Well so says Robert Fields, the attorney for Misty Croslin. Mr. Fields sent a strong letter to our good friend Leonard yesterday.

Actually the video tells a slightly different story. In the tapes (yes there are several) Misty Croslin tells a very different story.
Call him, get him started on this tonight. I want to be out tomorrow. (Paraphrased)
Mr. Fields goes on to tell Leonard Padilla to basically pound sand.
..To be clear, I am advising you that I have again conferred with Misty and she reaffirmed her position that she does not desire your assistance in any form.
I have spoken to Leonard on several occasions, I doubt that Fields getting himself in the middle will stop this freight train.
If Padilla goes for it, I think he is stupid, there is no way that he will get his $135K back. But Padilla does things his own way. Only time will tell on this story.
Padilla is not the first person that has contemplated getting Misty Croslin out of jail, and I doubt he will be the last.
It is my theory that the longer the entire group of miscreants, the Croslins, Cummings, and their nasty friends, stay behind bars the better off we are.
Haleigh Cummings has now been missing for over a year. Lets find Haleigh, and lets leave all of these losers in jail. Not one of them has done anything to help find Haleigh. Why let them out? Give me one good reason why these people should be allowed to walk our streets.

When I think of LP I remember how disappointed I was when he bailed CA out, and she didn’t say a word. Still hasn’t. I am afraid the same would happen here. That is assuming MC, or any of them know anything. I think LP means well. I just don’t think it will be productive.
I had another thought…remember how RC didn’t want GA to have anything to do with his missing daughter? It would be interesting to know whether or not he would want LP to go away too.
I was really frustrated with LP when he bailed Casey out. I think that free time just gave her private time to connive with her family.

Great article and I completely agree Simon. When I heard the news Ron, Misty and company were arrested, I all but threw a party. They are exactly where they belong and whether Haleigh is found or is not found, they will serve the time even if it means they are technically serving under a different crime.
Ron called it from the start, on the 911 call, “I ain’t skeered a prison, prison don’t skeer me” he knew then he’d end up in the clink and was preparing himself way back then. Mama’s boy is ready for the big house. Ron cares about Ron, he’ll never own up to the truth, it’s in his genes, it’s in his blood to lie, steal, cheat and die w/the truth. All you have to do is look around him, from his Mom to his Dad to his Grandma and so on. He won’t break, but at least he is exactly where he belongs. I hope he is cursed for life.

The lawyers don’t want these tapes out at all. Florida has the sunshine law that gives the press access to the tapes. I am sure LE holds back information that they don’t want out until the appropriate time. Look how they have strung the Anthony evidence release out.

Robert Fields handled her divorce, so he has been around for awhile.
You also asked (at 12:47 am) how she pays for him. I imagine that he is pro bono. In high profile cases, it’s not unusual for attorneys to take the cases for free. It’s a lot of publicity for an attorney, even if they are not in the media doing interviews (such as Attorney Fields), although he does talk to Art Harris (eye roll).
What about RC does he have an atty also?
Ron has a criminal attorney (Terry Shoemaker), and his prior family law attorney from the same office (Brandon Beardsley) is no longer representing him. I believe he has a different family law attorney handling issues pertaining to custody of Junior. His name should be available in the Court docket.
So yes, Niterbug, Ronald has 2 attorneys, one handling the criminal charges, and one handling family law issues.

Chad Eugene Reynolds, 25, is a missing sex offender. Reynolds was last seen on Feb 1, when he was leaving his mother’s home in Ochlawaha, Florida. Reynolds was reported missing on Feb 4. Reynolds drove away in a borrowed car from his friend. Reynolds later called to say the car had broken down. The car was found but Reynolds had disappeared.
Reynolds was sentenced in 2002/ or 2003 to 7 years in prison for robbery and sexual molestation of a minor. Reynolds was released in Nov 2008. He was placed on 10 years community supervision. Reynolds is a registered sex predator and has to report to his mother’s house daily. According to his mother, this is the first time Reynolds has gone missing.
Reynolds was tried and sentenced in Putnum County and this is the same county where Haleigh Cummings had gone missing on Feb 10.

25 year old Chad Eugene Reynolds, a registered sex offender is missing in Florida. Chad Eugene Reynolds was last seen on February 1, 2009 when he left his mother’s home at 3 Bay Court Run in Ocklawaha on that Sunday to watch the Super Bowl at a local bar. Reynolds was reported missing on February 4. Ocklawaha is about 2 hours away from Satsuma, FL where Haleigh Cummings went missing. Haleigh Cummings was last seen on the night of February 9 at approximately 10 pm. Could there possibly be a connection?
Scared Monkeys had previously reported that there were 44 sex offenders within a 5 mile radius of the Cummings’ home. However, could what police are leaning towards in an abduction been committed by a sex offender outside that 5 mile radius?

Reynolds reportedly borrowed a car from a friend and then later called to say the vehicle had broken down near the Marion/Lake County Lines, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. The car was located in an undisclosed location south of Marion County, but Reynolds was nowhere to be found.
Chad Eugene Reynolds had been previously sentenced in Putnum County, the same county where Haleigh was reported missing, for armed burglary and lewd and lascivious molestation of a child younger than 12 that occurred on Sept. 3, 2002. Reynolds was released in November and is on 10 years of community supervision. Chad Reynolds has not been called a suspect officially; however, any common sense thinking person would have to put him in a person of interest category.<——

Chad Reynolds reportedly called Baker and told her he was at the Wal-Mart in Summerfield and that the vehicle had broken down.<—–
By the time Baker got there, Reynolds had gone. Baker later found her vehicle in Sumter County along U.S. 441. Baker told deputies the last time she spoke to Reynolds was 2:15 a.m. the following Monday. Five minutes after that call, Reynolds called his mother’s home but did not leave a message. On Feb. 3, a man identified only as “Ryan” told deputies he received a call from Reynolds; however, he did not speak with him because the phone was disconnected as soon as he said hello.
Deputies contacted Reynolds’ place of employment, Longhorn Steakhouse restaurant in Sumter County, and was told by the manager that Reynolds had not reported to work for two days.<—-

LE seemed to rule Chad R out awfully fast, I wondered why. They centered in on Misty, early on. They must have something we don’t know about that is damning, but not quite enough to convict her.
What kind of “break-down” did the car have? I’m wondering if it was a starter thing cause sometimes when they are about to go out they work intermittenly. So maybe when he called to say broke down, it was but after trying to start it (maybe even a jump from someone) he was able to work his way back or onward but it stopped or broke down again. That could explain why in different location. Maybe he was killed by someone who picked him up on the hwy. I’d have to plot on the map to have a better idea if this “theory” of mine would hold water.
I believe I read something about the possibility of Chad falling asleep in a dumpster outside a Walmart and getting carted off to the dump. (Fitting for a RSO, huh?) I don’t know where that theory originated, though. I believe there was a basis for that, but I don’t recall what it was. Someone else might?

