I want to thank everyone that took time to listen in today. Jan and I had discussed not running the program this week. With so many people having July 4th commitments, who would we have as guests and listeners?
In fact we went so far as to hold a vote with our regular panel. Overwhelmingly the vote was to go ahead, so we did!
I want to thank Jan Barrett, Peter Hyatt, Denny Griffin, Dave Knechel and TJ Hart for carving out time on this holiday to go on air.
Todays program kicked off with an update on the search for missing 26 year old Pearl River resident Zachary Pittman. A story that sadly does hot seem to have the media attention it deserves. I suspect that is about to change. Joining us for that segment was his mother Christy Ragas. Jan, myself, Christy, and the new official photographer for Blogger News, lets call him Mr R, spent the afternoon together on Saturday. It included a field trip that seems to have attracted some attention from the local populous. The chief of police wants me to call him! That will be happening tomorrow.
If you are not familiar with the case, this program will bring you up to speed.
The Haleigh Cummings case continues to seemingly meander. The focus at the moment appears to be on the drug case. But I know for certain that they are still working very hard on the search for Haleigh Cummings. That was very clear from an email I received from a member of PCSO that I hold in great respect.
Over on the Caylee Anthony case we have yet more theatrics. But, I have to say that I was somewhat surprised by the analysis offered by the panel. There again, that is why we have this program. People get to express their opinions. I don’t always agree, but that does not mean that I am right (just ask Jan).
We have been running this weekly series for well over a year, I have learned a great deal during that time. Sometimes it is what is not said that is more important that what is said!
I got an early wake up call this morning. You can expect some fireworks in the coming days.

In the program I made a reference to William Cobra Staubs. I believe that my quote was that ‘He is hotter than a pepper sprout’, that is a quote from a June Carter Cash song. He just went off the Scoville chart. But more on that tomorrow…

Felony Murder, would not Tommy Croslin be guilty of Felony Murder under the Felony murder rule if he went with Joe to steal a gun and as his lawyer said the gun was not there and things went from there, well stealing a gun is a felony so under felony murder rule anything that happened to Haleigh is murder and anyone involved in the felony is guilty, right?
They have tommy on record saying this was true so they can if they want to charge him with Murder and maybe Misty as well. Looking at it this way since his lawyer is the one that took him to give this statement to FDLE, everything said to him was true. I think Tommy just does not like putnam and wants nicer diggs.

I wonder if this has anything to do with Jacob Ingram also being involved in drugs in Putnam and his father Chuck being held in Georgia on Federal charges for guns? I also wonder if the wife is running the bail company when she is not supposed to be? Something sure has Cobra hot and I will be tuning in to hear about it. GO COBRA!!!! JMO

Thank You Jan. Thats what I thought too. Hope you can really have a nice rest of the Fourth. I have been gone for a few days but I saw your post and am on my guard and plan on being a good girl.
I THINK THAT EVERYONE HAS A GOOD IDEA AS TO WHAT HAPPENED TO LITTLE HALEIGH ON THAT TERRIBLE NIGHT. IT HAS SEEMED TO ME THAT ALL OF MISTY’S FAMILY (JOE, TOMMY & MISTY) WERE DURING THAT NIGHT WAS GETTING AS HIGH AS THEY COULD. I HOPE THAT IF HALEIGH WAS KILLED BY ONE OF THEM, THAT AT LEAST SHE WAS DEAD BEFORE THEY PUT HER IN THE RIVER. HOW TERRIBLE FOR A LITTLE GIRL TO BE KILLED BY A BUNCH OF DRUG ADDICTED LOSER’S. HALEIGH MAY YOU REST IN PEACE.

Jan, Simon or Cobra, can you do some investigating and see what the LE was doing at Tommy’s at 2:13 A.M. I believe it was, that same night when they were called To Ron’s, it would be very appreciated.
If he gets thirty he may just pass out on the defense table.

