Donna IS a trafficker imo. An adult woman in her 40′s going out of state, procuring drugs, bringing them back to the State of Florida, and selling them.

This in between stuff, people getting some pills for somebody else in exchange for a few bucks and a couple of pills is not what the drug trafficking laws were intended to deal with.

1st time offender status does not matter on charges where there is a mandatory sentence. Misty’s only hope for a lighter sentence is if the Judge decides to sentence her under the Youthful Offender guidelines. Again in St. Johns County Misty is facing one of the toughest (and imo best) judges around, Misty better do something soon to help herself before she stands before Judge Berger for sentencing.

The way that judge just looked at Hope scared me,My knees would still be knocking,man he looks mean as a junkyard dog! imo.lol

I am confused on how Hope plead no contest and received a min mandatory of 15 years but Tommy thinks his minimum is 3 years. Does anybody get that?? What am I missing??

Here in CA they have drug court & it doesn’t matter how many charges or if they are in multiple counties, it just matters if you have ever been in it or had it offered to you. I beleive it’s called Prop 36 and they can test dirty a few times in the program before they are thrown out! After that there are no more chances.
Misty should be offered something like that!

a. Is 4 grams or more, but less than 14 grams, such person shall be sentenced to a mandatory minimum term of imprisonment of 3 years, and the defendant shall be ordered to pay a fine of $50,000.

b. Is 14 grams or more, but less than 28 grams, such person shall be sentenced to a mandatory minimum term of imprisonment of 15 years, and the defendant shall be ordered to pay a fine of $100,000.

c. Is 28 grams or more, but less than 30 kilograms, such person shall be sentenced to a mandatory minimum term of imprisonment of 25 calendar years and pay a fine of $500,000.

Oh I see On that tape where Ron cops the pill Hope handed him 24 pills I believe he said and thats what got her the 15 years. 24 pills and their gram wieght. jmo

Misty does not qualify for the Diversion program because this part of the clause “The court will not allow a defendant into the program if they find that the defendant was dealing or selling controlled substances.” Misty is charged with trafficking (selling) controlled substances.

On the drug charges for Tommy/Hope, Tommy is charged with a lessor crime because of the weight of the controlled substances he sold, his min/max mandatory sentencing for that crime is 3 min/15 max mandatory. Hope was charged with a higher crime because she sold more than Tommy and her mandatory sentencing was 15 min/25 max. Where Hope screwed up is she also qualified for the YO status, but basically (in taped video to her mom) told the judge he could f*ck that.

Tommy thinks he can beat the other charges, he claims they have no proof he did any of them, which could be. The old mans gun was returned by Lisa and Hank not Tommy, unless his prints showed up on it that would be hard to prove Lisa didnt actually take it. The BE he claims others could have done that too so who knows unless they have prints on those items also.
I think he did them all but the PA has to prove it. jmo

What I don’t understand is why Hope’s fine was so large.

I think the gun theft is going to get tossed out. The victim did not want to press charges and does not want to testify. No way to prove if it was actually Tommy that took it or Lisa.

There was a motion to dismiss filed on that case on May 14th but I don’t see a ruling on the motion as of yet.

WhyLie, May 14th?? What day way Tommy in court and plead nolo? Is it possible that Tommy has made a deal that hasn’t been revealed yet and those charges being dismissed is part of the deal? Next few weeks should be interesting. Aren’t Tommy’s sentencing hearing and Ron’s next court date right around the same time (within days of each other)?

We as a society in the United States have so many programs for these people to help themselves yet they dont take advantage of the services. To me that says they dont care to change. Misty had opportunities to go to get her GED but she didnt, she could have got a job at 16 but she didnt, any Library has reading classes free of charge. What ever happened to help those who help themselves?
Why do some feel we need to phsically grab these people and force them to get the education that they should want for themselves?jmo

Cricket–I agree wholeheartedly with you. Misty should be given the chance to rehabilitate herself and lead a productive life with a promising future. I think she might qualify for the youthful offender status (at least I pray she does) even with the two different cases in different counties. Maybe that’s why her lawyer has not corrected two different court cases on the same day. If he can combine both cases, then I think she definately has a chance at youth offender status, but it is at the discretion of the judge (if I understand it). If she does qualify, then it is up to her to straighten up the mess she has created of her life and her future. I hope if she gets the chance she uses it wisely because sometimes ONE CHANCE is all you get. Life is what you make of it and maybe with this chance she can realize that she does NOT have to concentrate on the next fix or the next man to take advantage of her.

I know this all about Haleigh. But I have a question about Donna B. She took Misty to another state for dental work and acquired prescription drugs in different names allegedly prescription drugs. If true it looks like Donna is guilty of trafficing between states. Maybe a federal charge? She’s 40 something. I don’t think she was sucked into this but a planner to make money.