Oh God Holly,I can’t hold it back now since we had cars and teeth going at the same time,my hubby was putting a starter on our car once and i took him a cup of coffee out there and he raised up and all 4 of his teefs was gone,the starter fell on his mouth……he took them to the dentist and they put them back in but didn’t last long!

I imagine it a somewhat like a nicotine addiction (worse of course but similar). If I am almost out I become almost preoccupied with getting some more. Everywhere you go you have to check to make sure you’ve got them and all the accesories needed (Lighter, ashtray)and if you actually run out where you can’t get to anymore it is constantly comming to mind. I know myself, if I know I have a few, I am ok but as soon as I know I’m out it’s all I can think about. Terrible, huh?
Karon,i quit on my own after my husbands killer went to trial…..I saw my grandson going through so much missing his papa and I stayed high Karon as not to deal with his death,he was murdered in 2003 and 2005 it went to trial and i decided Dakota deserves better…….I was broke………miserable,and for the first time i dealt with Johnnys death sober so it was a rude awakening but to answer specifically Karon,I don’t know how i can give one reason why,really it was just so many things but most of all……My Grandson!!

I had doulble pneumonia while i was withdrawing,104 fever for 3 days….swore i was dying!omg you cannot imagine the pain,doesn’t even come close to nicotine withdrawls!!
I feel like one of those people Karon. I know I should quit, been told I have to quit if I want to live longer than 10 yrs but when I tried recently it got derailed very quickly. I have an allergy to the patch, can’t use the nasal spray or perscription chantix due to health reasons and am just plain old chicken to try it cold turkey. I turn into another person whom I don’t like very much and my family members bear the brunt of it. Gosh….I wish it were easier.
I think those with any form of OCD have a harder time with it as well.

While looking up Chad’s info I realized that he was born to a youngish mom. She was only 19 or 20 when he was born and possibly 18 or 19 when she concieved. Doesn’t mean a whole lot other than maybe he also had a rough upbringing.
They moved around A LOT TOO!! Mostly same cities but a lot of moves.

I totally understand. People use all sorts of substances to overcome social anxieties. Alcohol is another good example of how people who are normally shy aren’t so when drinking. My hubby is that way. Most of the time we have to poke him to get a response out of him (LOL) but if he’s had a few cocktails or beer we can’t shut him up. We don’t drink very often but when he mentions it our son & daughter groan and say “What are you gonna do, wake us up with your alcohol breath to tell us you love us again.” LOL! or “Oh….no….we’ll never shut him up” It’s all good ribbing though.
ohhh,then you do understand Karon,I’ve come out of alot of it,because i guess i’ve been on my own for 7 yrs now and when i make a choice,i know i have to live with it and I wil stand up for myself alot more! LoL

It seems there has been a lot of information lately about people who use methadone to quit one drug only to have an even harder time to quit the methadone or maybe even have to use it the rest of their life since they can’t face detoxing. Scares the h*ll out of me…believe that! I had a nightmare about being abducted at 15. I the dream a guy strapped me to a bed and injected me to keep me there. It wa terrifying and I still get chills when I remember it. I have often wondered if I was getting a message from a real victim, it was that real. I was scared to death it was a premonition type deal…

I went back and started from the “sope boys” speech and at that time, there was no toothpick in his left hand nor in his mouth. He doesn’t seem to have one until after Misty & Hope return to the car.

Hmmmm…Misty told the UC that she had lost the money once, or been robbed of the money. It’s not in a vid, it’s in one of the Incident Reports. I wonder now if she was just telling him of another deal where she got robbed…that time she got roughed up and called 911 to report being robbed. IDK, takes guts to call the cops and report you were ripped off during a drug buy, imo. But it goes to show she was dealing long before they set up the sting.

IF Misty can give information so that HaLeigh is found I say fine, let Padilla bail her out. BUT not until HaLeigh is found. Sketchy info - no good. An absolute find only. Then drop the trafficking charges and send her to a desert island along with the rest of her family and the Cummings. They don’t deserve to be with law abiding people.
I ran into a post yesterday, that stated misty had made a comment in one of her jail video’s, that if she told what she knew, that PCSO Officers would look unknowlegable, thats a kind way of putting. Was that comment actually made?
And does anyone know which Jail House performance it was made in?
Simon, I can give you absolutely no reason in this world, that any of them, should hit the street.. And it is about time one of them told what they know, and where is Haleigh.. What happened that night? I do believe that, there are things that have been lied about, that was so simple there was absolutely no reason to lie about!!
If one of them harmed Haleigh, I could rationalize why they would cover it up and lie about it. But, if no one intentionally harmed Haleigh, and did actually pass, then why lie, why didn’t they call 911 to report her condition, why wasn’t an ambulance called? Was the lie to cover the fact that there were actually drugs in the home?
This entire case has been covered and stretched to its very limits, and I have to wonder are the lies there, because its common to lie about everything?? Does Misty know that Haleigh is alive and in general where she might be?? Well, Misty is certainly in the safest place she could be if she were frightened of someone, that keeps her from being honest.. Does she not realize that by telling the truth and what she knows, that her bond would probably be reduced and she might be able to get out of jail without the drama with LP? He is not her only option.. The Truth will set you Free, or close to being Free!! What about that statement does Misty not get?? What is it about that statement that Tommy doesn’t get? Should I include Ronald as the same, or what is it besides the drug issue that keeps his bond so high?
I have no doubt in my mind, that PCSO wants to keep all of them right smack where they are, until they tell the Truth!!! So darn simple its comical..
Is Daddy Hank, working with the Detectives? I would love to know the answer to that.. Why does he go so close to getting answers and then clam up?? This certainly could help his case that’s pending Trial. What about all the names that have been thrown out the last few weeks? All of the little details that have been exposed? Are there new Warrants waiting to be served?? Why hasn’t Lisa or Hank, looked at the kids and said.. You know, if you tell the truth, You might help keep your parents from going back to jail or prison.. Shouldn’t that effect either Misty or Tommy??
I also agree with issues that Simon has brought out prior.. The Me, Me, Me makes both Misty and Tommy sound like their both 5 years old, and the world evolves around them.. Misty doesn’t need junk food, nor does tommy.. maybe a toothbrush and toothpaste, but not junk food from the commissary.. So, those funds going in are actually a waste in my mind.. If they don’t have them, and these things mean so much to both, shoot.. Just tell the truth and life will change.. Take her phone access away and tell her, you want to talk to people.. Tell the Truth!! I almost choked on my coffee, when misty announced in one of her videos, that she couldn’t see the tv, so she complained and they were going to move it for her.. WHY? No one wants to speak up, you know why? B/c after doing YEARS for these drug charges- they will be free. Just finished reading the overnight posts by Hollys Gmom, Niterbug, Cathartic & CathyJo (and others) - such a nice group. CathyJo - you deserve good luck & happiness. You have been dealt more than most and handle it beautifully. Note to Hollys Gmom: Quitting smoking was the hardest thing I’ve done. When ever it got really bad I would remind myself that I would smoke again when I was about 75. I can’t wait! Only 25 years to go! My family also thinks I am nuts for following this case so closely. Something about it just tugs at me - I don’t know why. I think I just want to make sense of it.
Well said WthACherry, I bet they think they have gotten away with it for this long - just keep quiet…That is probably why LE kept the sting going as long as possible to ensure multiple drug charges. Also, mlee - Misty reminds me of most teenagers - self-centered and unable to see beyond tomorrow. I agree that she should be denied comforts (visits, snacks, TV).

