I don't understand your posting about the Manhattan Pain Center. Are you praising it or panning it? I can tell you that my experience with this Center has been horrendous. The office is a bunch of incompetents so much that I was dragged through hell for 3 months dealing with insurance problems. They lied to me numerous times, as I double checked everything they said with the insurance company. Avoid this Center if you can, as these people are rude and deceitful, and I don't even know why.

I'm glad you are getting good pain relief.

Try being a rural doc with the pain center 59 miles away, and trying to adjust the medicine yourself because "contract health services" consider pain care to be a class II or three, and we had more urgent cases to use our limited budget on.

As for profit: Don't ask me. I went broke treating the uninsured in private practice, which is why I went into government work.

My wife had the best of treatment at Mount Sinai Hospital and lived a happy, active life during her 9 year battle.

Hi Ed, Thanks for the article about your experience with your health care.
Wanted to tell you about health care in Ontario,Canada.
Tommy Douglas little known but one of the greatest Canadians in history. Developed a health care system that was one of the greatest in the world. Free health care for alll Canadians rich or poor. Now with medicine for profit many doctors goe to states for more money. The government , all parties have ruined or health care. I recentlly battled breast cancer and experienced life threatening side-effects from chemo. I was placed in a storage room. We wait a full day in emergency before recieving care. We literally are dying in the hall ways while beds sit empty + unstaffed. Tommy would be rolling in his grave.