AND Tommy was not the person that was supposed to be protecting Haleigh the night she was harmed, Ron and Misty were! Why does the person that allowed Haleigh to be harmed get more sympathy?

At what point do Misty and Tommy have to take responsibility for their own actions and not get to blame everything on their poor excuses for parents and their parents lousy choices in lifestyle?

I had really bad parents, they both should have been sterilized the day they were born, does that mean I can go out and deal drugs, rob a bank, murder someone and blame it all on them and walk away with no consequences?

JenM – if Misty was pregant she would have messed up and talked about it on the videos. Unless all of that has been redacted, because that is a private and personal matter which has nothing to do with the case. I think it’s just all the Twinkies and Ding Dongs. I’m sure she is depressed to a certain degree, and she could care less what she looks like.

BTW, I am a college graduate, with no help from anyone, put myself through college by working 3 jobs and going to school full time after walking away from my horrible parents at the age of 14, living on the streets for months then going to live with an aunt and uncle and working 2 part time jobs all through high school and graduating in the top 5% of my high school class. And even when I was living on the street (never reported missing) I “washed” in gas station bathrooms and still got myself to school everyday. Never been in any trouble with the law, not even a traffic ticket. So no I don’t have a lot of sympathy for Misty when she CHOOSE to become a criminal drug dealer.

LadySadie–I do feel sympathy for Misty and absolutely NONE for Tommy. Tommy has prior charges for B and Es and other offenses and he has children that he evidently thought nothing of when he committed his several offenses. Misty has no responsibilty other than to herself. Tommy had a wife and children that should have influenced his decision making skills, but as we see they had no bearing on his criminal offenses.

A lot of people have a rough life. But not everyone is an addict. Big difference. Don’t be judgmental of something you probably know nothing about.

that said, i know what you mean, re: your growing-up years. the abuse was so bad in our family, it landed several of us in long-term counseling, and worst of all, one of my sisters lost her life at the hands of our “mother” (use that term loosely). both of our parents were alcoholics, 3 out of 4 grandparents as well, and a long line before them.

we went through alot, and still to this day, we have our times when its overwhelming to think about it…but…out of 5 surviving kids, NONE of us are, or ever have been alcoholics, drug addicts, abusive to children or anyone else; none of us has ever been arrested, done anything to get arrested, or expected others to take up for us in life.

we did not come out of that family home with the tools equipping us to make these choices. we learned along the way. i see that these people involved do not possess the tools to have made better choices either…hopefully, with whatever time they may serve, they can also get counseling, or whatever it takes for them to learn these wise lessons.

Our prisons are full of drug addicts. They commit crimes to survive or get their addiction needs met. Are they really criminals? I guess its a matter of opinion.

I for one would like to see criminals locked away and addicts get the help they need. Make drugs legal and that will cut down on crimes and a slew of other things. Stop putting everyone through the revolving door syndrome. But I guess that is a whole other topic/blog.

I joined a group to learn how to deal with this problem. I learned what I was doing wrong coddling an addict does not help.

tobias, I have previously stated that I don’t care who took Haleigh I want them convicted to the fullest extent of the law. I don’t think anyone here is referring to anything past the drug charges.
You know in the past I have seen you post compassionate posts for Crystal many times. Crystal is much older than Misty and she has still made bad decisions. Regardless I hope she will grow up and change. Why don’t you have any of that kindness for Misty? I hope they will both grow up and improve themselves.

We just had a meth lab blow up tonight right down the road. It blew off the backside of the house and yet Meth is not considered worse than these prescription drugs that these people had. To clean up a meth lab you have to call a HazMat team, which is another added expense. Drug Laws are a joke! Meth laws are so lax and yet this drug is so much more harmful to anyone than these prescription drugs. I am definately amazed by these laws!

This is a poem passed on to me by a relative of the 21 year old female who lost her life while addicted to crystal meth. This is a true happening. A 21 year old female was addicted to crystal meth, overdosed, and lost her life.

After her death, they were cleaning out her apartment and in her top dresser drawer, found a poem she had written.

Thanks OJ- I wondered one of the young ladies that was involved in the drug house use to go to school with my younger son. She was a beauty in High School but when they arrested her, I didn’t even recognize her. Her face was scarred and pockmarked! My son said that’s Theresa and I was stunned! I didn’t know it was from the drugs. I thought she did drugs because something happened to her face!

Here we all sit 16 months later offering our opinions and theories; we’ve watched local LE search a farm, a pond and a river yet still NO ARRESTS. I know Jason L. (FDLE) had a wonderful resume for solving difficult/complex crimes, but he doesn’t appear to have had much luck with this case.

I’m beginning to agree with OJ, Misty knows nothing and has told all she can.

It seems Tommy was at the home that night, but even his story doesn’t appear to have panned out, he was just looking for a ‘Get out of Jail Free’ card.

Is this a cold case now, cancelling the Amber Alert, announcing this is a Homicide, WHY? What proof of a homicide (Tommy’s lies)?