LE would know anything going on with Misty.

I’m all for the “Fabulous Five eff-ups” to get whatever appropriate sentences are meted out by the court for their drug offenses.
But that doesn’t satisfy me as far as Haleigh is concerned.
What worries me is the possibility that LE thinks the public WILL be satisfied with that and LE will not continue to try to discover what really happened to Haleigh.

Maybe that’s where LE comes in - offering a “deal” on the drug offences and some kind of deal depending on M’s culpability in what happened to Haleigh.
If LE is not willing to negotiate on that, then I don’t know why they bothered with the sting or the high bails - unless as I said in my post above @10:04 am - LE thinks that locking these people up for a long time for any reason is enough to satisfy the public.

Hi, Cent! Yes it would be great but it would also cost LE time and money to have a site like that. Their job is to make the tapes available as appropriate (when they are part of “discovery”) and the Sunshine Law then allows the tapes to be accessed/obtained by the media. So it’s the media’s job (time/money) to enable us to see them.
methinks - good idea for LP and LE to work together but I wonder if that’s sort of illegal? I don’t know. I know LP has always shown a lot of respect for LE (although often it’s not returned).
methinks: Yes in the Melissa Huckabee case it’s very different. I think partly because that state does not have the Sunshine Law but also because the Judge sealed it due to the horrific nature of the crime against a child.

m2c, Thanks for clearing that up for me about melissa huckabee. I knew that alot of it was because there is no sunshine law, but I wasn’t sure if the case was sealed. I’m glad for that. I couldn’t imagine being the parent of little sandra and having to see her murder brought up everytime the tv is on. At least they have her murderer in custody.

You know this past week we have saw some developments in the Halloway and Keesey case. These cases are four years old. These parents never stopped looking and banging on LEs’ door. They have been diligent to find their children. These children are adult age, but their babies nonetheless. Haleigh was only five years old. This case frustrates me to no end. It even gets me ANGRY! Perhaps this is what draws me in to the point of being obsessed. I just wish Haleigh had family like these girls.
I want to thank Simon and Jan for this blog. It is the only way I can bang on LEs’ door.

There are no good reasons. They committed the crimes… ‘for the video tells me so’ (sung to the tune of For The Bible Tells Me So by Dale Evans Rogers)… and now must pay the price - jail!
Tobias, the state releases tapes as part of discovery - which is part of building their cases against these people. That’s a process and it takes time. And LE may have released what they have for specific purposes. Maybe negotiations are underway or who knows what.
The tapes are part of the legal process first. Then parts of them become available to the media.
Hi, Cent - The state already “cleans up” the tapes when they redact them for legal purposes. And I guess from what you’ve described, the state also puts them on DVDs for the media upon request. I don’t understand what more you want the state to do?
Sara Jane - I don’t think any of us want these folks out for good…they did the crime and need to serve the time….we just want more pressure put on Misty…and we think that if LP were to at least bond Ron out (a temporary thing until court and sentencing) she would be singing like a canary because she wants out so badly. That is the ONLY reason, IMO, any of us are wishing LP would bail Ron and perhaps Tommy out….we aren’t suggesting they be free to roam the streets indefinitely….they still have to face charges….we just know how badly Misty is wanting out and know that her hearing that Ron and/or Tommy were out would drive her over the edge and I’ll be happy to fix popcorn for EVERYONE when/if that video ever comes out!

I’m still curious about Misty’s comments about talking to LP but that it is “nothing about her”. Is she saying that just to get bonded out or does she really know something. If she knows something she needs to spit it out…NOW…..

tobias, how would we know if the press was trying to interview anyone or not? Maybe some of them are and when/if they get an answer they’ll report on it. I seriously doubt the press knows any more than we do at this point.
Misty is giving other people up. She said a lot about Donna and how, where DB got her drugs. She gave up Tommy for the burglery and she told her Dad that Rons family all does drugs, that they are not as good as people think. Gettin’ closer.

Tobias….I thought about that too (a rumor) but her family would tell her very quickly that it wasn’t true. I mean, LE can tell her anything and I would LOVE for them to get her to believe that Ron and even Tommy was bailed out but I think it might backfire because you can bet she’d want some verification and her family would tell her that Ron and/or Tommy were indeed still behind bars. Then Misty wouldn’t believe anything LE told her again from that point. Unless she spilled the beans immediately after being told, it would be a long shot….jmo of course….I bet LE has considered it though! LOL

It is real interesting how things turned after Ron got arrested. All of a sudden GGMS was mad that Misty was watching the kids again but never said that until the arrest. TN accusing Misty of dragging Ron into this but before she was the best girlfriend he had and the kids loved her.They were looking out for Ron and their images from the get go and now that he is arrested they are blaming it all on Misty.
In my opinion Ron and Misty were both like this and probably worse before Haleigh disappeared and everyone covered for them.
I just wonder what else they lied about?

I have theories of my own, but I remain open to any and all possibilities. Haleigh may have died, but there is no proof of that. She may be alive, but there is no evidence of that.
When Jaycee Lee Dugard surfaced after 18 years, the story was heard around the world. The unfolding saga is one that certainly would have been dismissed by many had it ever been posed as a theory. Jaycee’s family loved her and mourned her loss for a very long time after she was taken but it is difficult to believe that after so many years they still had hope of ever seeing her again. And now they have her back in their arms. Truth is, indeed, stranger than fiction.
With Haleigh, I see many theories discussed and some seem so far-fetched there appears to be no possible way they could be plausible, yet I cannot dismiss a single one.
OJ’s glove suggested that Haleigh was taken by someone who had lost a child. OJ believes that person is raising Haleigh as their own.
Since I cannot dismiss any theory at this point, OJ’s theory forces me to ask, “What if?”
The thought that Haleigh might still be alive is not just wishful thinking on my part. Elizabeth Smart was found alive months later and Jaycee years later. I cannot discount that this might be possible with Haleigh.
If Padilla wants to help find Haleigh, I would suggest he stay away from the key players in the case and focus on the seemingly implausible. Perhaps Padilla would do better ignoring Misty and working instead with OJ’s glove.
The idea that Haleigh was taken by someone who wished to raise her as their own is not above the realm of possibility. JMO.