Do you have a link to that? I’ve never heard of a plea deal being confirmed. Just the State Attorney’s office saying they were in negotiations. I’d like to know where you got the info that a plea deal had been confirmed…can you share please?

I think a fresh set of eyes should have been brought in when LE forgot to take the door as evidence but definitely by the time they had the first round table and found out they didn’t even have all the lab work back, although heck they may have not even sent it in at that point.
I have to keep going back to what we don’t know that LE has. I bet I would feel differently about the case.
jaba all I can say is if it does turn out to be TC then LE certainly failed Haleigh and her family. TC was at the MH that day. LE should have been all over him like white on rice.
Yea, jaba, it sure would be nice to know everything LE has, but…..ain’t gonna happen until either after the perp has been tried or after the case is so cold the Sunshine Laws kick in.

Actually, I think we should all go to Putnam County and volunteer to be “consultants” on the case. Don’t think they would take us up on the offer though.

Hello everyone. I wanted to comment on something that Peter said on Sunday’s show. It is about the Methadone Clinics and what they do and don’t represent.
Peter made a point that there are 5 Methadone Clinics in his small town in Maine.This is only important if one keeps in mind the following things about those 5 clinics.
How many patients does each clinic serve? Is the patient base strictly people from Maine or what is their patient base radius? Do they have a reputation that is getting them patients from outside their town, county, or even state?
What is the repeat rate of people going thru their programs? Do they have a lesser repeat patient rate than other clinics in the town, county, or state?
We are all capable of reading the news, be it a local paper, or on the television,on the internet, perhaps even on our phones these days. We are all very aware of the drug problems and issues that are currently plaguing our country.

Could Werter be saying what he is saying as part of a plea deal. Tommy has to say this and make it public through Werter for the deal. Seems odd that a lawyer would make these allegations about his client without a reason. However if Tommy walks because of the interigation I could think this was an out for PSO and mabey they made up the story from the begining. If Tommy gets max time then I would think Werter might have to answer a barr complaint. If it turns out what Tommy says is true then that would make him pure evil and just as guilty as Joe. I could not imagine that he or Misty did not say anything. It dont add up. Misty had nothing to loose to what happened. And possibly mabey Tommy would not have either. Can you imagine watching everyone search for her, Watching Ron drive by your house and know what happened to his daughter. And going to his house and getting into a fist fight cause your worried about Misty. Hey I watched your daughter die now im going to punch you in the face and still not tell you anything. Thats evil on a scale unpresidented. So I dont buy it. I still am Hoping the best for Haleigh.
I can not believe it!!!! LE just announced that Kyron Hormens’ stupid stepmother tried to hire her landscaper to kill her husband. This is so sick. Now we can pretty much guess what the end to this story is going to be. Sorry, off subject. Just had to vent!!!

prayers, love, and hugs for HaLeigh, Kyron, and Zachary. In Illinois very close to where I live there is also a missing person case for Brad Olsen, since 1/07.

Olsen’s friends had picked him up on Jan. 19 at the Maple Park, IL home he shared with his parents. After a night on the town at Bar One in DeKalb (1000 W. Lincoln Hwy), his friends–a married couple, his mother recalled–left early while Olsen stayed behind. At closing time, he called a friend for a ride home. (He last used his cell phone at 2:24 a.m., police said.) The friend was unable to pick him up. The last anyone remembers seeing him was about 2:25 a.m. on Jan. 20 when he was trying to find a ride home. He is still missing. As of now, police have no new leads on his whereabouts.
so strange how these things happen. His mom has not given up yet.. but there has been no word in several months now.
Each day is a gift… have a happy Monday all and stay safe.

I hope things are closing in on these cases and they get solved soon. We need justice for those victims!
If Tommy is busted for this, I wonder if they will lower the sentence, etc for Misty on the drug charges? I think she is so messed up in the head for all the stuff she has witnessed, been subject to, and has gone through. That is a lot for a very young girl. If it is Tommy, then she probably couldn’t handle the guilt of being the one to rat him out, plus she probably figured no one would beleive her. She is a victim herself.
The only victims in this case are Haleigh and Junior. All the rest are not even close to being victims. jmo
I also believe Tommy, Misty andRon had better get used to being accused because when they go off to prison its going to be very different than county jail.imho
I agree Tobias. The little ones are totally innocent. The rest of them chose to sell drugs and got caught-too bad!

