Y'know something that just occurred to me about the supposedly propped-open-door? Has Misty ever mentioned anything about it being cold in the house when she woke up? It was February. If my door were standing open in South Putnam County in February, I would wake up because my bones would be aching from the cold. Her bones aren't as old as mine, but I feel that the cold would be what woke her up if it had been open very long at all.

No news on Haleigh! Everyone is quiet, what could be going on? I pray that Haleigh is not forgotten! It feels so empty...where is Haleigh Cummings? Someone has to know something, Lord...let the truth come out so that Haleigh can be found!

Please, don't forget about little Haleigh!

woodland,

Re the life insurance policy....Crystal came out and said it to the media right after Haleigh went missing. I remember it well! Links don't show up here, but if you check wftv.com, you'll find reference to it in a story on February 13, 2009.

"Haleigh's mother claimed to have purchased a whole-life insurance policy for her and the children. However, investigators said they have no information about the policy."

Aligoo March 16, 5pm: Thank you!! Also a tear jerker video: You tube, Ronald Cummings Isnt she lovely...watch it.
Pictures speak a thousand words...
A child's eyes never lie.

There is no way anyone could ever convince me that Ronald Cummings was a bad or negligent father. If we are judging him based on his drug use and history, then why not also include his history of a clean record once he became a father. It's all on his public court records.

What about the fathers who appear like model citizens but are horrible abusive cocaine snorting meth taking CEO's?? Drug addicted so- called "white collar" Fathers?? They are everywhere, we just don't notice it. How about the Fathers who have multiple DUI's, or do corrupt business deals??

It just makes me sick.

JB - when there are lots of comments and it starts taking a while to post and refresh, we can always look for earlier articles about Haleigh that have fewer comments. Then we can leave a note here telling everyone where we went.

OJ - LMAO - I didn't realize you had ACTUALLY cut and pasted that comment! It is just that you always say pretty much the exact same thing! LOL WOW! Didn't mean to pick on you....just wish you'd open up and actually join in the conversation instead of making the exact same comment about LE being bafoons and Misty being set-up. Tell us WHY you think that way instead of just making the same statement as I'm open to ALL theories and like to hear them but I want to know WHY you think the way you do so I can use the info and thoughts you have.....did that make ANY sense? LOL

OMG...too funny...well the first NG transcript I read from last night has NOTHING to do with Haleigh but it was a good read..... it appears that George may have had an affair! LMAO.... I wonder if this is the evidence that LE requested not be released that the judge approved for 30 days. Supposedly this chick has texts, emails, and pictures of her and Geo.... says he told her that Caylee's death was an accident that "snowballed out of control". Good Grief...am anxious to see if this pans out and this is all true about the affair. Cindy will KILL him! ROFLMAO...okay, going back to see if I can actually find something about Haleigh...Tobias...if you're still here...what transcript were you reading about Haleigh?

woodland, My woods are in Minnesota. I lost (sold) my home as it was old and unlivable while in my middle thirties. It was sell or lose it to taxes. This angered me to the point of retreating into my addictions and my woods. the longest time I camped was in 03 and 04. I went out in early May and didn't come out until two days before thanksgiving. It was an unusually warm fallin 03. In 04, I camped in the mine pit area of our community from the end of april until halloween. After that I was just too old to sleep on the ground, so I went out got a job and joined society again. It wasn't until I became sober that I really learned how connected to nature I really was. NOw my beautiful husband and I have a home to live in and a moterhome to camp in. Life is different but blessed in many ways that I never would have understood before.

In the last tapes that were put here on BNN Hank Sr. told Misty that Tommy was going to take a poly. This is right after Hank told Misty he did not believe if he is right about who she is pointing the finger at ha did not believe it.
I hope he takes a poly because if he passes that will make it easier for LE.

The last I heard that T wants to take a poly, he insisted that it be given by someone "private" NOT LE.
If that's the case, then who will pay for it? I wonder how much it costs to hire a polygrapher? Is this another bill poor Lindsy will be expected to pay for her idiot husband?
I usually don't like it when L Padilla involves himself in things but THIS might be a good use of his money IF he hired a really reputable company to administer the test and IF he did not attend or otherwise interfere with it.
That's the only way to call T's bluff - IF he's bluffing about wanting to take a poly.
And, another thought. So what if T passed a poly given by an independent company? Would that impress LE? What does T think it will prove (IF he's thinking at all, that is).

