh’s birthday the family are planning to have another vigil to honor her birthday. They have a scheduled balloon release to be held at 2:17 pm which represents the time Haleigh was born only she was born at 2:17 am instead. Please take note that this time is being reported differently on myspace for balloons for Haleigh. They are saying the release is to be at 2:16 pm and not 2:17. All the other reports that I could find are saying 2:17 so I am not sure who is right. I think it should be figured out though before the release since the time is significant to coincide to the time of Haleigh’s birth.
I did just get a report that the time is indeed 2:16 pm. Apparently the time of birth has been confirmed from Haleigh’s birth certificate and the time of her birth was not 2:17 am it was actually 2:16 am so that is when the balloons will be released only it will be at 2:16 pm.
Help this family keep this child’s name out in the public. Let’s show her that we have not forgotten her. I am one of those that still believes Haleigh is alive and even though most don’t agree with me, I refuse to believe she isn’t until she is found.
My prayers are with Haleigh and her family everyday and every night. I keep praying that she will be found soon. She needs to come home, her family needs her home. The world needs her home. She has become a part of all of our lives, now. Haleigh we all love you honey so we pray that soon you will find your way home so we all can celebrate your return.

Jan, thank you, thank you for your support and love for Haleigh!!! I was so touched that Diena Thompson took time from her own pain and heart ache to come and support Haleigh and her family. I cried as I watched the vigil videos. It was just such a fresh reminder of what we are all about and why we are here. I’d like to challenge everyone, including myself, to remember for this next week, through Haleigh’s birthday on the 17th, to stay focused on Haleigh. This is truly about precious Haleigh. It is NOT about drug busts, it is not about thugs in Tn, it is not about who we like or don’t like. It is about a precious, innocent child who turns 7 the 17th of August.
Please lets all keep her in our hearts and prayers. Haleigh SOOOOO deserves this respect.

I try to imagine what she would look like since children change so much in 18 months. I also think she is alive and pray she is returned to her family in time for her birthday.

I think there are more than a handful that really care, some just don’t write about it. I know lots of people who don’t even have a computer but they watch the news and pray for all of the missing children and adults. It is so sad that there are so many and I pray that some are found each day.
It is sad that all of the people in Haleigh’s life can’t come together (to get her) home.
Jules–I was thinking the exact same thing. This was a moving article and a moving tribute to a child, even though so young, has touched so many lives. Diena Thompson, through her own pain of having a missing/murdered child, showed up to offer comfort, and yet Haleigh’s own mother could not. Its extremely sad these families could not find it in their hearts to comfort each other and be united in their love for Haleigh. I am hoping one day that will change–but it goes to prove Haleigh is their missing link and maybe her being found would heal the rift. A little bit about the vigil last night, although most people have seen the videos.
There were several people that spoke about their favorite times/memories of HaLeigh. Crystal (HaLeigh’s aunt) read a letter, speaking directly to HaLeigh. It was beautiful and heart wrenching. While people were speaking, a slideshow of pictures (most that were never before seen on the internet) were playing in the background. It was really nice because it was above a glittery red BELIEVE wooden carving. There was a table set up, you can see it on the videos, that had several pictures of HaLeigh, which is where people placed their candles. There were also several beautiful collages of pictures of HaLeigh with pictures that have never been seen in the media. She is such a beautiful child with a smile that never quits!
A group of people sang HaLeigh’s favorite song “That’s what I Love about Sundays”. That is a song that HaLeigh loves and knows all the words to and often sang out and knows all the words to.
So that is a little bit from the vigil last night.

Are we sure that Crystal (Haleigh’s mother) and her family were invited to this vigil that Ron’s family arranged? Was she even asked if she would like to help? Should as part of Treece’s challenge to keep this about Haleigh also include challenging ourselves to stop the Sheffield bashing? Or does that only mean stop pointing out all the crimes and mistakes the Cummings/Croslin side has made?
LadySadie, That is a very good point. It could be that Crystal wanted to do it on Haleigh’s birthday which is so near. For this one article we could not bash anyone further and pray for Haleigh’s return.

I think it has been stated before that it takes a community to raise a child–and I think the same thing could be said when a child goes missing–it will take a community to find them–as the well meaning, generous people of Putnam County and the surrounding counties so graciously tried to do. I could care less who coordinated this event–this event was to honor Haleigh. With that said after reading the above post about the Cummings “farce”, I think it is a slap in the face to the kind people of Putnam County– (though they might not see it that way)–the very people that most likely sacrificed their time, support, and money (not to mention their blood, sweat, and tears) to helping find your missing daughter and her own mother could not show up to this vigil? It would been the right thing to do–to let them know you appreciated all they did. If I recall correctly, the citizens of Putnam County put up most of the reward money for this missing child through donations, and this simple act of being present to show your appreciation is and should not be a hard thing to do. I am sure her marked absence was felt. Maybe the Sheffields did have a good excuse and I will give them the benefit of the doubt here, but whether I hate the Cummings or not, I would have been there to be a “voice” for my daughter, because frankly she (Our Precious Haleigh) is the one that matters- God bless Haleigh and all her families. LadySadie, of course CS and fam were invited to this vigil. It was a community function, at a local church, open and advertised that all were welcome. It is NOT my call to speculate why the Sheffield side didn’t partake in an event for Haleigh. That was their choice and their right NOT to be there but I have to repeat Jan’s sentiment “WILD HORSES COULD NOT HAVE KEPT ME AWAY” from any event that honored my missing child or grandchild. That being said, yes, my previous request was for us all to focus on Haleigh instead of all the other things that sometimes so distract us from the reality that Haleigh is the missing child and should be the center of all of our attention. I am just hoping we can all come together and do that as a gift to Haleigh for her birthday, August 17th.