For months LE told us it was a non-stranger abduction, they were looking for an alive child, now suddenly it’s a homicide…………….I say B/S.

This case will not GO AWAY, as some may wish, there are too many here that genuinely care about precious HaLeigh with the beautiful smile, too many care about justice, too many that care about the truth and seeing that all involved are brought to justice.

with all the talk about meth (crank) here, i have to say, i have always wondered if that has at any time been lisa’s “drug of choice”. it seems like i can see it in her face. she is only 40 yrs. old…she looks alot older than her years, which is one of the effects of crank. it kills people inside out, and outside in.

*oj* made a good suggestion to go look at the “meth photos” on just about any county jail website (not all). you will be shocked how terrible these people look after just a few months…and after a few years, you can’t even hardly recognize them.

Yes it could be. If you notice, the mans eyes in both of the pics are looking toward the same direction. That is a pretty big coincidence. But, I am glad that some one noticed me on here. I was starting to think that I had to be a member or something before my posts would show up to every one else. As far as where I stand on this case at the moment, I pretty much think that Cathy Jo has the same theory as mine. Although, OJ makes alot of since with the actual framing of this bunch just to gain info in the Haleigh case. Ty for responding jaba.

Excellent post and I totally agree. I so wish she had one good adult role model in her life to take her under their wing. I can’t imagine what it would be like to grow up like that and don’t imagine I would have been doing much better at 17 if that had been my upbringing.

What ever the outcome I find it hard to blame Misty for anything. She was born into this family and when most of us have parents that teach us to be honest and not to lie and be a good person, Misty was the opposite. Homeless with drugs all around. I doubt she quit school on her own. They moved around so much and living in a car. Little or no food many days. Perhaps Hank and Lisa feared DCS would investigate them and told her to stay out of school.

Ronald on the other hand had a better up bringing. Mother (maybe not the best one but never homeless or abused) Grand Father that taught him to be good to women and children and work hard (his own words) and still he refused education.

I hope and pray Haleigh is alive and well and that where ever she is; she is found soon. I think Misty needs some serious therapy. Prison will just make her worse than what she is now. She has been abandoned enough by everyone in her life already. The state should have taken her from Hank and Lisa years ago. I blame the State on the way Misty is just as much as I blame her parents.

Get this girl help before she gets any worse!

The people of florida will adjudicate misty based on their laws. If one wanted to help change laws or sentencing guideline there is certainly a process to go through. I wonder if any Floridias here will participate in trying to change the way things are? Let us know what your plans are. I’d be interested in seeing how firmly folks believe what they are saying and are willing to do something about it.

The current guidelines are there because someone acted with more than words.

Heck, even if you are outside Florida I’d love to hear actionable steps one will take to change the system.

There are plenty of examples of bad environments producing good people. These players didn’t make it like that.

I think there are a lot of people who use drugs (and no it doesn’t have to just be crack and meth, etc) and have children to care for. I could probably point out tons of people who use alcohol everyday and have children in their care. I guess I am just concerned at how judgmental we can be when someone is exposed they way they are. If someone exposed us, then we would probably be judged too.

I remember when going through a divorce, my Ex demanded that the kids have “their own” attorney. She was a mere “350.00 an hour” special kid attorney. She ragged on me in court and questioned my being a good parent, because my kids helped make their own lunches the night before school. “SHE” thought that was awful and just couldn’t see how I could do such a thing! She suggested that either I make them or let the cook make them. Well I had to inform her that I didn’t have a cook!
She truly judged me compared to her lifestyle. I think a lot of people do that to this situation.
Im not saying that the situation at the Cummings/Croslin/Sheffield households or environment isn’t bad (because I think it is), but I think we have to be careful judging from our view of things from our life. Unless we are in that situation, we can’t have a true perspective.
We can try and help others better themselves or help them change, but to beat them down even more does not do anything but worsen the situation and keep it repeating itself.

When I think of that snooty attorney, I would of liked to have told her that those who get to high on their horse, eventually fall off, OR are pushed off.

Misty should qualify for the Youthful Offender program, what she doesn’t qualify for is the Diversion program. I do hope that Misty can make a deal where she gets into the Youthful Offender program. Here are some of the programs that are part of the YO program:

As I have said over and over, there is help out there for Misty in her present situation, but she is going to have to help herself and make a deal pretty soon.

Jaba, the system is very hard to change. It seems it takes a whole lot of work to change one little thing. Voting is one way everyone can help, but not everyone does this.

For myself, I get involved on a legislative level. I mainly have actively worked towards changing two areas of the law in the state I live in.

One area is in changing the laws for Juveniles in the Criminal Justice System who happen to be mentally ill. It involves be a part of the governors taskforce to look at the issues. Over 9 years now, there has been changes which were positive.