If he passes Misty is gonna have to find another patsy, seems she turned on the Sheffields the last time. Remember the Morning Show? The other side of the family? And it was really wierd that at the airport she tells a reporter she passed her poly and a few hours later on the show she says she failed cause she was nervous. She has lied as much as the wind changes and we all just shake our heads in amazement. Kinda like Casey and the Zanny the Nanny. jmo

Oh Woodland....when you use that link...down at the bottom on the left is a link that says "Read Transcripts of the Shows". Click on that.....it will give you transcripts of all the shows by date.....looks like the first one says "George Anthony Denies Reported Affair"...Oh, now THIS should be good! LOL

Don't let the titles fool you though....she usually covers a host of stories in each show. You can also click on video from her shows on different topics. Hope this helps. :D

I think LE knows alot more and has some kind of evidence and thats why tommy had no choice to admit that he was there that night. Maybe he was seen there by someone credible and LE forced him to admit it...I suppose they could have offered him a deal but that wouldn't be good for LE to do that since he would surely lie just to get the deal.

methinks, you needn't worry what I'll think... I'm a reformed wild child, and still kind of a trainwreck as an adult. Looney bin, rehab, and so on. I think it might be why I'm often too tolerant of the Croslin/Cummings/Sheffield antics (beyond what pertains to Haleigh, anyway.) My upbringing and adolescence et cetera pales next to this bunch -- but little they do actually surprises me.

to reiterate..the answer is - ‘Stranger’ abduction..the cops ruling that out was one of their many serious blunders. Every theory here is family related, big mistake. Remember Jon Benet Ramsey? The cops were POSITIVE it was the parents thereby wasting valuable time..the same has happened with Misty, vilified by NG to the point of poisoning the jury pool..what happen to “innocent til proven guilty”?

Tobias, thats true, but it seems these guys aren't very good at telling or even recognizing the truth...so I wonder if anyone would believe them if they did pass...Even LE might not take it for an indication of innocense simply because they've got it imbedded into their heads that he knows something.

JB... do you mind pointing me to where the NG transcripts can be found? I can't watch her, I really, really can't, but I realize something important could be said there. It seems less likely as time goes on, but it is possible.

It does make sense for Tommy if he isnt involved to take the poli. If he passes it will be easier to do his time, no one likes a person who may be responcible for hurting a child when they are in prison. This also would put more heat on Misty for lying.jmo

JB said,in March 17th, 2010 at 9:51 am G’mornin’ Tobias! Maybe I’ll go read the transcripts from NG’s show. Never watch her anymore. I can’t take the faces she makes, the sound of her voice or the way she treats guests so I just stick to transcripts! They don’t give me headaches or make me want to throw things! LOL

methinks,

:)

I love the woods, I think, because of my childhood. I was a really happy kid early on and so I think it connects me to that time. Everything really started to fall apart for me around age seven, but before that, in the woods alone or with the dogs, I was free. The older the woods, the better. I like all sorts of woods, but I love best old-growth woods all moist and mossy.

I am now too spoiled by creature comforts to spend months at a time camped out. I'm a homebody now. I've only been homeless once, for a two-week period, and I spent the nights in my car in an urban area. No fun. I wasn't familiar with the area so I didn't know of anywhere nice and wooded to go there.

Oh, and I have several moss terrariums and am building a rock garden with mosses and other cryptogams. I was a horticulture major in college, but alas I am a dropout.

Methinks, do you mind telling me where are these woods you lived in? Most of my time in the woods has been in West Virginia. I've lived on and off in Florida as well, and am very well aware that the "woods" in Florida are entirely different beasts than the ones where I grew up.

Sorry, everyone, for all the off-topicness. I wish I had something meaningful to contribute today.

Goodmorning everyone.
JB you are absolutely correct on your 8:41am post. These families should be open books for LE and you would think Haleigh would mean more to them. They live a such a shady life that they feel they need to protect themselves, instead of telling LE everything they need to help find little Haleigh. What a selfish bunch of people to have for a family. This is just putting it nicely. What I really think of them would not be appropiate to write here on this blog!!!