Guess, I posted my prayer too soon, before I read the recent posts. So I guess what is being asked is to stop posting about the crimes, mistakes and downfalls of the Cummings side, but Sheffield bashing is a free for all and totally acceptable.
Okay, I think this is a good time for everybody to remove your fingers from the keyboard, sit back in your computer chair and take a deep breath. Decide what you really want to say and how you want it to be perceived. Then ask yourself if this is something that would help us find HaLeigh. If so, proceed.

Hey Vaq: I do realize that all attended that vigil; so what? And I know Ron was at work; so what? Nobody knows if Ron is a suspect, all we know is what PCSO wants the public and more importantly Ron to know. Why would LE want Ron to know he’s a suspect? If they came out and said he was a suspect then that would give him the excuse to stop talking to LE. And I know it doesn’t matter if Ron was at work all night because nobody knows “when” something happenned to Haleigh! Furthermore it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realize that Ron and Misty are involved up to their eyeballs! And you can make book that the Cumming family knows that too. So again I say that if Teresa Neves (who didn’t raise Ron) and Grandma Sykes (who “claims” she saw the kids when she dropped some clothes off that night) had any decency or cared about that little girl they would be at that jail insisting Ron tell not only “what happened” to Haleigh but “come clean” about “where” that poor child was dumped. It is more likely that they miss their 15 min of fame (limo rides to studios, hair and make up done and maybe even some new duds), and they want to protect that monster Ronald Cummings just like the Anthony’s keep protecting that monster Casey Anthony! What do you wanna bet they will be passing around the hat for donations? You must have forgotten when LE called them all in to tell them the status changed from endangered missing person to homicide. Im sure LE changed that status for a reason, like they have enough pieces to know that this little girl is dead. I’m sure they didn’t just flip a coin and say well today we’ll change the status. There is a laundry list that point to Ron and Misty as the primary perps. Keeping all that in mind this so called memorial is a disgusting charade and they are doing nothing more than spitting in the face of Crystal Sheffield and everyone who truly cares and shares in the grief of what was this little girls sad life and untimely evil demise.

This article is a tribute to HALEIGH and her life. Please leave the dysfunctional players out. Give her one day of glory. They’ve already taken enough from her.
Dear Judithan: You are entitled to your opinion and I am entitled to mine. I don’t read this piece as being a tribute to Haleigh, to me it reads as a report of an event. I find it amusing that you request(?) the dysfunctional players be left out when they are central to the theme of the report. Please give the same respect you expect when posting your thoughts.
I “lurk here” and like to read theories and new insights or developments or opinions. I really think LS, Robin, Jaba, Alex L and many others have great input here. I do have a problem with the very harsh judgmental people though. People who seem to delight in the sad destruction of these peoples lives.
I too pray for Haleigh. I also pray for all of these people in this situation. I can not imagine how it would be to live as they are now living. It must be extremely painful and hopeless. Yes they made very poor choices and need to face the consequences of their choices. Consequences that are appropriate for their behavior.
To have a young girl ’s life (Misty’s) ruined and wasted like this is more than sad. All of the children involved are going to be so very harmed by all of this including Tommy‘s children. To judge any of these people as if anyone knows they are guilty of any more than what is proven, is wrong. No one knows what has happened to Haleigh. We do seem to see she was a happy child and appeared well fed and cared for. The pictures of her appear to show a child who was loved. I find it hard to believe anyone of these people did anything to harm her. None of them had any reason to hide an accident and not get her help.
What ever happened to innocent till proven guilty or beyond a reasonable doubt? There are so many theories and so many who believe “they have the answers”. So many haters and so many people who wish terrible things on these people. I am sadden by the way people decide that they hope this person or that person should be locked up “for ever” without actual proof of involvement.
My grandson went missing and his mother could not attend any vigils because she was in so much pain she could not be around people. So until something like this happens to you don’t judge anyone. Also we all have different ways of responding to tragedy. No of us can say which is the right way to respond because it is a personal thing.
As for all of these people involved in this story, even if I totally disagree with their lifestyles and their choices, I can not judge them for something that is not yet proven. What if all are innocent as they claim to be ? How do you take away all the hateful things said that caused so much needless pain? All the damaging statements and speculations can not be proven nor can they be taken back. Not all of these people can be guilty. Many people here on this blogg have to be mistaken (some say Croslins/ Cummings, some say Sheffields some say Overstreet some say a SO. Some of you have to be wrong here and are wishing terrible things on innocent people. All in the name of a beautiful child. I don’t think this honors her in anyway.

