Due to a prior engagement Sundays program had to be shortened to one hour, but in that hour we managed to squeeze in a lot if updates on on the cases that we have been following.
There has been a significant event in the Somer Thompson case. Jarred Mitchell Harrell has been charged with the murder of 7-year-old Somer Thompson.
Harrell has been in custody since Feb. 11, 2010 when authorities arrested him in Meridian, Mississippi on child pornography charges originating in Florida. Harrell was then extradited to Florida. Harrell pleaded not guilty to 55 counts of possessing child pornography, making child pornography and molestation Wednesday morning, March 10, 2010 in Clay County, Florida.
To finally charge Harrell with Somer’s murder investigators have relied on DNA evidence, witness statements, and some sort of admission by Harrell.
In the Mark Bookal case, missing since last December there has been a sad development. The body of a young boy found. Authorities are saying that it could take up to a month for a positive id. However they do seem fairly certain that it is Mark Bookal as no other children in the area are missing.
The Caylee Anthony case was also back in the news this week, with allegations that George Anthony had an affair with one of the women who helped search for Caylee Anthony.
River Cruz, whose real name is Krystal Holloway, has sold her story to the National Enquirer claiming that she and George Anthony were involved in an affair during the time that volunteers nationwide were searching for his granddaughter.
It was also reported that Ms. Cruz attempted suicide last Thursday by taking an overdose of pills
By far the most interesting news last week was the release of almost 1000 pages of evidence, much of which was in the form of interview transcripts. While there was nothing that could be called a ‘smoking gun’ they certainly filled in a lot of gaps, and you can start to get an insight into the directions that Law Enforcement took in coming to their conclusions. I do plan on examining these transcripts in greater depth on another artice, stay tuned.
Here is one little gem for you to consider, Cindy Anthony has repeatedly said that she did not know how to get in touch Zanny the nanny – well on July 16/2009 she claimed to have given the number to the cops!
The Haleigh Cummings case continues to lumber laboriously on it way. A couple of news sources reported that Misty has supposedly has failed yet another polygraph, this is her fourth or fifth, my question is why would anyone suspect that this one be any different?
Tommy Croslin apparently wants to do a poly, but his lawyer claimed on national TV earlier this week that he wanted a neutral examiner rather than someone connected with the prosecution.
The other big event last week is the William Cobra Staubs has resolved his problem with the authorities in Putnam County. After several weeks of negotiations a plea deal was signed on Wednesday. Needless to say Cobra is a very happy man as this opens the door to him continuing on with his career. Cobra’s joy may not be shared by some other though. From comments that he has made both on and off the record it is clear that while this chapter may be at a close, the book is hardly finished.

I predict if Tommy takes a LDT he will fail. I have reason to believe Tommy is involved in Haleigh’s disappearance, and he is ready to talk. But I previously hadn’t quite figured out what it will take to get him talking. Now that it has come up that this is what he wants again (I think back in August he told a news crew he would take a LDT), I think a failed polygraph could be the trigger to do just that.
If Tommy talks, it would be better if he didn’t take a polygraph test since that can easily mislead. Good, tough, thorough follow-up questions are better than any poly.

Isn’t it something? In the space of about one week, three mysteries have been solved, although tragically. The bodies of Marc Anthony Bookal and Aja Johnson were found (although yet to be positively identified). And Somer Thompson’s killer admitted to the heinous crime.
Now if only some information would come to light about little Haleigh!

In all of these cases it was pure luck or gods will. In Somers case if the monster had not been told on by his room mates he would not have been under LEs watchful eye.
In Marks case I believe he was left there temporarily and by locking up the killer he never got the chance to move the body.
In Ajas case I cant believe it took so long to find the car. I lived in Lawton and with Fort Sill close by why wasnt the car spotted by the many Army helocopters that fly over the area on manuevers? Just so sad. But I believe alot of these cases are solved by a guiding hand and LEs hard work. jmo
Tobias….I sure wish God would guide LE’s hand in the Haleigh case. This baby needs to come home one way or another. SOMEONE knows something that will help LE. If ONLY they would stop worrying about their own backsides and think about this little angel, for a change!
Unless it is a family kidnapping and they have her in hiding with a good family! Then she is safe and loved healthy. Big trauma, big adjustment, but good in the long run. It is a longshot, I know, but I don’t want to get sad about her until I have to. One hard thing with Haleigh, though, is her medical condition. She does need to see a doctor regularly and that piece seems especially hard to pull off.
I totally agree someone knows something and if they hadnt held back even a remote possible bit of info it would have been solved by now.