What I really think of them would not be appropiate to write here on this blog!!!

methinks! NO! Don't go away! I'm sure woodlanddark will enjoy your posts upon return. I think this just shows our "kindrid spirits" and there is nothing wrong with that. My childhood was WONDERFUL! Safe, secure, from a loving home and the world was a wonderful place for me. I feel children such as Haleigh and Jr. were/are robbed of that innocense and that makes me sad. A childhood should be carefree and worry free. Nature should play a big role in a childhood as it was EVERYTHING to me. I never wore shoes and was outside from dawn until dusk. Chasing lightening bugs on summer nights, a big tree swing, picnics, helping my folks in our garden, the smell of burgers cooking on the grill, riding my bike down twisting dirt roads.....ahhhh, the memories of a picture perfect childhood! *sigh*

I grew up out in the country too! A lot of woods and pasture land. I had paths worn through the woods and there were downed trees from tornados that made awesome hiding places. Made little forts and would pack a sack lunch and eat in the forts....even had a chipmunk that would share my lunch with me. I was solitary most of the time too. I loved to be very, very quiet and still and watch birds, rabbits, squirrels, etc..... even had a pet bluejay and a pet squirrel when I was little! LOL TOTALLY off topic but I was drawn in with the prior posts! I'm still a tomboy! LOL

JB - when my family sold the property "out in the boonies" where I spent the early part of my childhood, the people who moved in wandered across some of my rock piles and twiggy teepee sorts of things in the woods behind the house. Supposedly they were worried the rock piles were graves and were considering digging!! Luckily my grandfather still lived down the road a bit and was able to explain to his new (and unnerved) neighbors that a six year old kid had made those.

I had no idea at the time they could creep out a person, but thinking back on it now... yeh... a little creepy. :) I was just a kid playing, though. My early childhood was spent largely unsupervised and solitary save for a few good canine companions. And I still love the woods.

thewoodlanddark, I wanted to ask,and you certainly don't have to answer, but what compels you to spend time in the woods? I love the woods, and have spent upwards of six months at a time camping (living) in the woods. Granted, at the time , I was homeless, but in my life, I have learned that homelessness, is a state of mind...(for me) I love it! Is it your work or just a love that draws you to it? just curious. I know it's off topic, but I just couldn't help myself...Iwish I were young again, I would certainly take my heart back to the woods where it always seemed happiest. I'm sorry...now I'm babbling!

Uh, what did I miss with Nunz?

Thewoodlanddark - true, the people I work with here are mostly middle class. But the policies ARE cheap. I think some of the people here said that even though they were broke and didn't have much when their kids were born, they could afford these policies. But, since we don't even know whether there is a life insurance policy I guess the point is moot! LOL

m2c - I'm sure LE has alibi's for all the key players but we just don't know about them. But I SURE would love to know the alibi's (as they were provided AND verified to LE) for ALL of the key players. That would make it MUCH easier for us to fine tune our theories!

JB - About the lying and stuff. LE knows who took Haleigh to school and who picked her up. And LE has "seemed" satisfied that R was at work (or so it seems to us). M has stuck to her story of being at home asleep - she's changed other little parts of that story (sleeping arrangements, why she got up etc).
Why do people like MG lie about Chad's whereabouts? Does SHE have an alibi?
And then there are the totally unexplained and apparently ignored mysteries like - who put that make-shift chair in the woods? That really gives me the creeps.

JB... I am curious about the income bracket of the people you polled. I would guess that the parents you polled also have adequate health and life coverage for themselves, as well. I don't think a poll of your colleagues and the people who frequent BNN is a representative sample of the general population of the US.

the woodlandlark @ 8:24
You said, "Crystal doesn’t seem much like a plan-for-the-future or plan-for-the-unexpected sort of person. If there is a life insurance policy for Haleigh, I doubt it was Crystal’s idea."
- - -
I agree. I think MG and Johnny/Marty Sheffield do all the "thinking" for her.
Also, I don't know if C actually has the policy or if one of the grandparents does (like MG or J/M Sheffield) IF it's even true.
But you can't judge anything by whether C would be capable - that's irrelevant as long as MG and J/MS are pulling the strings.