While HaLeigh’s family’s lifestyle may not be our lifestyle, we have never walked in their shoes. It’s easy to sit in the comfort of our homes and judge them. No one knows these people and what they are really like. One thing I can say without any hesitation or question, they all loved HaLeigh and their hearts are broken without her.
I will never stop praying for HaLeigh to come home safely. I will continue to pray for HaLeigh and all her loved ones. HaLeigh deserves that.
And to you BarbinOhio, I hope your grandson’s case has been solved and he is home safely in loving arms!
HELLO EVERYONE, hope everyone is doing fine and good. Been away for awhile; preoccupied with the tragic death of my son’s best friend who drowned in Colorado River in June, very traumatic, very discouraging…took 16 days for his body to float upstream and finally be found…search and rescue were no help at all, searched less than total of 12 hours..God Bless Taylor.

My DH has been in hospital ICU this week because of a severe allergic reaction (he came home this afternoon). God Bless everyone who loves Haleigh!

Lets keep Haleigh in our prayers and may God reveal the truth!! I think everyone releasing a ballon on Tuesday the 17th with Haleighs name on it is a great idea. We may not be able to attend in Putnam County , but we can still be apart of it.
For all that are planning on releasing a helium balloon in Haleigh’s honor, one request please! Please make sure to use an environment friendly balloon.
There are two types of balloons in wide general use – latex and mylar. This distinction is important because each type requires different handling. Latex balloons are easily identified by their elastic character and are composed of natural rubber sap and small amounts of non-toxic coagulants and pigments. They are 100% bio-degradable. When exposed to outdoor elements they are completely consumed by soil or water micro-organisms at a rate quicker than that experienced by an oak leaf under identical conditions. In much the same way maple syrup is harvested from the maple tree, the production of latex balloons contributes positively to the preservation of tropical rain forests.
Mylar balloons are made with mylar nylon, a material developed for use with the US space program. Balloons made from mylar are often coated with a metallic finish and are available in a variety of shapes and imprinted designs. Mylar balloons are not classified bio-degradable and should not be released.
So please make sure not to use a Mylar balloon.

This is the law in Florida:
FLORIDA
372.995 Release of balloons
(1) The Legislature finds that the release into the atmosphere of large numbers of balloons inflated with lighter-than-air gases poses a danger and nuisance to the environment, particularly to wildlife and marine animals.
(2) It is unlawful for any person, firm, or corporation to intentionally release, organize the release, or intentionally cause to be released within a 24-hour period 10 or more balloons inflated with a gas that is lighter than air except for:
(a) Balloons released by a person on behalf of a governmental agency or pursuant to a governmental contract for scientific or meteorological
purposes;
(b) Hot air balloons that are recovered after launching;
(c) Balloons released indoors; or
(d) Balloons that are either biodegradable or photodegradable, as
determined by rule of the Marine Fisheries Commission, and which are closed by a hand-tied knot in the stem of the balloon without string, ribbon, or other attachments. In the event that any balloons are released pursuant to the exemption established in this paragraph, the party responsible for the release shall make available to any law enforcement officer evidence of the biodegradability or photodegradability of said balloons in the form of a certificate executed by the manufacturer. Failure to provide said evidence shall be prima facie evidence of a violation of this act.
(3) Any person who violates subsection (2) is guilty of a noncriminal infraction, punishable by a fine of $250.
(4) Any person may petition the circuit court to enjoin the release of 10 or more balloons if that person is a citizen of the county in which the balloons are to be released.

I hope the parties organizing the planned balloon release for Haleigh in Putnam County has already petitioned the Circuit Court for the August 17th release. If not someone needs to make them aware of the Florida laws regarding this release and hopefully they will be able to go through the proper procedures in time for the planned ceremony.

I really like the candles so it seems to me that’s enough. But if they really want a balloon then maybe just release one as a symbol of Haleigh.
They could also maybe pass out real flyers to be put up and also sent to media and LE in state and out of state
I also wish a professional artist who knows how to “age” a person would create an image of Haleigh as she might look now. Someone else mentioned earlier that children’s appearance changes rapidly at this age so it could be very helpful.
Of course now that LE has declared it a homicide that kind of help and support is probably no longer available.
Barb, I agree with what you said, especially the part about the people involved in this story being judged. All of the hateful things said that caused so much needless pain will completely be forgotten by those who posted it and they will move on the hating on the family of the next missing child. Some of the players or all, if it was a stranger abduction are in deed innocent and won’t forget the things that were said and posted.
As for a tribute, a candle or a moment of silent prayer would be great too.
How about spending the entire day without trashing anyone Haleigh loved, including those in jail?

How about a lights on campaign? At 2:16 PM everyone could turn on a light (porch light or car headlight or really any light) and leave it on for 7 minutes. The seven minutes for Haleigh’s age of cource, the light to symbolize ” lighting a path to show her the way back home” This would give everyone who wants to do something to actively participate, a safe and earth friendly way to recognize Haleigh’s birthday.

Leaving a light on for 7 minutes is a good idea as some people don’t have money to spend on baloons and candles. I know they don’t cost much, but one does have to drive to a store to get them.
Taking the balloons to children in the hospital makes more sense than buying them and turning them loose. Haleigh’s family, of course, wants to let some go so 7 would be a nice number for them if they should choose to.
Jules, I think 10 is the limit – so maybe make it 5 in honor of Haleigh’s age when she disappeared. Then it can stay at five and never have to stop or go over the legal limit in future.
Does anyone know who actually organizes these events? Who would we contact or write to with this information and suggestions?