JB, I agree they know something. And I think they are right where they belong not only for their drug charges, but for Haleigh as well.
I believe LE has physical evidence that makes them question Misty’s story. One thing might be that the bed was made when they arrived. That would prove she was not sleeping and woke up to find Haleigh gone or, at the very least that she was not sleeping in the bed.
My point is that we have learned from other cases that anything is possible and until we know for sure, no stone should be left unturned.
I don’t know at this point who all has information that would solve the case but someone knows what happened. A child does not just disappear into thin air.
The lifestyle of the key players is responsible for what happened to Haleigh. Whether it was foul play, an accident, or someone “rescued” Haleigh from her environment, it all comes down to the fact that Haleigh was left vulnerable to whatever happened that night.
My post does not mean I have jumped onto OJ’s bandwagon; it only means I must consider all possibilities.

On one of the tapes, Misty said to the UC officer, “…and my 17th birthday…was Haleigh.” There was a pause in mid-sentence. The inflection in her voice says she was not happy about her 17th birthday. I never caught heard her say “ruined” but she might have; the audio on my laptop is not the greatest.
On one of the more recent jail tapes Misty said to Hank that what she has to say will make the police look stupid. Or, like idiots, sorry can’t remember which word she used. But the gist is the same.

Catharic - I thought what you wrote was very thought provoking and it was a great read so no need to apologize for the length of the post. I too want to stay objective but I’m with you 110% when you say that Ron and Misty are responsible for Haleigh’s disappearance due to their habits, lifestyle and choices. I’ve made that statement on here many times (perhaps not as well as you did) and got flogged for it! LOL I totally agree though. If nothing else they should face child endangerment charges. They see nothing wrong with their drug activity, foul language, domestic disputes, kids riding without seatbelts, fights, thieving, threatening, etc…..to them it is the norm. I would love to think that Haleigh was “rescued” and is with a loving family; unfortunately that makes me very sad for Jr. thinking he was left to deal with the mess. I would think someone would have taken both of them…if they were indeed there to rescue. It is always easier to think of the possibilities that have happy endings, that this was a rescue mission, that Haleigh is somehow better off. However, reality and the statistics tell me otherwise. I just hope SOMEDAY, very soon, the truth will be known and Haleigh will be brought home. If she is still living I can only pray that she goes into a WONDERFUL foster home. If she is no longer with us which is what I truly fear is the case, then she should receive the proper, respectful burial she deserves. I don’t want to think of her rotting in the woods like Caylee Anthony. NO CHILD should ever be treated that way! Children are God’s gift and should be treated as such! CathyJo, I believe that transcript you pointed me to is valid. It was mechanically-transcribed and that is obvious from the grammatical errors and weird wording. But some phrases are understandable and the speaker did say Ron said the bed was made.
Now I want to find out if it is true that the washer was running when Ron got home. Beds being made and laundry in progress in the midst of a crisis are red flags.
So has anyone read the actual letter from Fields to LP?

The thing about M saying what she did about her birthday is that in the clip I saw we did not hear what came before it.
I am not defending M, but I am using this to point out that when statements are taken out of the context in which they were said, it can give the statement an entirely different meaning than what we think.
For example (I made this up for the purposes of an example), IF we heard a clip of M saying, “I’m guilty!” but did not hear what came before it, we might not know that what she really said was, “The cops want me to say ‘I’m guilty’.”
So in this particular situation for all we know the UC was leading her on, saying stuff like “I bet watching two kids was a pain, really cut into your party life.”
Or maybe M said, “I really love kids but they really “test” you! “I had to watch Haleigh and it messed up my birthday.”
And, really, if we’re all honest, how many parents have NOT said stuff like “my kids are a pain in the Axx.” You know? Doesn’t mean they don’t love them.
Okay, I believe this has been said before but if Ron was only trying to get Misty busted and behind bars so he could find Haleigh, why would he have to be worrying about a snitch in jail and watch what he says?
I’m sorry but I’m not buying the whole “I did this to find my daughter” routine. He was high as a kite on that UC tape…he had a pill in his mouth that he skimmed…he was asking what the UC was smoking, what drugs he had….and I don’t believe for a MINUTE that was all an act. That was the TRUE Ron for all the world to see…no more “Yes, Ms. Nancy”…”No, Ms. Nancy”….”Thank you Ms. Nancy”….that was the true blue drug riddled Ron showing through!

Earlier today, Putnam County Sheriff Jeff Hardy said that investigators have collected evidence from Cummings’ mobile home but would not describe the evidence.
“I can’t discuss what evidence was taken into custody,” Hardy said. “I don’t want to reveal what was found or not found.”
The evidence has since been sent to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Regional Crime Lab for analysis.
Speaking with Fox News, Putnam County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Steve Rose confirmed reports that there have been prior problems with Cummings, Croslin, and the children. He refused to elaborate on what the problems were, saying only, “There have been some investigations done through the Department of Children and Families,” Rose said.
On Tuesday, Haleigh’s mother, 23-year-old Crystal Sheffield, and her grandmother, Marie Griffis, arrived on the scene from Georgia. Griffis initially told the media that there were no problems between her daughter and Cummings; today, however, she told the media that their relationship had been “rocky.”
“If you’re in the bed with your child, and you get up and use the bathroom,” Sheffield told Firstcoastnews.com, “is there enough time for someone to come to the house and snatch the child out of the bed and disappear without you getting back to the bed in time? No!”
In related news, Joshua Duckett, the father of missing Leesburg toddler Trenton Duckett, and George Anthony, grandfather of child murder victim Caylee Anthony, have both traveled to Putnam County to show their support for Haleigh’s family. In addition, celebrity bounty hunter Leonard Padilla is in the area, assisting in the search. Padilla is offering a no-questions-asked $25,000 reward to anyone who returns Haleigh before midnight on Saturday.

People often say “bad” things when upset with their children. The problem with this is, Misty is not their Mom and HaLeigh is missing. Why saw that about a missing child? Yes, I do believe that more was said, that we did not hear.
M2C - point taken BUT if my child was missing a statement like that would be the FURTHEST from my mind. I just think we were seeing a TRUE snapshot of the REAL Misty and Ron because they had no idea they were on tape. In their jailhouse calls, during interviews…we saw what they wanted and want us to see…they had NO idea they were being taped and I truly believe this was the REAL them and their TRUE feelings and emotions.
We’ve all made statements in the heat of the moment but this was a relaxed setting…no reason to make derrogatory statements….I think those were her TRUE feelings but again, that is JMO…not worth DOO DOO! LOL

In the last report that you posted CathyJo, it is stated that C and M got there from Georgia that day. In other reports it’s said that C was at home and certainly that M was too.
So I am very confused about the confusion about where C and M were that night of Haleigh’s disappearance.