Here is just one example of change that makes a big difference: There have been preventative measures put in place to test children earlier and identify those ‘at risk’.

So, lets use Misty as an example. The present situation is she was a child in school, but dropped out early on, I believe in 5th? grade. I think we all know the rest of the story….

But, if while in school, Misty had been tested for possible issues (i.e. mental illness, which can cover learning disabilities, behavior issues, etc), she may of been targeted as an ‘at risk’ child. This catches them, so to speak, before they get to the point of drop out such as Misty did.

Of course, I can’t go into all the details on here, as there are so many, but I do believe that we can stop a lot of things that go on in society if we make the effort.

Problem is, people would rather sit back and complain than to do anything about it. Most the time it is lack of education and understanding on their part to begin with, so they aren’t able to help. Other times it can be downright thought process or beliefs that it is not their responsibility to help others.

Anyway, I will be late for work if I keep writing, but I do think that there are many Misty’s and Ron’s and Tommy’s out there, along with many more Haleigh’s to come. It’s sad.

I think we all would like to change the world, but we forget that all it takes is one person.

Back on Misty’s appearance. What do you expect her to look like? She doesn’t have the proper grooming materials, and she’s eating because she’s bored, and stressed. Did anyone think she was going to come out of her jail cell looking like a princess? She’s serving long hard days right now. I would be going crazy. Maybe she deserves it, and maybe she doesn’t.

One more thing, I want to say that it takes a lot more than just judging people and throwing programs at them, and then judging them more. There are tons of resources and programs out there for everyone to take advantage of. We have to look deeper than that.

For example, I know a lot of adults who have graduated HS and not gone to college. “What if” someone sat back and said, Gee, there are so many colleges out there, you could of went to any of them but you chose not to! You must not of wanted to learn to do anything or do anything with your life! (That hardly seems to be a fair conclusion).

Same prinicipal applies here. Because Misty didn’t ‘take advantage’ of stuff when she was a child, does not mean she didn’t want to be good or make good of her life. I think she did have a desire to do right. However, there are many other factors that filter in here. (Not to mention that she was a child in elementary school, not an adult who was already out of school.)

Making judgments and thinking otherwise, in my opinion, is just plain “shallow thinking” on others behalf.

But have to go to work. You all have a great discussion today! I hope you all help find Haleigh!!!!!!!!!!

I looked up the pre-sentencing investigation law. I found it interesting. If a person is incarcerated the probation dept. helps decide what facility they will do their time and what programs they need while incarcerated. If without a diploma;they receive GED classes. If for drugs; they drug programs. It will also estalblish probation upon release.
On the Early Show back in Sept/October 2009 Misty said then she wanted to get a job and go back to school. Why did she not attempt it then? Instead, she stayed on the path she was already on. Someone claimed Donna Brock had a child sell drugs and even gave them to Misty. They wanted Donna Broch to get what was coming to her. This should also include Ronald he did the same thing with Misty, plus he was having sex with her.
The thing is now that both Misty and Tommy with the time they are sentenced, will be put into programs that will be helpful to them.

JB, Hope’s lawyer was working on getting her in the YO program, that is when Hope said they could f*ck that, and is a very large part of why she got the sentence that she did.

There is no valid reason that the judge would not sentence Misty as a YO. She has no priors. Her family history, lack of education, drug use, lack of any job skills, her age, and size (although that is changing), makes her the perfect candidate for the YO program.

The DOC can also classify her as a YO but I can’t find out any clear guidelines on how DOC doing that would change her sentence, if at all. I am still researching that aspect of it.

Such a saddening story. It’s about that time for someone to step up to the plate, tell the truth, and confess.

WhyLie – let us know what you find out. The YO program protocol is a little sketchy to me….but I thought it was stated with documentation on here before that the charges in two counties disqualify her from the YO program. I don’t know how much “wiggle room” they have.

I’ve been reading people’s thoughts and ideas regarding Misty. Personally I have little compassion for her at the memnt due to the fact that IMO Misty is willingly holding back information about what happened to Haleigh Cummings. Misty places herself first imo. Just as Misty said in that UC sting operation that Haleigh somehow negatively influenced Misty’s birthday, it was all about Misty even after Haleigh’s disappearance. Misty appears to have little compassion for Haleigh.
That should not sit well with anyone truly compassionate person.

As for Misty’s upbringing or lack thereof, Misty is now an adult and she is now accountable for her own comeupperance. Misty has choices that only she can make now. Misty is responsible for number one now. Misty has no one else to blame if she does not reach out and accept any positive opportunities that are offered to her at any time.

PS I completely understand the arguments regarding addiction and the crime/punishment assigned to those who are arrested for participating in illegal activities of this nature.
Addiction is a disease. There is help available.
IMO people who illegally distribute drugs to others are in essence poisoning the rest of society and placing others at risk of the disease of addiction and possible death as well. Many people have died due to use of drugs and/or have committed crimes against others while under the influence.
IMO it doesn’t even matter how much of a drug someone might be arrested for illegally selling. jmo

Drug abusers need more comprehensive medical attention for their addiction. If folks want to help society heal from drug use/abuse then much more of the focus must be directed towards the disease itself.

