TV Guide calls this 4 DVD set “an entertaining collision of bare-knuckled police-procedural realism and mind-blowing surrealism.” Life on Mars Series 2 is an International Emmy and reg-winning series that was seen on BBC America.

In this series we find detective Sam Tyler, played by John Simm, in a position facing, same place, same job nut different time and different rules.

Tyler is in the 21st century Manchester when he is struck by a hit and run driver where he was left unconscious. When he wakes up he finds himself in the year 1973 making him wonder if he is dreaming, or going through time traveling or just plain out and out crazy.

He figures whatever is going on he might as well have landed on another planet.

When Tyler goes to work he is quite shocked by the way his boss (played by Philip Glenister) is bullying around and of the uncaring and insensitive ways of his squad mates. He doesn’t let this stop him as he gamely adapts to crime solving in the retro world he finds himself in.

As his romance blossoms with police woman Annie (played by Liz White) Sam starts hearing mysterious voices from his life in the 21st Century that keeps calling him to come home. He starts to feel trapped in the past and he must decide where his future lies and how to get there.
