Maybe your religious beliefs allow you to be tolerant of such a blasphemy and maybe you prefer movies, restaurants, businesses, universities, non-profit organizations and advertisements over the respect of our Prophet (P.B.U.H) but that’s totally up to you.

P.S I didn’t say Facebook is destructive but its content is offensive to my faith. Also, i said i haven’t seen anyone using it for constructive purpose.

Just for the record, i had an account on Facebook for a long time until about last year and i was a pretty regular user of Facebook too but i deactivated my account last year in protest of a group which abuses Islam and Facebook administration does not take any action against it even after millions of people reported it.

There are also security reasons for not using Facebook. If you search google for it you will see how insecure it is. I experianced it myself, after a few months of deactivating my account it got activated itself and there was content in it. Also, i have a mail which says with proofs that Israeli and other agencies use Facebook for recruiting spies and gathering information about people. It’s up to you to believe it or not.

Nothing constructive? That’s your opinion. There were a number of Pakistani movies, restaurants, businesses, universities and non-profit organizations on facebook, not to mention all the advertisements. I highly doubt that they weren’t constructive.

To all the supporters of “Freedom of speech” who are wondering why the heck is Facebook banned, well in this World of “Freedom of speech” there is also something called protest. When someone is hurt with others “Freedom of speech” they tend to protest. With all due respect i would like to ask if someone abuses any of our family members (father, mother, us) would we still consider that “Freedom of speech” or not? Facebook is very popular for Two reasons:

1) Worst Privacy Abuse of users
2) Biased policies which is against “Equality” (One hand Holocaust discussion is not allowed and on other hand hurting feelings of Muslims is facilitated)

As all of us know that Facebook held a competition of caricatures of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).This event is basically a so-called contest for Prophet Mohammad’s drawings (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa-aal-hi-Wasallam).

Thousands of complaints were made against this virtual event but FaceBook administration did not deleted/ banned this page, unlike they usually do even for very minor violation of Facebook Terms of Services. Why they are not banning because of the hate propaganda and the fake slogans of freedom of expression that is being exposed as years are passing by ….but they don/t have any idea how much love and respect Muslims have for our beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) these silly attempts are only uniting us Muslims as one Ummah/Millat and is forcing us to reflect seriously on the subject on how to defend us against these attacks and we have decided to hit the Islam-haters where it hurts the most.

They are generating 47%-50% of their revenue from Muslim and around 10%-12% alone from Pakistan.

Of course, it’s a good step of ban youtube and facebook.. no one is going to die without facebook.. facebook authorities, despite the fact that they know every thing about anti-Islam groups, are not willing to remove them.. Pakistani muslims contribute to their income to a great extent, and if it gets banned in Pakistan, it will be a shock for their financial affairs, and of course, they’ll take this matter seriously..

@Ameeratron: You sure would agree that their is a limit to the “live & let live ideology” too.Would anyone tolerate being called names on his face or to his parents and let it go saying we should “let live”.If that becomes the case then this world will be a jungle with no morals and values.Also it doesn’t matter who all activate or do not deactivate FB after the ban,atleast for now or until they remove that content,we should say united.They don’t remove that content and we as users are so addicted that we don’t care??too bad.

@Mahnoor: Do u think we should loose our faith for entertainment?I agree with you that there are very few things for us in Pakistan for entertainment, but we also need to understand that they are playing on our psyche exactly for the same reason,because they know we are so addicted to their evils.We must not show any weakness to them in any form of addiction.

If they so care for their users,why haven’t they still removed that page.If they can’t respect their users feelings,why the hell should we give them pleasure with our addiction.

@Mustupha: I read the link posted by you & I think everyone on this community should read it to see the real face of FB.If its “Freedom of thoughts and speech” then why is there prompt action on something like “Hitler” and not our Prophet(S.A.W.W).

Face book, you tube and many other sites are blocked by PTA. It proves that few fundamentalist including people from institutions can hijack 15 crore people. Simply it is a jungle law. We respect and love our prophet but how come we are the most undeveloped nation on earth. Most corrupt nation No food no education no healthcare no higher education no utilities . FREEDOM OF SPEECH…..!
HuH..! where was this freedom of rights and speech when in france they banned scarf for muslim women and also imposed penalty on wearing veil… Where was this Freedom when building minarate Mosques was banned in Sweden by there parliment…. Where is this Freedom For black Race and discrimination they still have to face in many fields just becoz of there colour and creed. Not the last but the least question arises where is freedom of speech when thousand of prisoners many innocent in Gutonamo Bay prison (Cuba) are given very strick punishment and very unthinkable without any court trials…..! ALL this freedom of speech vanished ONLY on one word that IS “Matter of National security” LOL….! which is BULLshit and freedom of speech is bullshit..! When western world say freedom of speech,They are being HYpocrites nothing more…!

@Mustapha: I cud not think of a better word than pangaa because this really is something totally not needed.There is no reason to hold such a competition or a contest.This sure was a pangaa as they bloody well know what it would make the muslims feel.

Partly I also blame the muslims for the image that has been portrayed in this world especially again by the recent “Time square incident”.People now think they are justified in whatever they say or think about muslims.

Whatever the case maybe,we must put our foot down on issues likes these and stand by our faith at all cost.Giving up FB addiction is the least that we can contribute to pay gratitude to our religion & our beloved Prophet(P.B.U.H)

Freedom of speech in no way means freedom to attack the feelings of people following any religion.Our Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.W) always preached about respecting everyone’s religion and feelings.This act happening on FB can never be justified by covering it under the category of freedom of speech.

As for the FB addicts,I can claim to be the biggest addict of FB as I spend maximum time of my day and night on it,but when it comes to an issue like this,we must all refrain from using it like we refrain from so many things we love,during the month of Ramadan.Our should should be strong enough to fight for a cause & we should not give ourselves in to an addiction like social networking,which I agree was very entertaining but not something that we just can’t live without.

Atleast the people responsible for it should know we do not surrender our faiths to addictions like FB, and sacrifices like this will make them think twice before taking an “Unnecessary pangaa” with the muslims.

If not for anything else,I’m glad that this addiction could be helped with this step.It isn’t a good thing to be wasting time on something which is not worth wasting so much time on.It was becoming more of a platform for “show off” or to “spite” others.

Other than that,everyone has a right to have his/her own opinions and we should not try and convince anyone on this forum forcefully.Faith is with-in our hearts & cannot/should not be imposed on others.

nothing is banned ! and they can never ban all the sites , both facebook and youtube is just working fine you just have to know which softwares are able to bypass them , and there are many which cab bypass all ip and url based bans !

in case of permenant ban i know a lot of people who can still acess them ! than whats the point in placing the ban in the first point !