Also, Tommy’s lawyer states that he is not guilty of FELONY MURDER..there are several other forms of homicide that he could be guilty of.

I don’t mean that Misty is a victim from selling the drugs, I mean from the environment she grew up in as a child and the things that happened to her.
Yes, the little children are the innocent ones and those are the ones that fall victim. I hope Haleigh is alive and well somewhere. I pray for little Kyron too.

July 6th at 1:30, Tommy goes to court for sentencing on his drug charges and trafficking.

I noticed yesterday a lot of folks here were ragging on TC’s attorney, Jim Werter. Well, I think maybe we ought to look at the facts as to his expertise in this matter.
TC was charged with a felony, Grand Theft for the alleged theft of a firearm from his next door neighbor. Note Felony is the operative word here. Werter finally got the charges dropped to a “misdemeanor trespass” and TC was sentenced to, get this “time served.”
Pretty good “lawyering” if you ask me.
Plus Mr. Martin probably didn’t want to go to trial either since he never wanted to press charges to begin with.

This is not to take away from Werter because good lawyers are supposed to get their client the best deal. It’s just something that I’ve been thinking about.
Wasn’t T in jail with a high bond for the gun charge? And that’s when he said he’d been at the MH that night and no one was there? And suddenly his bail was lowered? Am I remembering that correctly?
And now T has told another story (the river/Joe) and may get another good deal. Right?
So is he telling the truth or saying what someone wants him to say in order to get the deal?

m2c, I have wondered about that also, whether Tommy is just saying what LE wants him to say in order to get a deal? Hopefully one day we will know the truth.
As I recall, he was in jail on that Grand Theft charge I mentioned above with a $50,00 bond. And it was reduced to $5,000 when he made up “the lie” about going over to the trailer, knocking on the door at 10 pm and nobody answered.
Typical of PCSO of applying any pressure they can to get something on the Haleigh case. I’m sure they’re very frustrated. As to the bond reduction, well, if you believe that Tommy made up “the lie” to get his bond reduced, they the PCSO got snookered.
As far as I know, Tommy hasn’t been charged (no one has) in the Haleigh case so it makes no sense to talk about a deal in the Haleigh case as there are no charges on the table.

Thank you for remembering the gun story and bond info.
I know there are no charges in Haleigh’s case but I was imagining that it’s possible that a state attorney could promise Tommy a deal on the drug charges in exchange for info about Haleigh. I even thought that M at least if not Tommy, too, were deliberately targeted for the drug sting for this purpose. So that’s why I’m wondering if the river/Joe story was T’s response to a possible deal on his drug charges.
I think T is desperate to get out of jail so he might go for that even if he had to make up a story.
The problem is that he has placed himself at the scene twice now and as someone pointed out earlier, maybe he could be charged in relation to Haleigh’s case based on his own words! There’s no proof of course so maybe that would not succeed. But it all has me wondering anyway.
Yea, methinks, I keep checking for a new article, the suspense is building, LOL.
m2c, I agree. It’s very possible, I think that due to his own words le could bring some kind of charges against him. He absolutely DID place himself at the scene TWICE. In my opinion, thats similar to a confession of sorts. He may not have confessed to the murder of Haleigh, but he confessed that he was there, did nothing to protect her and then lied to le about what happened or didn’t happen.I think he should get charged with something.
also, if what he said is true, he confessed to helping to conceal the crime by helping to get rid of her body.