Thewoodlanddark - having a life insurance policy on your child is uncommon? I don't think so! We had this conversation on here the other day and most of the posters had policies on their kids. I have one on my son! Got it when he was born through Gerber. So I polled 25 of my co-workers....of that 25, 19 had at least one policy on their child. I actually have the one through Gerber and one through work for my son. I have a huge one through work on my life. It IS common and it is cheap. When I had my son I probably received 8 or 10 offers for insurance for him. They are all small policies and allow you to transfer the policies over to them when they become an adult. Should your child, God forbid, develop some life threatening childhood illness, they are covered. If not, they've got a small nestegg when they turn 21 and guaranteed insurability. It is a win, win situation and it IS VERY common.

When I sit back and think about this case I really have to feel sorry for LE. What a mess! Normally in a case like this there is ONE suspect and LE just has to build a case. In this circus EVERYONE looks guilty by their actions, words and behavior. There is so much criminal activity In Ron's, Misty's and Crystal's family that LE has their hands full just keeping up with the daily crimes, much less have time to deal with the missing child investigation.

These people (ALL OF THEM) lie about things that seem so trivial that one is lead to believe that they lie just to lie.....so LE gets NO assistance from those closest to Haleigh. There are so many twists and turns and people trying to cover up crimes that no one is telling the truth. I don't know how LE is supposed to make heads or tails of this mess. I mean, even who picked Haleigh up that morning is a mystery. They can't even get that story straight. Then there is the mess of was Misty home that night or not, the phone calls, the knocking on the door and getting no answer, the rumors of where Misty was and who she was with. I mean, this is madness! The people that SHOULD be an open book and be sharing every little detail about their whereabouts, converstations, what they saw, who they talked to, etc....are the ones that are throwing road block after road block up in LE's way.

In a normal child abduction (if there is such a thing) you don't see so much obvious deceit and huge number of possible suspects. This truly is a nightmare for LE when you think about it.

I just read this and found it informative re: life insurance for children.

http://www.bankrate.com/brm/news/insurance/kids-life1.asp

Now I am even more curious to know if this is true or not. It seems so very unlikely. I would love to know from whence this notion came.

Hey me!!

Where did you hear/read Crystal has a life insurance policy on Haleigh?

I don't think we have confirmation that anyone has life insurance on Haleigh...BUT....it is cheap, easy to get and very common. When you have a child you receive TONS of these offers in the mail. For $20 to $30 a year you can insure your child for $10,000. The policies build cash value (meaning you can take loans on them or cash them in) and when your child becomes an adult you can transfer ownership of the policy to them. It guarantees they are insureable in the future. It could be someone in the family (either side) took out one of these policies out of nothing but love.

Another scenario is that they knew Haleigh was sick and took out the policy to cash in. I don't like to think of that scenario but with this bunch who knows.

In summary, I do not believe we have ANY confirmation there even IS a life insurance policy or who supposedly purchased it and is beneficiary of the policy. Just rumor as far as I know!

m2c, thanks very much. Where did people get the idea that Crystal had/has life insurance on Haleigh? Do you know? I'm just curious because I hadn't really heard that before.

I find all matters of insurance to be baffling -- I didn't know a policy could be cashed in later, for example. All that sort of stuff is way over my simple head.

It seems doubtful to me, though, because Crystal doesn't seem much like a plan-for-the-future or plan-for-the-unexpected sort of person. If there is a life insurance policy for Haleigh, I doubt it was Crystal's idea.

thewoodlandlark:
To sum that up:
- I don't think it's a known FACT that someone on the biomom side has life insurance on Haleigh.
- IF someone does, then for how much?
- The answer to that may determine whether it's "normal" (as in many parents do that for several reasons - to pay burial costs if necessary, to start a little nest egg that can be cashed in later if not needed for its original purpose)
- How much are the monthly payments for such a policy for Haleigh (did ins company know about her Turner's Syndrome or not?)
- Does anyone have life insurance on Jr, too?
- There may be a law about how long someone has to be "missing" before they can be declared "dead" in order to get the insurance money. I am sure the insurance company will be as slow to pay out as they can possibly be.