In the video clip, I heard Misty say: “…and my 17th birthday, was Haleigh.” And then some cussing. She paused after the word birthday, which gave the statement a sinister feel, imo. It was not a case of redacting either; the video flowed too smoothly for anything to have been cut out of the audio. Anyone who viewed it differently, please correct me on this.
My biggest problem from the beginning has been with Ron leaving the kids with Misty, especially that night when she said she didn’t want to babysit. I began wondering if there were other nights she didn’t want to babysit, and the tape shows that YES, there was at least one other time when she had to sit with the kids when she didn’t want to.
I never once left my child with a person who did not want to sit with her. Not one time.
Misty not wanting to be the babysitter is, imo, very important. It might say a lot about how she might have treated the kids, ya know? I mean, if she resented the kids because she felt tied down as babysitter?
OJ’s - how would they know they were being recorded when this was done by the UC? They had no idea he was a UC or that they were being taped! THAT was the REAL Ron and Misty IMO….this wasn’t an interview…this wasn’t a jailhouse tape…this was a secret recording by a UC…has NOTHING to do with sunshine law in Florida….It DOES have to do with Ron and Misty showing their true colors! BLACK…same color as their heart and soul IMO.
Cathartic, yes she says it, and that’s why I was saying when it was first released that we had no idea why the subject came up between her and the UC. Yes, it could be less harming in its entirety.
cathartic…and I would have to wonder if ALL those calls from Ron to Misty that night were because he was worried about his kids or because he wanted to know where his woman was and what she was doing (or who she was doing as the case may be).

If R sat there and cried and tore his hair out over the disappearance of Haleigh - on a call from jail people would scream that he was putting on a show! Really there is no way for him to satisfy people.
And M probably was dumb enough not to know her calls were being taped or mad enough not to care. She is very immature and “me,me, me.”
So I don’t expect anything else from her.

JB, I am a little unclear about what is released under the Sunshine Law. I believe it may only be “discovery” - which is what the state intends to use in the case. Because when the state hands “discovery” to the defense, that is when the Sunshine Law kicks in (I believe).
I don’t know if they have to or are prevented from releasing anything else. Like stuff that is not pertinent to their case.
Right now the only charges/cases that are being prosecuted are the drug charges.
So whatever parts of the UC videos and Jail calls that the state may use are “discovery,” given to the defense and therefore eligible for the media to ask for copies.
Can we get an expert on the Sunshine Law in here?

M2C - I thought someone explained the whole Sunshine Law thing during the Casey case….something about ALL the videos in jail basically belong to the public….that any media outlet or person can request them….now, normally people and the media could care less about all these jailhouse calls…BUT, in this case there is a great deal of interest.
Just like in the Casey docs, LE will redact names, addresses and certain information….not sure what the rules are about that but I guess it is left to their judgement what should be released. It is very confusing. But like I said before, I don’t put a lot of faith into these jailhouse calls since they all are getting a healthy dose of jailhouse religion and can carefully craft their conversations. True, they may slip up but I don’t think for a minute you’ll get a TRUE picture of who these people are or what they are about. Now the UC video, I think that speaks VOLUMES!
I guess if LE deems something that is said on the tape to be of evidenciary value, incriminates someone else or gives personal information like phone numbers, addresses, names, etc., then perhaps they redact that to protect both the people and the possible evidence.

Cathartic - That’s true about what we perceive as M’s attitude about babysitting. I mentioned that long ago. That I truly doubted she “loved it” even though she may have fooled some people into thinking she did (Like R and his mom and gma). Her goal was to snag R; get married, etc.

One of my theories is that Misty herself hurt Haleigh; possibly discipline gone wrong, if not deliberately.
Consider her mood that night: She had just come off a weekend binge, had been arguing with Ronald which is the reason she went on the binge in the first place, and the argument could easily have continued into Monday. Misty was tired and stressed, and maybe angry. She didn’t want to sit with the kids but had to anyway.
Haleigh could have done something that Misty didn’t like. Maybe she refused to go to bed. Maybe she wet the bed. In situations where an adult is emotionally and/or physically exhausted, it’s very easy for them to lose their temper. A slap might be harder than usual, or become a punch, or a kick….
Misty’s remark about her 17th birthday fits right in with her attitude toward babysitting in general, and that attitude alone is reason enough to never leave kids in her care.

But the other possibility about her comment about babysitting Haleigh on her birthday might indicate that she was mad at R because of it. Doesn’t mean she might not resent Haleigh, too. But it had to be R who (a) did not take the night off work to take her out or (b) did not tell her “hey, I’ll go to work and get a baby sitter and you can go out and party!” That doesn’t make sense for a guy to do either. So we really don’t know what all is involved in why that happened or what M really feels about it.

M2c, it’s just a theory I had at one time but I am now leaning more toward Misty left the MH that night and was not an eyewitness to what happened. I believe she is withholding information that might be helpful to the investigation. I have other theories that have her not directly involved but covering up for someone.

I saw an article about body language after Misty took the ld and this person said,when she was hypnotized (but faked it)that she could see that misty truly showed fear on her face when she was asked about the door,I dunno but thought i’d throw it out there!
THe first time, LP said she told Chelsea she saw Joe in the doorway. The second time he said Misty had told Chelsea she saw Joe “in the doorway with the child.”
And LP claims she told LE that. Not sure how to read that remark, but I think he is saying Chelsea told him Misty had told LE that.

Several in that family have pointed to Joe so it looks as if none of them would have a problem pointing the investigation toward Joe. If he was there that night Misty might have withheld that info for whatever reason, but it is not likely she would continue withholding it now. She wants out of jail too bad.

I suppose she could have been partying with Joe and passed out, and Joe took Haleigh. She may have been scared to tell Ronald that Joe was over there that night. I think she is scared of Ronald, but she really thinks she loves him, too. This would go with the scratched van, and it being moved, and Cousin Joe being missing in the middle of the night story.
Remember, Cobra said that misty claimed that she was scared to be alone with Joe, but that was who Misty was hanging around with in the days prior to Haleigh’s disappearance. If Joe did this, Misty allowed it, IMO.
I was just going to say the same thing Karon just said, why would she keep quiet just for her cousin in something as serious as this when everyone is suspicious of her? I think he and Tommy have something to do with it,and either she was a part in some way or she passed out and they took matters into their own hands and that is why she doesn’t really know for certain.