Hopefully there will be a new article soon. This one seems to be taking a long time to refresh even though there aren’t that many comments. Probably all the docket stuff.
I’m really curious to see what Cobra is up to. I’ve just had this gut feeling. I think Karma is on his side this time. You can’t keep one of the good ole boys down for long. He may cuss like a sailor like a lot of you have mentioned, but this case alone would make you do that and we aren’t nearly as close to the case as he is. I’m sure he knows more than any of us have any idea. He was there for Haleigh from day one and still is. They just had his arms tied for a little bit. They wanted him the hell out of there really bad. I’m not sure what lengths they may have gone to to make sure he was gone. I seriously think it’s more than possible that he was in harms way. The question is, why did they want him gone so bad. He must have been way too close to something for their comfort.
Guess we’ll have to wait and see. Don’t believe it’s gonna be too long though.
Maybe the “deal” was made on the Felony gun charge because they really didn’t want the victim to testify to the fact that LE coerced the victim into filing a complaint. He had the gun back, did not want to press charges, and was pretty much forced to press charges by LE.
I think that may have had more to do with it then what Werter did.

His story is hogwash in my book. Either TC did something to/with Haleigh on his own, or he made up this elaborate story, at the encouragement of PCSO, just so he could get out of jail.
WhyLie, that could very well be the case. I’m just waiting to see if there will be another “reward” of some kind following the latest story. And if that’s a pattern or not? At first it seemed like there was going to be. But with no results at the river search and POSSIBLY PCSO mad at Tommy, maybe there won’t be any deal. It all just seems like something’s going on behind the scenes – again possibly.
To me what would be a shame if Joe really did murder/rape HaLieghs,an they dont have enough to charge him.An he walks free in Tenn the rest of his life.He was deceptive when he spoke,all the signs of deception were there.So what is he concealing????

I really though just before the draining of the pond,when the letter went out about NayNay,WBG,MC an the party oding of Haliegh.That it was stated a fresh pair of eyes,as paople call it.Had came onto the case just prier to her letter to Donnie.I remember that clearly.
If rumor,or truth,im searching for the link i did read it in a artical,not a comment on a blog.FBI should have stepped in a long time ago.But i guess each have a order of what cases they handle.Or if they over step investigators from PC.I do belive they have had many request to step in.
If PCSO thought there was any validity to TC’s story about Shell Harbor why didn’t they search it way back when. TC told Ron the story about JO and Shell Harbor, I am sure Ron shared that story with PCSO, he certainly shared the story with Cobra.
Why the HE77 wasn’t a search done then? There was donations being made to the HBC, why didn’t Crystal, Marie, KP, Cobra make sure that area was searched given TC’s story about JO. Heck I am sure KidFinders would have brought up the boat for that search.
It really ticks me off that maybe that baby was in there and could have been found well over a year ago AND nobody did anything then.

What I’m afraid of is that PCSO thought this was a chance to “wrap things up” and get the public pressur of of them. So they go back to a story they ignored, get T to validate it, call it a homicide out of the blue and then come up with nothing. But they’ve got an excuse for that, too. Time. Time washed all evidence away. But they can still try to leave it in the public’s mind that that is what happened to Haleigh.
I don’t know if it’s intentional but that seems to be what’s happening – if we let it.
m2c, It certainly does. I would love to ask Cobra why that area was not searched given the information that HE had. Cobra talked about traipsing through the swamps with TC, did Cobra ask TC about the JO story? If not, why the heck not? There are to many WHY’s in this case. Far, far to many.