Hope’s mom sounded like she was a concerned and loving parent but Hope sure seemed disrespectful and kind of mushy when she talked about Ron. If I remember correctly she said he would take the blame for her!

What’s a few pill sales here and there? No biggie if those few fuel or start an addiction of another to further bury people in their lives of crapola. What’s the big deal? Do all the drugs you want, its your life, it doesn’t affect anyone else. No stealing, no killing, no robbery, no kids in the middle of it all. Don’t worry about it, everybody does it. No one ever died from it.

For now and as for the drug users themselves the crime/punishment system seems little more than a prophalactyc (sp?) for society. Eventually these people will be released back into the general public and if their addiction/medical condition has not been addressed properly then what is there to stop them from getting caught back up in their addictions?
This is the very expensive cog in the wheel imvho as it leads to the extremely high rates of recidivism.

Illegal drug manufacturers and drug dealers be it street drugs or illegal prescription medications should be serving the harshest sentences imvho.

Lindsy has said often how she tried to scare away his druggy friends but it didnt work. She also knows who they are and where they live, she said she did in one of the tapes and I thought it was odd that she would declare that info on tape for FDLE to hear.
Another thing that is strange is how did Misty know about the BE unless she took part in it, she was at CJs and Rons at the time. jmo

If my memory serves me right after 16 months it was a big deal(news worthy) about LE asking Misty to retrieve HaLeighs school clothes and that is when she discovered the shirt in the pile of dirty clothes in the guardroom floor. If AS did stop by and witnessed Misty change the children’s shirt I would have to think AS would not forget the shirt that she washed and witnessed being put on HaLeigh that night. No, I do not think Misty changed her shirt again; she did not even claim to of given the children a bath that night before bed.

Hi Jaba, don’t know who all had keys, but Ron did say you didn’t need a key to the back door because the lock could be “jimmied”? I can’t remember the wording he used, but it would be interesting to know who had keys, if the lock was compromised (jimmied)it might have awaken Haleigh, but if someone had a key, maybe it would not make so much noise and they entered the MH, you would think only Misty and Ron had keys, but with that bunch, it probably would not be too hard for someone to steal a key to copy it, maybe they had an extra set hanging on a key hook or hidden outside somewhere and someone who had been in the trailer previously took note of this and took it……so many possibilities, only one truth….

What ever happened that night Misty left on her wild weekend, it must have been real bad because she gave him the key back. That means she either gave it to him or he asked for it back. Usually this means they were ending their relationship. Then she sleeps with Greg Page. To me it sounds like Misty ended it and is looking for a rebound affair, she didnt just wait around for Ron to make up. jmo

It is recommended that AMBER plans require confirmation by law enforcement of an

This component is essential when determining the level of risk to the child. Clearly,
stranger abductions are the most dangerous for children and thus are primary to the
mission of an AMBER Alert. To allow activations in the absence of significant
information that an abduction has occurred could lead to abuse of the system and
ultimately weaken its effectiveness. At the same time, each case must be appraised on its
own merits and a judgment call made quickly. Law enforcement must understand that a
“best judgment” approach, based on the evidence, is appropriate and necessary.
1.) Risk of serious bodily injury or death
It is recommended that plans require a child be at risk for serious bodily harm or death
before an alert can be issued.
This element is clearly related to law enforcement’s recognition that stranger abductions
represent the greatest danger to children. The need for timely, accurate information
based on strict and clearly understood criteria is critical, again keeping in mind the “best
judgment” approach.

2.) Sufficient descriptive information
It is recommended that in order for an AMBER Alert to be effective in recovering a
missing child, the law enforcement agency have enough information to believe that an
immediate broadcast to the public will enhance the efforts of law enforcement to locate
the child and apprehend the suspect.
This element requires as much descriptive information as possible about the abducted
child and the abduction, as well as descriptive information about the suspect and the
suspect’s vehicle. Issuing alerts in the absence of significant information that an
abduction has occurred could lead to abuse of the system and ultimately weaken its
effectiveness.
3.) Age of child
It is recommended that every state adopt the “17 years of age or younger” standard; or, at
a minimum, agree to honor the request of any other state to issue an AMBER Alert, even
if the case does not meet the responding state’s age criterion, as long as it meets the age
criterion of the requesting state.
Most AMBER plans call for activation of the alert for children under a certain age. The
problem is that age can vary—some plans specify 10, some 12, some 14, 15, and 16.
Differences in age requirements create confusion when an activation requires multiple
alerts across states and jurisdictions. Overuse of the AMBER Alert system will
undermine its effectiveness as a tool for recovering abducted children.
4.) NCIC data entry
It is recommended that immediate entry of AMBER Alert data into the National Crime
Information Center (NCIC) system be a plan requirement.
Text information describing the circumstances surrounding the abduction of the child
should be entered, and the case flagged as a Child Abduction. Many plans do not
mandate entry of the data into NCIC, but this omission undermines the entire mission of
the AMBER Alert initiative. The notation on the entry should be sufficient to explain the
circumstances of the disappearance of the child. Entry of the alert data into NCIC
expands the search for an abducted child from the local, state, or regional level to the
national. This is a critical element of any effective AMBER Alert plan.
Summary of Department of Justice Recommended Criteria:
! There is reasonable belief by law enforcement that an abduction has
occurred.
! The law enforcement agency believes that the child is in imminent danger of
serious bodily injury or death.
! There is enough descriptive information about the victim and the abduction
for law enforcement to issue an AMBER Alert to assist in the recovery of the
child.
! The abduction is of a child aged 17 years or younger.
! The Child’s name and other critical data elements, including the Child
Abduction flag, have been entered into the National Crime Information
Center (NCIC) system.