So, in short, IF anyone has life insurance on Haleigh, it should be a long time before they could collect (IMO)

Good morning, everyone.

Can anyone point me to the info re:life insurance on Haleigh? If I'd heard that before, I'd forgotten it. If that's true, how "normal" is that? I don't have children, so I have no idea.

Also, if the life insurance thing is true, don't those policies generally have a clause for someone who is missing to be declared, after a given amount of time, "dead?"

I think we all make wrong assumptions from time to time...we're not having face to face discussions, so sometimes we misinterpret what people are saying or who they are saying them to. I think we all get that!

me, I do trust and believe that LE does look at every possible theory and clue. LE cannot confirm nor deny a lot of things pertaining to an ongoing investigation. When I hear that it means that they are doing their job.

I am admittedly tired so forgive me if what I am about to say comes out a mess.
Assuming can blind people to the truth. Look at what happened to me today when I assumed something incorrectly. It was very embarrassing. I do assume things sometimes too and knowing that I have that weakness can only make me try even harder to look at things more openly and more objectively.

Goodnight me.

The view I formed, or what I thought I read between the lines from him, was, "don't think we aren't clever...we didn't miss that....we do everything for a reason." And then just a few weeks later TJ was talking about how he'd heard Chad was being looked at again, and when he spoke to LE, they refused to confirm or deny it. And it was also around that time they made the tunnel vision statement. I really think they are looking well beyond Misty, Ron & their families, no matter what Art Harris tries to sell us!

ITA. Just saying though that you can watch Bowling and form your own opinion as to whether he thinks it happened or not. I didn't pay much attention to what others said about it, but certainly formed a view after I listened to what he said about it, and the way he says it. It's kind of an interesting interview and I thought he might be dropping some hints in it. I'd be curious to hear what others think. We can all hear the same thing, but all hear different things...kwim?...lol.

If it were posible that the info was intentionally leaked about that area then there would very potentially be the proof that LE does not and did not have tunnel vision as some have suggested.
...Just saying.

As for the rest I am still interested to know facts vs opinion on that. I cannot possibly be the only one who is curious.

Tuff Stuff,

One of the people who posts here and has been posting elsewhere on this case from the beginning was involved in the search and reported it to LE shortly after it occurred. I believe Cobra gives basically the same story she does.

Also, it wasn't Greenwood that spoke of the search, at least he didn't as far as I know. It was PCSO Major Gary Bowling. And he said a lot more than that! His interview is on youtube and it's worth a listen to. It led me to believe LE were looking at that side of the family very closely. And shortly after that, I think it was Greenwood, made the comments about LE not having tunnel vision.

Tuff Stuff,

One of the people who posts here and has been posting elsewhere on this case from the beginning was involved in the search and reported it to LE shortly after it occurred. I believe Cobra gives basically the same story she does.

Also, it wasn’t Greenwood that spoke of the search, at least he didn’t as far as I know. It was PCSO Major Gary Bowling. And he said a lot more than that! His interview is on youtube and it’s worth a listen to. It led me to believe LE were looking at that side of the family very closely. And shortly after that, I think it was Greenwood, made the comments about LE not having tunnel vision.

About the alleged fake search.
How do we know exactly who staged that search if indeed it were staged?
So far we have heard Cobra's eye witness account of what he experienced as well as hearing from a woman with a dog and then Lt. Greenwood who said something to the affect that whomever did it must have had their own agenda?

Who is to say that information about that area of where the alleged fake search wasn't intentionally leaked by whomever to see how those people would respond? That in itself would be an agenda if it were the case. I am certainly interested to know actual facts about that whole hinky situation and not just opinions only kwim?

Do we really know when the fight over the gun happened? All we have for so much of this case is statements from people close to the main players, and alot of that has been lies. I really haven't made up my mind on any of it, because we don't have all of the pieces of the puzzle.

Karon, yes, definitely, the staging could have been about having to cover up a fatal accident. Well, some of the staging. Some of the staging that I am thinking about started a few days before Haleigh went missing. It really looks like Ron was trying to set up Cuz Joe with the fight over the gun. I'm not entirely sure of the details anymore, though.