I think because Tommy did it and he was waiting to see how many people would buy the JO story before he squealed it out himself. Heck, Ron even suspected JO due to Misty telling him stuff that day. Misty went with the story too because (I beleive) everyone pressured her into it. She got reminders from HankSr that Tommy was innocent and she better stop lying and from Lisa that she was lying.
I honestly think they threw him under the bus, because he looked suspect and two, they were going to protect Tommy at all costs. (he’s real family, so to speak).
However, I think Tommy did it and Joe was there and was just as guilty. The door was set up by Tommy to cover his tracks.
JO is in a predictament for sure! He has already said he doesn’t know anything about it. So, now, if he turns around and says it was Tommy who did it, he will be guilty of lying and will go down too. So, he will only try to clear his name and stick to his story.
This is all if Tommy is guilty.
But, I posted what I really think about the whole case, and that is that some unknown drug buyers were let into the MH that night. I think Tommy and Joe were supposed to give them Ron’s gun in exchange for the drugs. Only they helped themselves to Haleigh and made Joe drive them to the river when they were done with her. I think they got rid of the gun in the ditch so it wouldn’t be found on them. Tommy was guilty of putting Haleigh in danger and the reason she was gone. So he set that back door up and headed home. JO, scared to death, made his way back through the woods to the MH park in the Van and parked it in the wrong spot.
Tommy doesn’t want to go down for the murder of Haleigh, so he is ratting out JO for it. JO can’t say what happened, cause he will go down as an accomplice. They are both guilty somehow in my book and played a part in this whole thing.
ILovetheshowmm, it sure could be the other way around, that Joe is guilty. Maybe he brought some unknowns to the MH to get the gun from him in exchange for drugs.
I think Misty could be guilty of
1. letting people in the MH against Ron’s rules
2. selling her pills out of the MH without Ron knowing it.
Remember, Tommy was over at Misty’s for the day and night. He was there for a Reason! To get pills! He was jonzin for them!(he admitted this on the jail tapes). He sure wasn’t there to look through the family albums and talk to Misty.
So, either Misty had the pills he wanted at the MH, OR someone was delivering them to the MH, OR they don’t recall who was there, or him and JO got messed up bad on METH, or someone from the woods was brought back to the MH.
If Misty had them, then she was probably selling them to whoever that night out of the MH, since she was told she had to stay there and babysit, instead of going to her party. Which tells me the party may of come to her. In which case, NayNay may of brought over some people??? Lord knows she couldn’t tell Ron the truth on that one! (Espec. if it was WBG!)
Tommy keeps telling Misty to quit protecting Ron. I think this has nothing to do with keeping him from getting in trouble. This has to do with quit protecting him from getting hurt. Hurt by the truth!!!! That she had others over at the MH that night and was dealing out of the MH with the kids there.
Misty would protect herself by lying about this because she didn’t want Ron to hate her. He would really then see it as her fault. Plus, she would have to tell on a lot of people.
Misty is so focused on ‘after she woke up’ because she doesn’t want to deal with all the stuff that happened before that.
TC needed pills according to him. According to Chelsea, Timmy had pills. Why didn’t TC just get some pills from Timmy if he needed pills as he claimed?
If TC and/or JO went to the mobile home for the gun why didn’t they take it. The gun was there, LE took the gun after they arrived at the MH, so it had to have been there.
I heard that the gun was later found in a ditch by LE, is that not true?
I also have read many times that the reason TC got a misdemeanor for stealing from the blind guy was that they really were not sure who stole from him, TC or Lisa. Lisa returned it after Tommy got accused of it. I don’t know, but that is what I thought from what I had read.
JenM, The gun that was found in a ditch was Ron’s gun that was stolen a few weeks before Haleigh went missing.
Ron said that the first day he met JO his gun turned up missing. It was the 3rd day JO was in town.

I am seriously doubting Florida LE. I just finished watching a program on TV, Cold Case Files. Lynn Lopez and her husband Jay were in bed in their home November 13th 1996 in Tampa Florida when an intruder broke in. The intruder got in a fight with the husband and stabbed him to death. Then the intruder raped Lynn Lopez and made her get in the shower he then set the living room on fire and left. Lynn Lopez made it out of the home and met Officers on the lawn and asked if her husband was OK. The officer felt her demeanor was to calm and suspicious. The detectives on the case turned their focus on Lynn Lopez saying her story made no sense because the intruder didn’t kill her. The officers repeatedly told her they had nothing and that they concluded the scene was not consistent with her story and her reaction was not usual. With that the detectives asked her to take a lie detector and she failed miserably, showed deception! 6 years later and after therapy Lynn Lopez asks a detective to her therapist office to go over the case and it is re-opened. Long story short DNA places Chat lioy at the scene who admits to the crime and Lynn was completely innocent. The explanation given for the failed lie detector was that maybe she was emotional. Hmmm
I take my theory on Lie detectors and giving one in a case of a child I now don’t believe I would go into one even in the case of a child. Fact is it was not her right, wrong, usual, or not usual reaction, it was that they thought she was involved and by that she failed the test.
Is Mr.Hardy absolutely sure he has this case right because I don’t believe lie detectors and I don’t believe LE who can’t figure out a scene. New eyes new minds are needed in this case. JMHO