Why in the world would any body not tell if they knew? Unless they did it!!!!

I do not believe it has ever been stated by Misty that Ron threw her out. Misty very well could have left on her own for reason or reasons that will become apparent when Sunshine kicks in, and very well could be nothing like what Nay Nay conveyed to AH.

One case comes to mind where a drug debt got paid with one child, Shaniya Davis. It does happen, drug dealers do things like this and alot more. Didn’t all these calls take place over cell phones? What about the employee at PDM that said that RC got a heated call from Misty at 8:30 pm and stepped outside to talk? Misty has told her dad, “she tried and tried to call RC and where was he? he didn’t answer, but all of a sudden he is at the door.” Chelsea said that Misty called her to tell her Haleigh was missing and she must have had a cell. Her and Timmy didn’t even live in Satsuma did they? Misty definitely says “she went back to get her phone.” I think all of them had cells and no land lines.

I do get the feeling though that Misty has resigned herself to the fact that she very well could spend a very long time in prison, and I do hope that whatever happens she does use the time to do something with her life. Get an education, some job skills, learn her self-worth, and gain some self-respect.

I am saddened by the fact that the Croslins/Cummings have become the story, instead of Haleigh. I am saddened by the fact that LE (FDLE) had to set up a drug sting to try to get answers on Haleigh. I am saddened by the fact the Sheffields have been left to live without the scrutiny their suspicious behaviors warrant. I am saddened by the fact the Sheffields conspiracy of silence on Haleigh has left me doubting their innocence. I am saddened by the fact that Haleigh has not been seen in 16 months, nor remains been found, to warrant calling this a homocide. I am saddened by the fact that no one has been charged nor persons of interests been named by LE in the Haleigh investigation. I am saddened by the fact that no one cared enough about Haleigh (all families) to be forthcoming with information, be it legal or illegal. I am saddened by the fact that there are other innocent children in these families that deserve some level of protection from the media that has exposed every dirty little secret. I am saddened by the fact that we may never know what happened to Haleigh and who is responsible. I really think it all boils down to the drugs and dealing with the drugs. If Ron didn’t do something to Haleigh then what else would Ron have on Tommy other than he drugs. Especially to strike up a plea deal on. Not difficult to believe that Tommy knows who the major drug players are. Maybe Tommy and Misty keep shouting from the rooftops that there imprisonment is all about Haleigh, because it’s anything but ALL about Haleigh. Maybe it’s also about ratting out the top drug dogs, and this is they are really scared.

I don’t think LE found the report credible though since Ron and Misty weren’t charged. I think, if I remember correctly, the witness identified Ron’s truck but it was said that the truck was not working at the time of the rat incident.

Didn’t Ron claim to have done it to see what Misty looked like while she lied, am I remembering things right. I agree it is hard to remeber half the chit that has been said and done over these 16 months.

i’m thinking most likely people sent those bibles to her…when someone is in jail, the only way they can receive books and magazines is if they are ordered by someone on the outside from an actual bookseller (amazon, barnes & noble, etc) and mailed from the bookseller to the jail.

(in lurigancho, there are only 100 -unarmed- guards for 10,000 people. aids and tuberculosis are consider at “epidemic” proportions. prisons are easily able to get contraband and guns and other weapons inside. the day the new warden started at lurigancho, he was killed.

it is being said that joran may not even make it to his trial date…

Well,they knew better,not on TG day……they sat up on a mtn facing his house and watched all day and come night,they came to the door,he let em in and wrapped a phone cord around his neck and he lived,he was in his 80′s i believe and his daughter went to school with my husband but she just came home that day from college for TG,They stabbed her 32 times,raped her repeatedly,one of the guys took her watch,a rolex and gave it to his gf,there were tons of lawyers,officials who ended up with the new cars and everything these men who’d killed her had bought….big corruption thing in ky,only murder i ever heard of there……..but come to find out,the Dr. had his safe on the back porch?? He reported 3 million dollars was stolen tho everyone has always known it had to be alot more,he didn’t report it to IRS!so he couldn’t tell the truth about the money!