I have pissed a lot of people off over the last 18 months because I refuse to go along with the crowd that believe Haleigh is not alive and that she is not being hidden by family. The fact that MANY believe this as well as HaLeigh’s paternal family is a good indication of who Many believe might be responsible. IMO their is no need to bash when the goal is to determine their motive, opportunity and ability to commit the crime of abducting HaLeigh and with those questions answered we might find HaLeigh.
It has never been my goal to make Crystal look bad. I may not agree with this mothers choices, but, would never side against her in regards to her rights being controlled or denied such as they had been the whole time Ron had custody of their children. I would never side against a young mother that IMO loved her children and deserved Ron’s respect and insistence that SHE is their MOTHER and always would be.
IMO this case is about family issues that have now destroyed to many lives including children.
IMO it does take a village to raise a child/ find a child and if need be ensure this child, siblings and both her parents get the help they have needed.
This case IMO is now about so many different issues and crimes committed since and the fact that many will be jailed as the result; only make solving this amicably imposable now. IMO that is why there has been an attempt at making this a “cold case”.
LE has offered no deals of amnesty for the return of HaLeigh and IMO that is what it will take and the assurance of help with the family issues that have lacked the proper legal assistance and compassion for the children since the children were awarded to Ron and IMO gave reason to this crime committed in the first place.
If this child was indeed dead I would totally agree that a few days of condolences to the family and prayers is in order to honor HaLeigh, but, HaLeigh is not dead and to honor her with prayers and condolences or even silence is IMO Heart Breaking. Just as Heart Breaking as everyone continuing to look the other way at the tabloid lifestyles of the Croslin’s for answers for 18 months. IMO many have stopped looking because many want her to be gone at the hands of Joe and a cold river……. a cold case never to be solved.
The saddest part of all, is the Sheffield’s, Cumming’s and Croslin’s family issues are nation wide and until the serious problems in our Legal system and other government agencies; that are supposed to help these in need families, in the US are addressed it will continue on.
IF I was a betting women, I would be betting on the fact that PCSO and SH are not as dumb as they have allowed themselves to appear. Werter and SKB will have a lot to answer for when this is all said and done. JMO
Other persons of interest was the result of the search at the river. TC is being ruffed up not because he is guilty, but, because he lied. LE did not buy the story!!!! In fact they where searching for a silver Plymouth van seen in that neighborhood days prior to the search. IMO SH last comments in regards to the Shell Harbor search was very telling in the sense that they indeed realized they where back at square one in proving a case, but, believe they know now who is behind it all. That is why I believe we will not be seeing the Sheffield’s at any events that are planned to honor, remember a remind everyone that HaLeigh is still alive and is being hidden by her Maternal family.
Crystal if your reading I would like to say if you can find the courage to end this now many will be at your side to see that it never happens to another young mother again. I also believe that the truth will eventually set you free and the rights that you where denied will never be denied again. How many do you think would turn against you now that the truth has been surfacing since Ron’s and Misty’s arrest.
Bold post Texasmommy39, really appreciate it. I am back to holding my mind completely open. The recent information about a HaLeigh sighting in May ’09 is extremely compelling. It wouldn’t mean much on it’s own since there are a lot of look-alike people around— Kyron Horman has several “doubles” in the Portland/Vancouver area alone, there is a girl in England who looks just like Madeline McCann, etc.— but in conjunction with a woman who appears to be a sister/half ssister of Marty/Johnny Sheffield, well, it takes on weight.
Still, I can also completely make a case for the JO scenario, as well as many others. With only rumor and no real information it is impossible to know.
I do, however, really value your plea to Crystal Sheffield. Very nice idea.

There was a reported sighting of Haleigh on May 14, 2010??? Where was this reported, I never heard that.
IMO HaLeigh lost way more than most will realize. Of course being with family is far better than any other placement, but, she is being denied the right to be with her real parents and siblings. The damage that is done in the media will haunt this child as she grows up as well as Jr. and can never be justified because she will no the truth and the fact that if no one finds her what that will do to her is beyond our reasoning.
I believe HaLeigh will be safe and well taken care of upon her return, it will of course not be what she would want or those that do love her,but, at least this nightmare can end and the repair and healing can begin. NO one denies that HaLeigh is very much loved by her family and the one she has acquired since her disappearance and I believe that; that is who will see to it that this child is SAFE. The thing is she is not the only one and I will say it again and again the system needs to be revised. That means the public is the village and it is our responsibility to make the changes to ensure all our children are safe. Right is right and wrong is wrong. “Gone baby Gone” is not a solution it is a out cry for changes that are needed to ensure that drugs are off our street and young parents are given opportunities and incentives to achieve instead of reasons to fail. Government assistance should not be given to anyone that does drugs and if one fails they are denied assistance for 6 months. DCF needs to direct family law issues to the appropriate courts instead of closing cases because of unfounded allegations, it clearly is a cry for help in the ongoing issues within a family and those issues should be addressed instead of ignored. These are just a few of the examples that I see that this case could of benefited from.
If our goal is to ensure every child is safe then many more laws need to be looked at revised or written to lock up the monsters like they lock up drug dealers!