Karon, I agree. I doubt Joe took Haleigh but if he did either Misty allowed it or did not try to stop it. Could be he threatened her, but more likely she feared what Ronald would do to her if he found out Joe had been in the MH.
Misty did make some comments early on regarding Cousin Joe but I think that was all designed to point LE away from herself. I have never heard her say she had seen Joe “in the doorway” or “in the doorway with the child.”
With Ron in jail and Misty wanting so desperately to get out, I do not see her withholding information about Joe at this stage, unless it might implicate her as well.
When you listen to LP on NG, the subject is discussed twice on the show. The first time he says in the doorway, the second time he says in the doorway with the child.

They really need for one of them to finally fess up on where they put Haleigh….That is going to be so much evidence in itself….However, CJ has now lawyered up, or so i heard…..and won’t talk. Anyway, someone would have to say they actually saw this person take the child, beyond a resonable doubt….what was driven, etc…. and some more specific facts….and it wouldn’t hurt to have someone else back up her story…But, that would finally be enough to that person…Then, tactics, etc….would probably provide a confession, but not on just himself, but the others….he will blame them, they will blame him, etc…..but it won’t matter….at that point, all have made some type of confessions/statements as to the happens revolving a missing child, when at first she was reported “abducted”….and enough then to arrest them all….A body when then seal their fate to prison or death, then, forever.

All along I have been saying it is not a coincidence that Cousin Joe who lives in Tennessee, and Timmy who lives in Mass., all of a sudden are “visiting Misty and Ron”…Then they vanish Magically, poof, in the night…2 days later: HALEIGH SIGHTING IN TENNESSEE, W/A MAN, RED SUV, LITTLE GIRL matching Haleighs description; Also, of relevance, what about the so called fight w/ron and cousin joe over a gun? And again I DONT THINK ITS A COINCIDENCE THAT THE NEXT HALEIGH SIGHTING WAS IN KENTUCKY WITH A MAN MATCHING JOHNNY SHEFFIELD; 3 SIGHTINGS TOTAL IN KENTUCKY…then, in Sept 09, HALEIGH SIGHTING IN ABINGTON MASS, EXACTLY WHERE tIMMY AND CHELSEA CROSLIN LIVE….And how is it that Johnny Sheffield relocated to Kentucky, and within that same week: the haleigh sighting I mentioned above; Im still standing firm on my theory, even tho its a stretch, but the sheffields and croslins are in cahoots. {and I do believe Misty is not involved} I think she is just scared and cannot remember accurately cuz she was loaded, and was afraid to tell Ron the truth, that she was passed out loaded after doing more pills. I will be shocked if they find Haleigh’s body in Florida. These people know how to get rid of a body in Florida, especially, a small child. Cobra has said they, probably, won’t find a body. There are too many alligators and too many swamps filled with alligators.
I don’t believe Chelsea’s story. I could tell dad was getting worried about who Misty would throw under the bus, next. So they threw CJ under the bus, because they wanted to save TC’s skin, and, maybe Timmy’s. CJ may have done it, but I don’t believe Misty would have gone thru all of this for a yr for him.
I still believe Haleigh is alive so I don’t believe this Joe story. However, if there is truth to this story I hope they prove it and give this family closure.

Timmy didn’t move to Mass until well after Haleigh’s disappearance. I do agree with you that LE has not ever completely cleared anyone, and they know alot more than they tell us.
Misty and Ron know alot more than they are telling. They have lied, repeatedly, for a year. If they weren’t hiding something, there wouldn’t be any need to lie, repeatedly. I have never claimed to know who did this, or if Haleigh is alive or not. There are so many angles to this case, and we don’t have all the facts. I do think this case is about to break wide open, because there are too many people under too much pressure. That is just the way LE wants it, and they waited until they got all of them right where they want them. IMO
I see it like this. The person is first and for most a predator. Whether it is through Drugs, becoming a teacher, coach, which ever avenue one thing consistent about Predators is that they get close to children, particularly in a position of trust. In order for drugs to be the answer they have to be the cause which in my opinion is the wrong way to look at it. There is no conclusive evidence that says drugs is the avenue to finding this child. With that said IMHO LE should apply all energy evenly at all possibilities even those not drug affiliated. I don’t believe LE has done that, I think they have applied the majority of time on Misty and this drug link and the minority of the time on other possibilities. With that they claim they are not tunnel visioned because they say “we look at others” I would gamble they have spent most energy on Misty. That is Tunnel vision to me, tunnel vision to me is when one specific source gobbles up the majority of time and effort, perhaps not all but most. IMHO they have a responsibility to this child to apply the same same across the board just in case they are wrong, just in case she is alive, what if they are over looking her? It is not their place to decide what to do based on what they believe. IMHO it is their responsibility to Haleigh and her families to search all possibilities with the same dedication and resources, even the last one they would think is responsible.

I have heard the red truck info but I think I heard it here and didn’t see it verified anywhere.
The dog did lose the scent by the railroad tracks but I don’t know if that was Haleigh’s scent or Misty’s. I know dogs were used to track both.
As I recall footprints were both Misty’s and Haleigh’s and led to some creek or stream, but it was noted by some in the family that Misty had been known to walk with Haleigh in that area.
I assume if anything was determined from the scent searches or the footprint searches, it is evidence that has not been released.
I miss Cobra on this case. He knew the beginning of this case frontwards and backwards, and all the people involved.

DustyRose, I agree LE has focused on Misty but I am not sure they have spent an excessive amount of time on the possibility of drugs being involved in Haleigh’s disappearance.
The reality is that Ron and Misty were both using drugs at the time Haleigh went missing; it is obvious that one or both of them was high during several media interviews from the beginning.
If either or both were using drugs, there were likely drugs in the home. Because Ronald and Misty were into the drug scene, LE would be lax to not investigate the possibility that drugs played a part in Haleigh’s disappearance. But the fact that they are doing that does not mean they are not investigating other theories.

I am wondering if Timmy isn’t involved as well….Joe was at their house that night and Chelsea could be covering for her husband….What if Joe & Timmy were just the “re-locators” if you will? Is it possible that they are the ones who showed up to hide Haleigh?
I think Misty may have held back till now due to her own involvement and/or protecting Timmy, her favorite brother.
Misty did call Timmy prior to 911, right? THat was verified, I’m thinking.
I am also starting to think that maybe Misty had some people over, say Timmy, Joe, TOmmy…maybe a few others. While they were there they could have slipped Misty a mickey and came back after she had passed out. Maybe that’s why they haven’t been sure about who did what? All parties had DNA traces there cause they had partied there that night. (Hair, fingerprints)
Or they were called after what ever happened to Haleigh, by Misty in a panic and they rushed over to help her hide the “evidence” and concoctted the “story”.
This could also explain why Joe left immediately and Timmy not long after…..JMO