Yes, the odds for Haleigh are very bad. But I’m not going to cry until I have to. It’s just plain smarter emotionally. If I were family or close friend, I would be preparing for bad news. But since I’m not I can afford to put it off.
I had a prediction of finding Haleigh by Easter, I just had this wierd feeling it would be then. I am losing hope for it now, but I feel it will eventually come out. jmo

I think he took her for a possible shield if LE caught him and he also reportedly hated her so he more than likely blamed her for everything wrong, the guy was an alcoholic and physically beat women. He didnt want to go back to prison possibly because he knew he couldnt get alcohol and would have to dry out.

“Comanche County prosecutors charged Lester Hobbs, 46, with first-degree murder in the beating death of his estranged wife Tonya Hobbs, whose body was found Sunday in her camper. They also charged Hobbs with kidnapping of Aja Johnson, who is not his biological child.
Aja’s abduction is believed to have occurred sometime before 9 p.m. Sunday, when her mother’s body was found by authorities at the Comanche County Sheriff’s Office.
Tonya Hobbs’ murder comes just five months after she filed for a protective order against her estranged husband who she said threatened to kill her if she ever left him. While an Oklahoma court initially granted the request, the case was later dismissed because neither Tonya Hobbs or Lester Hobbs showed up in court.
Authorities and Aja’s family are worried the young girl could be in danger because of Hobbs’ violence history.
According to public records, Hobbs has been in and out of prison for various charges, ranging from a conviction for burglary in 1983 to driving under the influence. Most recently Hobbs servied a 20-month prison sentence in 2005 for assault and battery with a deadly weapon.
Aja and her mother were visiting Hobbs at his sister’s home prior to the murder and disappearance, according to authorities. Also traveling with Aja and her mother was Aja’s older sister, who is not missing.”

The rest of the story is that it’s inexplicable why the mother went there. If Aja’s bio-father had known he would not have allowed it. Tonya should not have been anywhere near him and certainly not with Aja.

Divers search St. Johns–Deputies seek evidence for Volusia County investigation

Sheriff’s divers spent Monday searching the St. Johns River for murder evidence.
The search near the Memorial Bridge in Palatka has nothing to do with the disappearance of Haleigh Cummings, the young Satsuma girl missing since Feb. 10, 2009, authorities said.
Early Monday, specially trained divers from three counties began checking the river bottom just north of the landmark bridge.
Their work could continue through Wednesday.
The search is for possible evidence in connection with a two-year-old slaying in Volusia County, a State Attorney’s Office official said.
I can confirm we are involved,Chris Kelly, a spokesman for the prosecutor’s office, said. Beyond that, it relates to an ongoing investigation out of Volusia County. That is about all I can say at this point.
Kelly declined to say what divers were looking for and which slaying case triggered Monday’s search.
They’ve asked me not to relay which case it’s on, he said.
Once they conclude their search I may be able to give more information, but until then that’s about all I can say.
The search was performed by deputies from Putnam, Flagler and St. Johns counties.
One boat equipped with flashing blue strobe lights patrolled the area around the search zone. Another boat upstream boat kept a line attached to two divers below the surface, its brightly colored diving flag flapping in the wind.
A third boat was used to ferry supplies and searchers from the shore.
The river is 15 to 20 feet deep in the search area and the water temperature was in the low 60s.
Divers had to battle the river’s current and nearly zero visibility under water.
About lunchtime Monday, personnel from the Palatka Fire Department went to the command post on the East Palatka side of the river to refill air tanks for the searchers.
The search drew a few curious people to the park area, where several law-enforcement vehicles were parked.
Does this have anything to do with that missing girl? one man asked a deputy.
Since Haleigh Cummings was reported missing, several large-scale searches have been conducted across Putnam County, and areas of the St. Johns River have been checked.
Late last year, responding to a tip in the Haleigh case, authorities used large pumps to partially drain a pond in the Mondex southwest of Palatka so divers could better examine the site.
No evidence from the case was found.

tobias–I never quite understood why Mr. Byrd was not investigated (and if he was, what was the results) in Marc`s burning incident. If properly investigated and evidence led to the bf then Marc might still be alive today. I think if you harmed a child once, you should not get a SECOND chance to do it again!

If it wasn`t a search for Haleigh (which is stated in the article), then why won`t they say what case they are talking about? All LE agencies in the Haleigh case are involved, so it seems suspicious they are withholding what and who they may be looking for.

The Volusia Sherrif’s office has a site which discusses their unsolved murders….most recent date referred to is 2005. I strongly feel this has to do with Haleigh. Hopefully it’s just another bad tip/lead and she is still alive out there.