As usual, my opinion being my own isn’t worth a tinkers d…., but.. The more the issues of pcso versus tommy, come out.. the more I have to wonder if PCSO is trying one last ditch effort to push for a story, a tad of evidence, anything to build their case on.. Their case seems to be balancing on top of a needle and I’m waiting for it to fall off.. Once, PCSO has lost misty, tommy or joe as suspects, where will they go??
Lets be honest and direct here guys.. And to realize this as a truth, you have to go back to the beginning. There was no evidence of foul play in that residence that night.. Nada!!
There was nothing to be found in the van.. Nada!! You can’t have a crime in the home or the van, and not have evidence.. it doesn’t work that way.. And the 5 feet of rope, go back and look at the photos of ron’s front screen door.. Ta DA.. there’s 5 feet of rope tied to that handle.. this information doesn’t change, its on a legal document, interviews with PCSO, and in Photographs..
This isn’t brain surgery, misty recanted as she always does, her story was crap and from her imagination and her cellmates.. Tommys story was based on Misty’s recanted story, so tommy story should have been thrown out with the wash water also.. What are they going to do, prosecute tommy for a crime that he didn’t commit, and very well, a crime that never was committed? We base our opinions on what we hear or read, rather than what we know, and thats a sad sad thing.. If they attempt to prosecute tommy for the homicide of Haleigh, and are successful.. I mean after all this is Putnam County, and where would they find 12 people in Putnam to serve on a jury, that will really look for evidence, rather than a pre conceived idea, “he must be guilty, they charge him..” That to me is very frightening.
After he set in prison for the next 20 years, and suddenly this child who disappeared, has grown up and come home to Putnam County and is recognized.. Who’s going to give tommy his peace of mind back.. Oh yea, I forgot he’s a drug dealer, he deserves this.. well maybe he does, maybe he doesn’t..

dusty rose- regarding comment on ldt, i agree. my relative was fbi and that was his job to give those many years ago. he told me he could make anyone pass or fail a test. whoever administers them have that ability. i would never let one of mine take one if anything ever happened. but for some reason recently people think they determine guilt or innocent.
It looks like what I can tell is that Tommy’s court date is being continued. Anyone know anything different?

The gun that JO was looking for was an assault rifle and it wasn’t there. RC had loaned it to his uncle a few days before.

Forgive me if this has been mentioned, but if the PCSO really did violate Tommy’s right to representation (and/or other rights I can’t think of the constitutional phrasing of), could that cause a mistrial (or other names for throwing out a case?) Just wondering.
Regarding Peter’s interpretation of Werter’s comment about Joe Overstreet being “skinny and happy” in Tennessee, I don’t think this was a snide comment about Joe’s appearance. The usual phrase that I’ve heard is “fat and happy,” meaning something like ‘safe and secure and satisfied.’ I think Werter was going for that meaning, but changing ‘fat’ to ‘skinny’ because, if you want to get literal, ‘fat’ doesn’t apply to Joe in any way, shape form.
Does anyone else think this?

I don’t know if PCSO is working hard or not. I can say that there can be a HUGE difference between working hard and working smart.
If they’re on the wrong track, or missed some evidence or whatever, it won’t matter how hard they work. The chances of finding out what happened to Haleigh are slim.
Working “smart” would be helpful IMO.