Court records and interviews with those in both camps show a history of resentments and mistrust.

As the search gathered momentum early in the case, Sheffield’s mother said investigators needed to focus on Cummings.

“Someone over there who lived in that house knows what happened to Haleigh,” Marie Griffis said.

Cummings’ family believes Sheffield’s objective is to gain custody of Ronald Jr. Sheffield and Cummings were never married and have been estranged since 2005.

“Of course they are going to try to take Junior from him,” said Cummings’ grandmother, Annette Sykes.

Cummings and Sheffield were together from the time she was 14 until she was 19. In a court action, Cummings was given custody of the couple’s two children in 2005 because he had a job and could better support the children, a magistrate ruled. Visitation with their mother was not restricted.

Sheffield missed taking her daughter to a dozen doctor’s appointments over a year, according to the court documents. Haleigh has a condition that requires routine checkups.

Sheffield and her father, Johnny Sheffield, said in court papers that Cummings was an abuser who used and sold illegal drugs and threatened to kill people who offended him. Her father also said Cummings left the children with family members who used drugs.

In response, Cummings and his family point to the court decision to award him custody of the two children. She has also admitted to using drugs and has a spotty employment history. Members of Cummings’ family said Sheffield is behind in child support payments.

In 2001, Cummings was arrested on a misdemeanor assault charge that was later dropped. He was arrested on drug charges in Putnam County in 2002 and 2004 when drugs, including cocaine, pills and marijuana, were found. In 2005, he was arrested by the Highway Patrol on morphine possession and other drug charges.

Charges in the drug cases were dropped or adjudication was withheld, according to court records. In the 2004 case, Cummings was fined $370 in court costs.

Cummings only takes prescription drugs for accidental injuries, his attorney, Greg Kimball, said in a statement Monday.

Which begs the question why? Either Tommy wasn’t saying it was JO, or LE isn’t doing their job. If I were JO and I had no reason to be guilty I would take the LD just to clear my name, but just like Misty he may have a reason in which he knows he will fail.

Maybe they are not looking at JO because Tommy’s story makes absolutely no sense, and after talking with JO on several occasions, LE KNOWS Tommy’s story makes no sense.

OP: There was a non-emergency call to LE regarding a disturbance at around 2am, if memory serves me right. Some here say it was a barking dog complaint, not sure about that. Lindsey was cited for a barking dog later that day or the next day. Common occurance for them from what records show.

The physical evidence could have been the letter from Misty to Chelsea, stating the dock. I think that now, Misty has recanted and told her tape, on a jail tape, that it was a dream or that people had put stories in her head. Go figure. Another lie as I see it.
Tommy is stating, in a jail tape, that it was all BS by LE. They were trying to get him to talk.
As I said, go figure! Who knows where the truth lies…………

The fact that m2c, TxMom, ME, and OJ have conflicting opinions of some others they are labeled the bullies?? I don’t get it.
When someone new comes on here, if they are not instantly Ron haters they are badgered. This blows my mind. Simon and Jan offer this blog to ALL posters, no matter their opinion of WHO took Haleigh. They themselves have differing opinions of WHO, yet they are kind and compassionate to all. Please, let’s ALL look in the mirror and try to practice the golden rule: Do unto others as we would have them do unto us.
In the past 12-24 hours I have seen TxMom apologize all over herself repeatedly for anything she has done to offend. I have seen a kind and humble heart from her. Have you or any of the others that lashed out at her acknowledged her apology, offered one of your own, or returned the act of kindness. Like I said I tried to stay out of this one. However, your first post of the day, betraying yourself as the victim that “is out of here” the first time “they” show up pushed me over the edge.

tobias I defiantly agree sometimes it is best to stay out of a disagreement, but, when the forum becomes open season on fellow and new blogger it is a commendable and respnsible decision IMO to try and help stop the friction and attacks, it is not interference. Those judges are as through as they can be. I feel like they hit the bullseye with his custody suit. I am sure Ronald and Crystal had the same which would have included home visits. Everything is in the best interest of the child. My grand daughter has such an attachment to her Mom I really feel she would have had abandonment issues if they had place her in my son’s home in VA. It was soooo hard for me to say that especially since I was footing the attorney’s bill. Bad boyfriends do

Mom knows that.

Enough about me lets hope the same was done for these children when the grandparents were

Whylie, I agree! It is an injustice to Haleigh. Believing liars they changed this case from a missing child case to a murder case with NO evidence. In doing this they removed the amber alerts, took down many of the local signs, and have it firmly planted in many peoples minds that she is gone. So they have greatly reduced the number of people that are looking for her.

tobias: I agree with your point. It’s not as though LE needs any more help looking bad in this case…….Damned if they do, damned if they don’t…….IMO

I really believe LE has some proof she is gone – I can’t imagine they would take down the Amber alert without proof. They are just choosing not to share it with us. I pray I am wrong.