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — Dive teams from four different sheriff’s offices were in the St. Johns River on Monday afternoon searching for a murder weapon near the Volusia-Putnam county line.
Investigators say the search is linked to an unsolved murder case from Volusia County that’s two to three years old. And, though WFTV asked the State Attorney’s Office multiple times to give details on what cold case it’s working on, officials refused to say a word.
Divers told WFTV they had zero visibility in the dark water, saying it’s like swimming in cold coffee. They ended Monday’s search after around eight hours.
Eighteen deputy divers searched the murky the bottom of the St. Johns River. They began at 8:00am and concentrated on a section of river right under Memorial Bridge in Palatka. The divers said they were feeling the bottom with their hands for a gun that was involved in an unsolved homicide within Volusia County limits two to three years ago.
The State Attorney’s Office got a tip the weapon was thrown over the side of US-17 and requested Putnam, St. Johns, Clay and Flagler sheriff’s offices for the help. Deputies worked in the black water for hours and found nothing.
The search will continue until Wednesday.
I did a little digging into the search and could not find anything recent that I would tie the search too.

How far is Volusia County away? There don’t seem to be any recent (last couple of years) unsolved murders there, but LE says it’s in relation to an unsolved one??? And why aren’t Volusia county LE participating in the search??
The river looks huge….I’m thinking they’re not searching for a body if they are searching in the vicinity of the bridge…it sounds like they’re searching for something that they expected to have sunk.
TM39…I agree re the gun. I really highly doubt anyone shot her. They could be lying about what they are looking for, but it does sound like they’re looking for something that would have sunk rather than drifted away.

They are looking for a gun in black, murky, zero visibilty water? If so, they are taking several risks for a gun that may or may not be there, as well as money used for this search. I guess tomorrow it will be known if this is indeed a search for Haleigh, or maybe not, if they find nothing.

Karen Boehm, 45, of Port Orange was shot to death with a .45-caliber bullet while riding her bicycle at 12:30 a.m. July 22, 2007, near the south side of the Towers Grande condominiums in the 2000 block of South Atlantic Avenue. Police found her on the ground astride the bicycle and believe she probably knew her assailant.
Detectives from the Daytona Beach Shores Department of Public Safety and the State Attorney’s homicide investigation unit developed information that led them to Putnam County in search for evidence in the murder of Boehm, Sgt. Michael Fowler said in a written statement. Investigators won’t say what they are hoping to find.

Deputies Not Releasing What They’re Seeking In St. Johns River

DAYTONA BEACH SHORES, Fla. — Deputies from four Central Florida counties are participating in an underwater effort in an attempt to recover evidence from a 2007 Daytona Beach Shores homicide.
Investigators from the Daytona Beach Shores Department of Public Safety and the State Attorney’s Homicide Investigation Unit recently developed information that the led them to Putnam County in the search for evidence in the slaying of Karen Boehm, who was killed on July 22, 2007.
Investigators believe that key evidence may be in the St. Johns River between Palatka and East Palatka.
Dive teams from the Putnam, Flagler, St. Johns and Clay county sheriff’s offices are in the midst of a three-day dive mission to recover items from the river. Investigators are not releasing what items they are seeking.
“We believe that the new information in this case is credible and are optimistic that the leads we are following will assist us in finding Karen Boehm’s killer,” said Detective Karen Howard of the Daytona Beach Shores Department of Public Safety.

THey do however have a dog searcher over there that had just been talking about searching the Norman remains site area just days ago…she was hurt in a fall and had not been able to resume the search.
Ex-neighbors & friends of Hobbs now say they told LE to look there early on. LE response is that they searched that area early on but found no reason to believe that he was in the area.

Tobias, there are probably a lot of metal things on the bottom so a search by hand is the best way and maybe the only way to find a gun.
And they got a tip – it was related to the other case of the woman who was shot. The fact that the area is Palatka is the only tie-in to Haleigh. And I’m sure the divers have been told to report any bones or clues that could be related to that, too.
I really don’t think even LE would bother with such a huge “cover story” if all they were looking for was Haleigh.

My issue with the “searches” is if they were indeed being done then they were knowingly and willingy going against what LE had advised. The reason for LE to release that advisement publically was to let EVERYONE know that they did NOT want ANYONE to potentially upset or contaminate a possible crime scene.
Look at what happened to the one where Cobra was called in. LE possibly did not even want the evidence from that search as it was no longer unencumbered.
Karen Boehm deserves justice, as well as Haleigh. I hope they find the gun and tie it to Karen`s murderer. We have been waiting fourteen months to find out what happened to Haleigh? Can you imagine waiting three years to find the killer as the Boehm family has had to do?

I want to ask a stupid question that may or may not have been covered by ya`ll? Did Ron have a house phone? Did they call 911 on a cell phone? If only cell phones were being used that night , the “pings” on a cell tower would determine their locations that night. From Ron, Misty, Tommy, Joe.. Has anything been reported or discovered about that?

I never found out for sure if there was a “house phone.” But I am sure that if LE is only half-qualified they’d have had the brains to check M and R’s phone records and “pings.”
I don’t know if they would have checked T’s or Joe’s back then. Although probably they would have checked Joe’s since they did have the FBI interview him after he’d returned to Tenn.
We can only HOPE that LE has covered this kind of BASIC investigation 101 stuff.