Kate:

I can overlook some coincidences, but not so many. I don't think Ron was in on a kidnapping, but I do see the staging of all of this. That could have happened after an accident happened to Haleigh, however.

I believe that the only reason Ron would have been in on a kidnapping would be to let Crystal take Haleigh, then in time, Jr. I believe the only reasons he would have gone along with this was to keep Misty. He may have known his mother and grandmother would be down on him if he just turned the kids over to Crystal. I don't think this is what happened, however, but that could have been one motive.

jojo, No, I sure don't think anyone saw Barbara from Texas forking over $or whatever coming. I'm not sure exactly what their plan was, and I'm not sure that they did either. Because they sure didn't anticipate the media attention that made the whole thing go sideways.

I do think that there were attempts to make her look dead, like the staged search at the church in San Mateo. I can't quite figure out what they were trying to achieve there but because you said what you did, leads me to wonder if they were trying to make Haleigh look dead. Maybe they could have collected on the insurance policy after a period of time even if no body was ever found? I don't know how thier policy was set up or how typical policies are set up.

My guess is that it doesn't matter what LE has said, "the world is still a suspect." If they actually say that they have ruled out this person or that person, I think that it is strategic. You know that saying, "Give 'em enough rope and let 'em hang themself" or something like that.

And what you say at the end about it happening at Ronald's house with his choice of caregiver, such an important point. ITA!!!

OJ's glove, until Sunday afternoon I thought that NG was totally and unfairly convicting Misty in a TV court. And I still think NG is a terrible person. (Although that is a problem for me to think because after last week and the way she treated Misty, I was never going to watch her show again. But I was weak and watched her tonight. So I think that makes me a terrible person too.)

Anyhow, I suddenly realized that it didn't have to be EITHER one set of culprits OR another. There is the possibility, although less likely, that multiple people or multiple groups of people are involved.

So now I've been taking another look at Misty and Ronald because before Sunday I was thinking it was not them.

I'm back but I guess that I am the only one here right now. Yesterday I really agreed with all the comments about Ron not being in on agreeing about a custody switch. The only reason I needed that was to understand Ron's motivation for being involved. Because there are so many things that, put together, make him look awfully guilty. So to those of you who agree that Ron looks awfully guilty, just pretend that someone suggests to Ron some plan along these lines. Would money be enough motivation for him to agree to this? Or, he didn't necessarily agree to what actually happened, he just had to agree to something that gave the kidnappers what they needed, access to the house. And all that stuff about Joe and the gun. If that wasn't about setting the stage for this, how does it fit in? Or is it just conincidental?

Ok so a rich woman came forward and paid Crystals back child support, so she knew that was gonna happen? Also, if she did have insurance on Haleigh, she has no proof she is dead so thats out, she cant collect on it.LE has said she is not suspect, so, how come when they say Ronald isnt suspect it is law, but when they say the same for Crystal, it is looked over? I just dont see Crystal as having anything to do with HaLeighs dissapearance, it happened at Ronalds home with his choice of caregiver and it is her who had something to do with this child being gone.

kate W...well of course, I could be wrong and I would accept that, but to be part of a lynch mob mentality I refuse to participate..I want to look at this with eyes wide open not as NG or the police would prefer I view it..they want a scapegoat for their blunders and its Misty.

Kate W. here, hi OJ's glove, just wanted to let you know that I, for one, was POSITIVE that Jon Benet Ramsey's parents WERE NOT INVOLVED. But then one some of the things that contributed to my reasoning made me say, "Wow, I was wrong. Hmm." But then that latest touch DNA stuff came out and, nope, turns out I wasn't wrong. But when I thought I was, no problem.

OJ,

ITA, but not sure it was a stranger. Though I obviously feel it is still a real possibility and have posted that many times before. Every RSO for miles was cleared within the first few days. How could that be possible?

Yep, NG & her constant "Misty was the last person to see haleigh alive" stuff is driving me bonkers. That woman needs to be sued real bad. I hope the Ducketts are successful against her, and I hope the Duke boys line her up as soon as the Ducketts are done.