Good grief, TM, I about washed my monitor in coffee!
You know, when this case started and I heard there were forty-four RSOs living within five miles of HaLeigh, I decided to look up how many live in area. Five. In my entire city. And HaLeigh, in her tiny little town had forty-four within five miles of her. My mouth nearly hit the floor in shock. And somehow LE cleared them all by the following day? I suppose I should just state for the record that I do not think an RSO has HaLeigh, but I do wonder how LE could have cleared them all by the next morning?
I think the entire Court system in FL needs an overhaul. People that sold less than 100 pills are getting 15 years mandatory in prison, and these monsters that hurt our children are getting out of jail with time served or just a few years. The man that had Court the other day before Tommy was in for… well, “assaulting” an old woman. She was sitting in the Courtroom with her advocate. The monster got sent to prison for, IIRC 5 years. FIVE YEARS? For the things he did to this woman! (And he had been out on bond, and only turned himself back in because he got SHOT and they got him at the hospital!) And then Tommy got called up and got his 15 years in prison, plus 10 years probation for pills. Now, do not get me wrong. I’m happy to send Tommy away, because I think he’s a career criminal. But, really, the crimes HAVE to fit the punishment. This rapist gets 5 years and someone selling pills is getting 15 years? Where is the JUSTICE for the old woman there?
I don’t see why there has to be a “side.” We don’t know a darned thing really on which to base a serious theory – which is still just a theory.
Why not ask everyone – all families and all branches of LE – to do the right thing and solve Haleigh’s disappearance no matter who’s responsible???

NO, I would say Ron be a man and tell the truth.
The truth is it is sad it is about sides and not really what happened or why and where is HaLeigh.
As far as I can tell HaLeigh and Jr. where being raised in a environment that was any mothers nightmare not just Crystals. What would a mother do if she had No money, No choices and received No action from DCF and was facing jail time for not paying Ron $ ????? This is a true indicator IMO of motive and that is why we are still sitting here a year later because Ron ,Misty, TN ,GGS the Croslins nor “cousin Joe” had a motive to steal, hid or harm HaLeigh. I guess it is all how you look at it.
To anyone who cares to weigh in, could HaLeigh, if alive and hidden, be anonymously dropped-off at a police station or hospital at this point? You know, with a sign around her neck that says, “I am HaLeigh Cummings and I want to go home.”

The problem with that Cate is if as so many want to suggest Haleigh has been “hidden” by family members, she is old enough to be able to tell the police who she has been with all this time.
LadySadie, Yes and no. If she has been with a known relative, “Aunt Cate” or “Grandma Sadie” this whole time, then yes, that is a problem. If she has been with “Sue, who lives in a big white house and has two black dogs,” then it isn’t so much of a problem. But by and large you are right, LS, because she has probably been with a relative who is known to her.
If Ron were a man none of this ever would have happened and this site would not exist, imho.

I don’t know why but I just have a really bad feeling that this case is not going to turn out well.
I think if Haleigh had been taken by a relative Jr would have been also. I just can’t see anyone who loves her taking her from her brother. I can see taking her from her parents if they are abusive, but Jr is her little brother and you know it would be really hard on her not to have him with her.
Taking Haleigh is hurting Jr too. Maybe some of the adults in her life deserved to be hurt, but not a little boy.
If Misty knew anything to spill I think she would have unless it means more prison time for her.
One second after she heard Hope’s sentence I think she would have had her lawyer up there telling all, if it was to her advantage.
I had better get busy and stop dwelling on what could have happened to Haleigh. I am just really upset about all of the children and adults who are missing, not just Haleigh.
I guess this had been going on all of my life, but with the internet and cable TV I know about so many cases and not just the ones in my own backyard.
Jules, ITA. It is so hard to come to terms with the idea that a person can just “go missing” and when that happens, it is usuall to go live a life of torture. Worse is that it really is hard to find these people. For example Shawn Hornbeck and Jaycee Dugard. It is great that they were found but so devastating to think that they were “present but not found.”

My understanding from the Clerk of Circuit Courts Office is Misty has plea hearing in Palatka at 9:00 a.m. 8/16 and plea hearing in St. Augustine at 9:00 a.m. 8/17. If she doesn’t plea out on those dates, both Putnam and St.Johns have her scheduled for trial date of August 23rd. Hank and Lisa are scheduled for appearances at 9:00 a.m. on 8/17 at the Putnam County Courthouse. jmo

LE and many others thinking and saying Misty is the Key have closed the doors for other options, in many peoples minds. Few people are worried about a SO still lurking out there. Many people believe Haleigh is gone and all traces of her are gone as well for ever. Too many people have made judgments based on the families lifestyles and now they have little sympathy for the remaining members. Sad because all other options were never really fully exhausted. That would be nice. Perhaps some one will make the suggestion to Sheriff Jeff Hardy.
On occasion, they will have official age enhanced photos of missing persons on our local TV station. They will say it is released by Harris County Sheriff’s Office, Houston Police Dept., etc. ….whatever is the appropriate LE agency.