Misty supposedly turned hers off (I hope I am correct on this). But if she left the MH she was bound to have used it. Or if she called to Tommy or Timmy. Ron supposedly called Tommy to have him go check on Misty. Did Tommy call Ron back (and prove that he indeed went to the MH)? These many phone calls could prove who is lying.
Did anyone ever sit and figure the average per 8 hrs per call/ He would have made on average 5 calls per hour after his last call to Misty at 8-8;30. Thats like every 12 min. Just doing some math on it in case no one did.jmo
The only reason I brought this up is the misinformation that has gotten out there like how many times Ron tried to call Misty that night (20-90?), if Misty was indeed in the MH, how did TN get there so quickly and when did she know, if Tommy indeed went to the MH (assuming he used a cell phone) could be cleared up with just that info. I have teenagers and their cell phones are like a lifeline, as with these people. Cell phone records can shed alot of light on this case.

We have to depend on LE doing their job. Checking everyone’s phone records should have been step #1. With R and M being first on the list. But only LE knows the answers to your questions.
I only hope they checked a lot of other people’s phones too (including T, Joe, and Chad and others on the bio-mom’s side including Marie and Johnny/Marty Sheffield. Unfortunately I doubt they checked those).
One thing is sure about the calls. Ron did not trust her enough to think she had shut her phone off and had gone to bed. If that were the case he would not have made over 20 calls.And what couldnt wait till he got home and talked to her in person? jmo

She said she sometimes walked the kids over to Tommys on occassion.I think Tommy answered and later used this as a get out of jail free card. Misty even said thats what he did. It’s possible he was just ticked off. If her phone kept going to voice mail, he could have kept calling time after time (hang up, call again) every chance he got. If he could tell that her phone was turned off he could have kept calling thinking it would be back on again.

And since we do not know what times he called, then we cannot infer anything by whether or not she was exhausted or he even knew he was exhausted. This is just building a bunch of BS off a pile of BS.
The phone records are a point of contention with me. They could alleviate some of the rumors. Does Ron have a history of making calls to M while at work? Does he only call when he is on break? It not only matters how many calls were made but when they were made. That goes for all the players in this case.And these calls “might” give a location of one of these players and could prove/disprove their alibi by the “pings” on their cell phone.
Robin – R could have called T just to find out if M was there. R may not have asked T to go check on her. In fact I tend to doubt that he would ask that – even though T is claiming that he did.
We do not know who R called or when. I am sure LE knows.

I do not think I am in a position to explain them. The address reference is a known address linked to a POI(IMO) and the fact that it mentions a POI and Putnam, is to coincidental. I find it odd that Brian has not linked this dream to Haleigh’s DD. The mention of a e-mail threat is maybe an indication of why he has not done so. IDK not trying to o this more than necessary and with out dropping an e-mail with Brian. That is why I was wanting to discuss it with HGmom because she follows the site.

The argument between Ron and Misty was allegedly right around 8:30pm. This is when it was stated Mistys phone went off( at least that is what we have been told) Ron was suppose to have called Tommy at 9pm and he said he went to the mh between 9:30pm and 9:45pm left around 10pm and said it appeared noone was home. House dark and quiet. Normally when a cell is turned off and someone calls it goes straight to voice mail. All I remember hearing was that Ron called late into the evening when it was based on the 20 plus calls.

Now Tommys accountability from what happened from that point on could be a fabrication of Tommys. We only know what has been reported to us thus far.

The reason I’m now thinking the search probably isn’t about Haleigh is that I can’t imagine that LE would get the hopes up of a homicide victim’s family if they weren’t really searching in relation to her case. When they refused to talk about what case they were working, I was more suspicious.
m2c, I am from Volusia County. We do have our own divers. Putnam does not have their own divers. They usually call on St.Johns County for their assistance. I am cannot say this is or is not about Haleigh, Volusia is usually present when it is one of their cases.

It’s just sometimes the rumor “becomes perceived” as fact and all the “conclusions” drawn from it become “fact” or seem to be considered so by some people. And then it spreads like wildfire.
I am still looking for the “credible” source. LE spoonfeeds the media–and probably info that supports their theory. No “unbiased” reporting that might give a story on all aspects of this case, and of all the players–Croslins, Cummings, and Sheffields.

As far as Misty not confessing or talking, I believe that we have another lady who killed her daughter not talking, even with a boat load of evidence, and that was her bio daughter. What does Misty have to lose when her ultimate consequence is Ronald’s revenge? Prison is probably safer for her.
Tommys lawyer made a statement to that affect on Nancy Grace. I know his lawyer said they gave him the take it too Jesus speech or something like that letting Tommy know if he is lying about anything it will show.

The Volusia County line on hwy 17 ends in Seville, I think. Then you enter into Putnam County. The crime mentioned is no where close to this.