I had 4 “independent and unbiased” people look at it in big screen, watched 3 times, and ALL of them said they saw a pill, they even named the pill…CathyJo63….you get the prize! It’s a Loritab. Most likely a 10 as most users refuse any other mg. The people I had view it don’t follow this case and have no vested interest in their answers. The difinative reason was at a certain point what is sticking out from between his lips is clearly: White, Oblong, and SHort enough to rest between his lips without being between his teeth and yet only poke out a few centimeters. I’ll post the exact timeframe on this in my next post.
Yes, Karon…I think everone who is proven to have known and lied for so long will have charges against them….maybe not only Croslins.
I am also thinking this may be why the “fake search” was unimportant to LE….They had already figured all of this out and have just been waiting for the “crew” to mess up enough to get “squeezed”. Maybe.
As per pill slip video….at 1:22 the light flashes on Ron’s face and if you pause it at that precise spot, you’ll see the white, oblong, short thingy.
Maybe, Misty told them, as soon as she was put in jail, and Chelsea verified what she said. CJ could be one of the arrests mentioned by LE.
Why did Ron help stage the scene on the 9-1-1 tape? Why was Ron telling Misty what to say?
There are so many unanswered questions.
I could see the pill clearly on the NG tape. It was definitely a white pill. On one tape I watched, he had a whole handful of those white pills.

I believe a woman was in there helping clean up that house before LE got there. The made up bed, the dirty clothes picked up out of the floor and put in the dryer shows they had help. Were they all in there getting rid of drugs? Is that what they are hiding?
Misty said she saw people in the house. Could that have been Timmy, Tommy, Joe and one of the wives?
My head is spinning with all these questions.

HGM: Do they mention Ronald? I still believe he knew more than he was telling. Did all those people have so much on Ron about his drug trading that he decided to bide his time and kill the man himself, rather than let LE in on anything?
SOmething just hit me….What if Haleigh really went missing from the yard or earlier, say around 8:00 pm when Misty & Ron DID actually talk on the phone it was Misty either saying Haleigh was already missing or that something was wrong with her. That could explain Ron’s furios dialing of 20, 30 , or 90 calls that went unanswered. When Ron finally spoke to Tommmy, he was told that Haleigh had passed and nothing could be done for her. Ron then told them to “clean it up” ie hide her remains. That could explain why he casually strolled home instead of rushing right there and stopping by the store with video shows (supposedly) that he was not panicked or rushing as alibi. Misty called Timmy, he and Joe showed up, maybe TC too and they “handled” things….That’s why Misty doesn’t know where Haleigh actually is….they (none of the guys) ever wanted her to know because they knew she was the weakest link. That also explains the ratgate incident and the fight. Ron may have told the Croslins or one of them that if Misty ever cracked, he’s gonna kill her. That’s why the panic to get her out of there. Maybe Misty was unaware of this threat so she wanted to stay. Possible she knew the threat but wanted to protect brothers/family members.
I will check that out on you tube. This is quite a mess and quite a crew.
It’s really all starting to add up for me….
Marriage was to keep Misty happy & quiet of what she does know about Ron & co or Haleigh’s accident/murder but only if Ronald could somehow be held accountable. (Drugs or accidental homicide)
I have a hard time seeing Misty as protecting Joe…she’s already “fingered him”. Someone else, closer is also involved. Herself, Ron,Timmy, and/or Tommy. As for TC, she’s also “fingered him” already, so it leaves her, Ron, and/or Timmy.

I think that comes closer to what happened. We don’t know if Haleigh made it in that night. Misty may have been so tired that she went to sleep and didn’t realize Haleigh didn’t come in. I think the overdose theory and all of them covering up makes alot of sense, or that may have been the story they told Ron so he would feel responsible for her death too. If Misty had CJ over there that night, and he threatened Misty and took Haleigh, she may have made up the story that Haleigh got into Ron’s drugs. Because she didn’t want Ron to know about CJ being over there that night. Something like that had to happen to get Ron to go along and not kill all of them.
I can imagin 3 or 4 people furiously rushing around. Hiding dirty clothes (possibly destroying valuable DNA or microscopic evidence by mixing the item(s) with other dirty clothes), making the bed….It was a mistake. THey were in a hurry and didn’t think about it being made. Once the sheet was changed (not sure why I feel I know this but I do feel that it was changed) whoever was cleaning up in the bedroom messed up and made the bed or they/Misty messed up by not laying down and rolling around in it for a few, muss it up some. I’m sure there is more types of stuff that was done to “clean up” prior to Ron’s arrival home and/or calling 911. That was the most hinky thing to me….Why exactly as Ron arrives home? Why not sooner? If it WAS planned, they messed that up BIG TIME!
Misty saying, “If someone comes in and puts a gun in your mouth and tells you not to tell.” Then she shakes her head wide-eyed and says,”Nuhuh.” I think that may have happened, and Misty and Tommy, and Timmy made up the overdose story so Ron would go along. Misty was scared for Ron to find out she had her cousin over after Ron had had that fight with him. Misty did mention her cousin and Tommy several times, but, if she had been serious she would have told enough details for LE to get the proof they needed.
I’ve always thought that was why the bed was made….the bedding had been changed and since most people completely make a bed, they just forgot to muss it up some or ran out of time.
I think you could be right about Misty lying to include Ron. I also wonder if Ron told Misty it was ok to give Haleigh some cold medicine or other, maybe had done so in the past with ok results but this time it was too much. That could explain why he is involved. If it was other than a child’s substance, he knew he would be held responsible. Also, could be like you’ve said, that he ws told she got one of his pills and he felt he would take the fall for it.
If Misty thinks CJ is a pedo and she still had him over….makes me sick to think what she might have allowed him to do to serve her own purposes. We’d all probably be amazed at the “chicks” who leave kids unattended with males or adults of questionable character in order to get high or laid. There were issues about concerns that Haleigh was being sexually molested. Claims of inappropriate behaviors for a child her age. (They have been described to me but I don’t want to say as I have no verified proof) What if whomever hurt/killed Haleigh had been abusing her for months and worried she’d tell or killed her during the abuse? If what I was told is true, those actions that were supposedly witnessed, scream sexual abuse victim. Not saying I know it to be true, just addind it to discuss the issue of possible ongoing abuse a motive. I’m not saying Ronald abused her, more likely Timmy, Tommy, CJ, or other Croslin relative….

What’s bothering me is….why point the finger at them at all? Is it because she felt she could put it all off on them without implicating herself? You’d think she would have pointed in just about any other direction then them, if she wa afraid of either of them.
I am now wondering if she made that “gun in your mouth” statement to throw us off, make us think she’d been strongarmed when she really hadn’t been? I don’t know…It’s all so confusing.
Misty could have been scared of CJ and Ron for different reasons.
I can’t quite see Tommy being violent, somehow. We don’t know about Cousin Joe. Ron making all those calls that night shows he knew something was up.