Most people are sent on from where they are originally sent to the Reception Centers. But there are some that do stay. If I were Tommy Croslin, I would pray that I do not stay in the same prison as Marie’s brother.

I’m with you Simon and the family in the need of proof before I would believe she is dead. Logic tells me the Police must have more information than what we have knowledge of that convinces them she is deceased. Then on the other hand I recall how they bought right into TC’s story regarding the night he went to the home..”he even knocked on the wall” It was clear TC was lying his face off yet some how they did not seem completely convinced of that. Sadly irresponsible reporters Nancy Grace etc declared TC”S account of events as written in stone and completely valid. That was done because the media craze at the time driving headlines was to hate Misty with no proof of fact it was reported as fact. There was no sinking of teeth into that story no calling TC on to cross examine him. No desire for truth just a desire for headlines. Sadly it was and has been at this child’s expense. I would think the Police have more than just TC’s account of alleged events that night. Also it’s important to consider criminal mind set. A person carrying out a criminal act is going to mislead or lie to people he/she does not trust, I am sure the Police took into consideration that TC may be honestly telling a lie in his account of what happened.

I don’t understand. What involvement in what happened to Haleigh? It looked like LE believed T enough to conduct the search at Shell Harbor. Believed his story enough to declare this a homicide. But when they didn’t find evidence, they changed their minds and now think he was lying? I don’t understand why T told the story anyway – especially without some kind of deal in place regarding his sentence for drugs. Why implicate himself -even as a sort of accessory?
And if LE now thinks he was lying, then why should other prisoners assume he’s guilty of harming Haleigh and try to hurt him?

I keep an open mind about other scenarios but it comes down to two choices: a) believing that a gang of disadvantaged drug addicts and petty thieves can fool LE for this long or b) a maternal family kidnapping. All else aside, I choose “b.” Add in the suspicious behavior of the maternal family, and some of the paternal family as well, and it weighs in favor of “b.”
Still, I keep an open mind. Because there are no case facts to go on, or only a very few, a conclusion is premature.
So, I think they know, generally, where she is and why she is there. Definitely Marty/Johnny Sheffield and probably the rest, by now.
The fact that they are not rallying and lobbying at this point is a big red flag, imho.

TM, I guess you and I have been the unpopular vote for a NonCustodial abduction for a long time now. I still think that it has the highest possibility of being what happened.
I truly believe that when Misty woke up that night, she scared away whoever was getting ready to take Jr. too.
The rest of all of the story is what has spun out of control by the media, LE, and some drugged up young people in charge of taking care of children. None of them know what happened that night. They were all higher than a kite. Their own stupidity and actions have gotten them where they are. It also is most likely what made someone try to get them out of the picture so they could protect them from when the 3 stooges went to jail for a long time.
I think they knew even if they all got locked up for drugs, that Social Services would probably come in and take the kids and then who knows what would happen. They knew Crystal was bombed out of her mind too.
I think Haleigh (and almost Jr) were taken by those who thought they were “protecting them”. They need to be jailed for the rest of their life if that is the case. There are alot of self-righteous people out there who can justify any ignorant action they want and hide behind it as being ok. The right thing to do is not always doing the thing that is right.
I don’t think a 17 y/o and 2 men with children could fool the FBI or LE or whoever for very long. Ron, Misty and Tommy don’t know what happened. Their drug induced minds maybe think they know or know what they imagined.
It’s possible that JO played a part in drugging Misty and then getting Tommy away in the Van to party that night in the woods, so that this abduction could take place. JO probably did it for some cash or trade. IMO.
I heard that Ron and Crystal had played this little game of taking the kids or not returning them, etc before. Ron probably knew it was a high possibility that his kids could be taken, and that’s why he couldn’t believe that Misty let someone ‘stole’ his kids!!!
I think he was led to believe by LE and the media, etc. that someone had kidnapped and harmed/killed Haleigh (just like we all have been led to believe).
But, seems that nothing is quite panning out in this direction, is it? So, common sense tells me that you head a different direction.

I realize it would likely take a lot of testing and or there could be a lot of samples but if Joe OverStreet’s Semen turned up on any of them he would have a lot of explaining to do. In fact I would test any and all samples against all family.

Stranger abductions are ‘very rare’ actually. I don’t know how a stranger would of known about the back door squeaking (which is the squeaking I think jr heard) or that it slammed shut. The stranger would not of known to turn the light on for Haleigh, etc..
Someone knew Misty was a heavy sleeper (or that she had been knocked out with something by someone). Someone knew that the neighbors would hear a vehicle coming through that park late at night, so I think they used a boat. Someone knew to prop that door open, so that it didn’t slam. Someone knew to turn the light on for Haleigh. Someone knew Haleigh and Haleigh knew them, otherwise they may of risked her screaming or fighting them. Someone wanted to see Ron hurt and hurt badly. Someone wanted to see Misty get blamed. Someone wanted to hurt Ron and Misty’s families. And they have succeeded.
To me, that is no stranger. Non Custodial abduction rates are very high. There are too many motives out there for Haleigh dissapearing like she did with no evidence, no trace, no proof, no nothing!
For some reason, I suspect that maybe someone in LE knows Haleigh is ok and is trying to shut people down by saying its a homicide,(and basically can’t prove it), but we’ve locked up those who people think might of had something to do with it. So, let it go. Just a thought.