Treece – Oh, okay. I wasn’t sure what you were saying at first. Got it. I watched 24′s last season and I’m not sure I’m for or against water boarding. It seems that torture is for the greater good, but it just doesn’t seem that the end justifies the means. I don’t like laws that protect the guilty and do nothing for the innocent though either. I kinda stay on the fence when it comes to that issue. You seem to be a very decisive person.

LE could also have changed the status because they know that HaLeigh Cummings is ALIVE and they want to smoke out the perpetrators of the lie that she is not… I am not saying that I believe this, just throwing out a possibility. There would be no real harm in cancelling the Amber alert and searches in this case; in face, valuable resources would be conserved.

Whether or not Ron’s work records are released would be up to PDM Bridge and they wouldn’t do it for legitimate privacy reasons, imho.

They found bloody sheet or whatever along with items “indicating HaLeigh,” such as her toys and inhaler. But the police weren’t called, just Cobra. Very suspect, imho.

Alex – LE has turned Joran over to the prosecutors who will now bring formal charges against him. LE held him while they were investigating/interrogating. Now that the evidence is collected he goes into the prosecutor’s custody to be charged. They then decide which prison he will be held in until trial. They do not have jury trials in Peru. His fate will be decided by a judge and some prisoners wait years for a verdict (in Peru).

Shockwave, we only have Judy Lucia’s account of it, or blstarke as she posts on here. She was the only person outside of the Sheffield/Griffis families and associates who were in attendance. Oh, and Cobra, too. It was held on March 22, 2009, on the grounds of a church in San Mateo. Items were found including car keys, children’s toys, an inhaler, a man’s suitcase, a man’s pair of socks and a bus schedule. Oh, Kim Picazio, on this forum, posted about the search as well. She wasn’t there but she believes it occurred.

Cricket, ITA, why would they want us to believe that she is dead? Taken far away, I guess, is more what they were aiming for?

Jaba, Cobra was on the Sunday afternoon show regularly for a while, then not heard from for a while, then on the show again a few months ago. My guess is that there are certain things he can’t/won’t talk about.

Cate just speculation, but I agree they had motive. They both hated Ron and Misty. You can look up Lisa’s warrant on the PSCO website. There was a lot of talk going on way back when KP was posting on the forums. People getting out of dodge after Haleigh went missing is a big red flag to me and I feel they should be checked out just to be sure. Remember what LE said, No stone left unturned. I think there have been a lot of stones left unturned in this investigation, the Brook’s being one of them.

Cate, I definitely agree that all tips need to be checked out even if it means draining ponds and searching the river. What ever needs to be searched should be searched, but to reclassify the case from Missing to Homicide, imo, should a bit more evidence then the say so of dopers.

WhyLie, Although some smart person, can’t remember who, unfortunately, pointed out that they don’t have to be sure that it is a homicide to reclassify it as such. There are more money and resources available for homicide investigations, apparently, and the reclassification gives them access to those funds, iirc. (Sad to think that there is more money available to look for murderers than for live children, isn’t it?)

COOP, that’s a really good point, why didn’t PDM Bridge do something supportive for Ronald Cummings as most employers would, especially large, corporate types. It is a bit of a good PR opportunity. Instead, ostensibly, they ignored him and he ignored them, to the point that they had to declare him terminated. An employee in good or at least decent, standing would have been extended some sympathy and support.

they did not cover him on this. They may have taken a hands off approach with all the drugs involved. If they allowed Ron back to work and another employee got hurt and he popped the
drug test. Guess who is getting sued.

COOP – My first suspicisons and theory was that Ron was somehow involved. My theories have taken a lot of twists and turns. I’ve looked at the Crystal abduction theory, the RSO abduction angle, the Joe theory, the drug thug theory and on and on.

To me Ron’s behaviors are EXTREMELY peculiar and cause me to be very suspicious of him. My present theory still has Ron involved. But until we know what LE knows, it will be truly impossible to know how off base we are or how close we are to the truth.

I don’t see how anyone can go by those dispatch tapes because there is no times on the transmissions and it’s been redacted. I would like to see the unredacted version and why did they removed the times..

No confusion on the dog barking incident, it happened on the 4th, that is when the call came in and on the 10th at 11 AM Tommy was given the ticket or charge,whatever you want to call it. I posted the police report here several times.

Well, if Ron went to work all pumped up on that bad boy attitude of his he probably wasn’t in good standing where he worked. I’m sure his boss has been investigated. I’ve also looked into PDM bridges, and I promise you a high-rolling company like them doesn’t want to be associated with a possible murder case.
