For the first time in 35 years the National Basketball Association changed the game balls that will be used in all professional basketball contests. In a press release the NBA reports, “The new model is a micro-fiber composite with moisture management that provides a superior grip and feel throughout the course of the game.” Shaquille O’neal (Miami Heat’s center) and many other NBA stars couldn’t disagree more. O’neal stated, “Feels like one of those cheap, indoor/outdoor balls that you buy at the toy store.” He said fans should expect to see shooting percentages fall, due to the change of balls. He also reported Monday, “The NBA’s been around how long? 100 years? 50 years? So to change it now, whoever that person is, needs his college degree revoked.”