I don’t think LE is lying or covering anything up I think they have lost confidence of the people by misleading, not being honest and real. Take for instance the “no forced entry scenario” In his address to the public Greenwood stated that means it’s not a break in. Well in this world of modern tech we are exposed to case after case of Police assuming that and then they are wrong with that said it would be better to not say anything or be honest and say it’s a possibility there have been cases where that is not the case. Also his immediate attack on Misty when clearly she was picked because cops knew she would follow along they knew that about her personality plus it’s hardly a friggen high organized crime group. I smuggled more dope into Spyhill by the time I was nine than this whole group had. Just be honest or say nothing at all but don’t lie don’t manipulate. He’s on a world stage and not everyone is local home grown.

Yes, I definitely think LE is lying and that is why I suspect them of more lying. I’m not saying it is the whole force, but there could be someone on the take (just like Ron said in his audio with Cobra). I don’t trust any of them. I used to date a detective and I can tell you that he sure wasn’t what he seemed at work or what he portrayed to the public. He had a darkside and it wasn’t pretty. His work buddies were the same way, and some were very freaky. So, I know what some of them are capable of and the length they go to hide or cover stuff up.
Besides, some of them probably got a big promotion for busting Misty and gang. Seems to me that they are just out to make amends for not finding Haleigh, so they show the public that they are ‘cleaning up’ the county. LE knows when you turn on the lights, the cockroaches scatter. I think maybe they are trying to see who will run? but maybe they need to look at who has gone suddenly quiet and are hiding.
They need to ask ‘why Haleigh?’, why not some other kids at some other trailer? why when Ron was gone to work, why not when some other father went to work? why that night when JO was in town? why the night before a big court date with Crystal, who owed thousands? why the night before a custody hearing? why at a trailer that Ron claims only NayNay knows where he lives? why in a gated community? why no trace of a crime? why no evidence at the scene? why? why? why? Why won’t they start investigating some other people?

I have seen too many cases out here in San Diego where SO CAME RIGHT INTO their victims homes (Danielle Van Dam, Stephanie Crow), and took the kids. LE found NO EVIDENCE of the intruder inside the home.—look up the cases yourself. Each SO was caught based on evidence on THEMSELVES, NOT in the victimes homes or on the victims. Those who believe that a SO HAS TO LEAVE EVIDIECE AT THE SCENE is just plain WRONG.
or there actually WAS evidence in those cases and LE did not find it. Either way, just because LE says they did not find evidence of an intruder does not rule out an intruder.

I think there was a boat waiting at a dock. I think her scent was taken to wherever to throw off the dogs. But I believe that if she left that MH in good shape, that she was taken to a boat to get away.
What’s with CS story about Haliegh wandering off before and when she found her, she was face down in the water and that she had to revive her with CPR? Yet no emergency calls or reports. If a child has to have CPR, then they would need to see a Dr.

she has court in St John’s on the 17th, her court stuff in PC is not till the 23rd. TJ Hart said her last day to plea in Putnam County was the 13th and since we haven’t heard anything I figured she’s taking it to trial.

Wow, we even now have the “story” so far that “there was a boat waiting at a dock to whisk Haleigh away”. Where do you people get this stuff from, dreams?
The same place all the R did it and M did it stories came from: theorizing based on speculation or vice versa. Even the T and JO stories. No basis in fact or evidence for any of it.
Why is it so offensive to some people to even hear a theory/story that does not blame R, M, T or JO?

I have been thinking it was ron all along,BECAUSE of his actions, BUT, I have heard all the stories, of the possable abduction by Haleighs mothers side, I really dont think Misty, Tommy< Ron, or Joe, would harm or hurt haleigh in anyway purposally, and if they were high, they certainly, would of at least made one mistake, and I dont hink they are capable of fooling everyone. And if they knew they were facing long term prison time, they would of talked by now, I DO think it has something to do with haleighs mothers side, and maybe Ron, sort of knew, but they had alot on him, that they could tell, so he might have had to be quiet, and maybe when Tommy said he was scared for his kids safety, it was because, he knew what they might be capable of, their is probably more people involved in this scheme then we know. WHY, would the LE say it was a homicide, with no body, no blood, no eveidence, to lead them to that?? They probably do want the public to believe she is gone..because they prob know what really happened, and if it was ever leaked out, that the sheffields did take her, then how dumb would LE look after ALL THIS TIME??

The reason is simple. They want to believe that Haliegh’s case will get solved. If it were a stranger abduction, the chances that this will get solved are pretty slim.

Same as Ron snuck home from work, killed his child and tossed her to the alligators and went back to work.
Same as Misty killed Haleigh in a rage and had TC and JO hide her body
Same as Haleigh drug overdosed, so they tossed her dead body somewhere
Same as TC raped Haleigh and then killed her and tossed her to the alligators
Same as Mexican drug dealers who came in and stole Haleigh
Same as Crystal had her kidnapped and then never got her back.
I could go on and on…..so Im not sure of your point here??
Actually, a Non Custodial abduction, by taking Haliegh and Jr down through the woods to a waiting boat, makes a lot more sense to me. Avoids having to be seen driving a vehicle through a gated community or seen carrying a kid through the MH park, etc…..
I like to think Haleigh is alive.
I know that theory is not as ‘wild and crazy’ as drugs, guns, rape, and alligators, and probably wouldn’t sell in the media quite as much or excite the readers or followers as much; but it is logical to me and very well could of happened.
I guess I could throw in some really crazy rumors such as (it was the Caylee boat that they used) OR (Ron was driving the boat) OR (it was a Navy rescue ship)….but sorry, just plain and simple, it is a means to remove a child from a gated community, where even the neighbors have said on record that the place is very quiet and they would know if someone came driving through there in the middle of the night.
But, maybe we should stick to the same ole gossipy stories that have led this no where?? Surely that will find Haleigh and what happened to her.

Misty won’t have sentencing until after her trials (or she pleads guilty or nolo) if she is found guilty.
She has trial set in both counties on the 23rd. Obviously if she does plan to go to trial, one will have to be rescheduled.
She has Felony Docket Call in St. Johns County on the 17th.

I believe that is when we will find out if she actually does plan to go to trial there.
Tomorrow she has her last chance plea in Putnam (IIRC). (She does not have to actually go to Court for that). I kind of doubt that the SA is offering any pleas for Misty, but she could do what Tommy did and plead NOLO or guilty. I would not advise that and I doubt Fields would do that either.
Fields appears to have already prepared for a trial. He has done depositions of several LE officers/detectives, and on June 3rd stated he was ready for trial:

He also updated his witness list on June 15th. Perhaps that is the “Mystery Witness” we heard about on one of the radio shows, IIRC, it was about 2 weeks ago.

Exactly.
I fear we may never see arrests, and if we see arrests, how in the world will we see convictions? So many of the people that will be called as witnesses are all LIARS! If there were any type of evidence, there would probably already be arrests.
Well these blogs have been talk of nothing but theorys for a very long time now. I stated in my sentence that this was a “theory/opinion”. I don’t have to be attacked for it, do I?
We have evidence that “Haleigh is missing”. She is not where she was supposed to be and has not returned. Trying to make logic of where she went and why, does not “create” evidence. It is a “theory” of why she is missing and where she went and who may have taken her. You don’t need more evidence other than her missing, to “theorize” that somebody took her!! The rest is logical reasoning to me of just how she could of gotten out of the trailer and away from there without ‘any evidence’ being found. Thus, I conclude that she was taken by some other route other than walked out through the trailer park, drove away in a mystery vehicle (scratched van, red truck, silver whatever). Its no where near the elaborate stories that people on here have been talking about (rapes, murders, drug od’s, abuse, alligator feedings, drowning by cinder blocks, etc).
Anyway, Im not going to explain myself anymore. I wondered why everyone seems to have not been commenting, now I see why!
Continue on about the drug use and who is locked up and what they said from jail and who is related to who, who is wearing what on their myspace, what lawyer is doing what and what judge is saying what, and when is a court date, who was crying and what for who has an awful mug shot, who is in what prison and what everyone’s tattoo’s really mean.
I’m sure it will all help locate Haleigh and find who took her!!!!

No one should be attacked for his/her opinion, JenM! You are absolutely correct.
And without us all talking and theorizing on these blogs, HaLeigh and her case would really just “fall off the map” and she would be forgotten, for all intents and purposes. I hope no one stops talking about her. Not until she is found, brought home (however that may be) and the guilty person/parties are brought to justice! HaLeigh deserves that!
This case is horribly frustrating. LE has been so tightlipped about releasing evidence. (I suspect there isn’t a whole lot of evidence, and what there is, PCSO isn’t discussing. I think they didn’t want a repeat of the “Anthony Circus”)
I do not think there is anything wrong at all with all of us tossing ideas around. It gives us all things to think about, who knows, maybe someone will actually say something that will gives one of us a new idea.
I hope you won’t stop posting! I always enjoy your posts!

You have a great theory. Who is to say it is not correct? The only ones that can are the ones that know the truth and obviously they are laying low and not correcting (anymore) everyone’s theories.
My sister has a theory that the abductor did not use the back door to gain entrance and is positive that they came in from another way. I would argue that there is no evidence to suggest that, but, she believes it was one of the reasons that LE had the trailer so long and ripped out walls near the water heater and under the bath tub and did not take the back door. So who am I to argue with that? Honestly they took over a month to search that trailer and only took 3 days to search Shell Harbor so I am inclined to believe that there is so much we do not know and have no reason to be attacking anyone.

I do believe trying to figure out the “whys” and “how comes” of the people who surrounded HaLeigh (her family on all sides) isn’t something a normal person should attempt to do. People around this child are influenced by drugs and obviously don’t do things the way a non-drug-induced person would do. None of the Cummings/Sykes/Neves/Croslin/Sheffield/Griffis extended family behave normally for a family in a missing person case.
I fear what’s going to happen to Ron Jr and his half-siblings (Ron’s other son, Crystal’s other daughter) in upcoming years. These little children have been dealt a very unkind hand.

Notice, it very clearly says it was being held by HaLeigh’s paternal side. I would assumed the the maternal side felt shunned.