People on drugs do crazy, irresponsible things, and Misty did resent Haleigh. She would have been tired that night and may have not cared what they did with Haleigh. I always thought she would have had to have had some drugs that night because she wouldn’t have been able to go cold turkey from the binge she had been on.

a comment i have made in the past about chelsea is, i always get the impression, she thinks of herself as misty’s second mom. and i have always hoped she didn’t really help out misty with the pregnancy test if that nay nay story is true.
hgm reminded us of early concerns of possible sexual abuse. you named possible men. .i am not saying this happened, but, women abuse children all by themselves sometimes, m. huckabee for example. or of course, helping men in various ways from actively participating to looking the other way or including leaving the child with someone they should not. Hey m2c, by now I am sure you have heard what LP said Chelsea said on NG. If Misty said this to Chelsea I think Misty would have told LE this along time ago. Misty has not had any problems pointing fingers at Joe Overstreet since the beginning. LP said that Joe did not leave in a hurry. He was passing out fliers of Haleigh then called his gf Jennifer to come pick him up to go back to Antioch,Tennessee. It was Timmy and Chelseas van that was damaged on the night Haleigh vanished. We also learned that Misty made a call to Timmy prior to the 911 call. I wonder how much time lapsed between these calls? Misty made a statement after it was released that detectives were interrogating Timmy and Chelsea in Mass. Misty said Timmy did not have nothing to do with Haleighs disappearance and Timmy was Rons favorite Croslin family memeber. I am not saying that Joe did not help, but it is very possible that Timmy Croslin could definitely be involved and Chelsea needs to cover for her husband.

Timmy could be involved in helping Misty with whatever happened the night Haleigh vanished. Chelsea is Timmys wife she is not going to implicate him. Even she would point fingers to cousin Joe to be the one responsible.
I need to go back and look at Nancy Grace transcripts. It is there where Ron is on her show and a caller calls in and asks about the cousin being there that night. The camera was on Ron and he became agitated and you could hear him state the cousin was not there that night. He was very adamant. I always wondered how he could be so adamant if he was at work. He would not have known. Misty telling him that the cousin was not there that night is hearsay;not fact. Joe could have went with Timmy to help, but I am not so sure about that. Misty would have told out right just to get LE off her back if it were true. Whoever is involved Misty wants to protect.
CJ was not brought up last night on the show. CJ did say on the Levi Page show a couple weeks ago that he and Ron were never really friends. CJ also said he was friends with the Sheffields.

Ms.P you are correct Misty and CJ were not friends at that time. I mentioned yesterday what if Misty was set up when she was buying/selling drugs and got robbed. LE had Mistys phone from then and I am sure they have the new one from the drug sting. Any phone messages or texts along with certain phone numbers could be valuable information for them. There is no telling what they got off Mistys phone. It was told to the public that there were issues with Mistys phone the night Haleigh vanished, but they could of still got some info from that night that they did not release.

Hi all - I am assuming CJ is cousin Joe (as in Misty’s cousin on Mom? Dad?’s side - not important I am just courious). MOO, I know you can’t say more but I am so confused. After reading your posts last night I would have been certain CJ was the guilty one. I have to say that for the first time, I got goose bumps reading Hollys Gmom’s 4:16 AM post. I usually don’t post (unless I am ready to burst) but I read everything faithfully. Sometimes I lose sight of the horrible reality of the situation and get caught up in the theories, etc… I really hope the truth comes out and if she is gone, I pray she didn’t suffer. CJ (Charles Jones) was a latecomer to this case. First I heard of him was the road rage incident. Before and since then we’ve always called cousin Joe just “Joe” or “cousin Joe” or his full name Joe Overstreet. So suddenly calling him CJ is SO confusing!!
I don’t know how that got so mixed up this late in the game.

I personally do not know if the a/c guy is related to Ronald. I get where you coming from now on CJ being mentioned. I also was wondering how he was thrown in the mix. As far as which cousin Ron may of thought of I am not sure, but at the time the media was only speaking of Joe Overstreet and TN commented on him that she did not know him and molesters don’t wear signs for us all to see.Which she was right about that. I only assumed that this is who the caller was referring to due to media output and even if Ronald forbidded him to not be in his home does not mean Misty upheld his wishes. Therefore Ronald could not positively say that he was not there that night and stress that at fact. Why he did is puzzling to me.

i had remembered a video of misty saying she called her mother and timmy that night because she was scared. i went back and reviewed videos over and over and could not find it again. so i either remembered it wrong or it was taken down.
Okay, so I’ve just read the Art Harris article about Cousin Joe holding Haleigh at the door, and Misty woke up and saw them:

This is very believable to me, but so is the theory where Haleigh takes pills, and OD’s.

The family of a little Florida girl who apparently vanished while she was sleeping is afraid she was taken by a pedophile cousin.

Shockwave where did you hear Chelsea telling the story about Joe standing over her and got scared? It is my belief if this was the person who did this to Haleigh Misty would have already spilled the beans on him and he would be in jail trying to prove his innocence. Why is Chelsea saying all of this NOW after it has been over a year? Seems a little odd to me. Did she tell this to the detectives when they went to Mass to interrogate them? It seems to me alot of scrambling going on here. Where I could believe he helped to some degree. I just am not so sure about this story.

Then again, when you go back to believing that Tommy may know something, you might believe that Misty was threatened by her own family to keep quiet, and not the Cummings. The article is SO poorly written that I can’t understand it. In one place it sounds like Chelsea told about Joe way back in the beginning, in another place it seems she’s saying that’s a lie, and later it seems she recently called LE to tell them about Joe with Haleigh standing over M and LE blew her off.

I thought it was reported that the FBI talked to Joe and he was even given a poly. I find it hard to believe the story they are pitching out there. Timmy on the other hand seems to be on my radar and has been for some time now. He is never on any video( always his wife) never shown at a vigil, Until recently we never even heard his voice. Joe is unfamiliar with the area and remember this is at night in the dark.
The cops even had a hard time finding the MH,after the 911 call. Now they are accusing this cousin of being a SO and that he was at the MH. But if he is all that why was he living with you while visiting( TIMMY AND CHELSEA HAD 2 LITTLE GIRLS THEN). This is BS IMO

We were using CJ for Cousin Joe last night. We could just use Joe. I have never commented on the Charles Jones episode, that much. That was only a side show, to me, and the truth couldn’t be told on either part, as far as I was concerned. It was just too much testosterone, and too little brains.

One of the reasons Chelsea gave for their moving was because they wanted to protect their girls and they thought it was unsafe now that Haleigh was gone.
Why would you let a cousin that you and Misty have accused of terrible things stay with you in a MH with your 2 little girls? This in my opinion proves they are lying and we have to ask to protect who? There were only two others in Timmys MH and the other was pregnant. jmo

I am thinking that Timmy and Tommy helped Misty out with her problem. Detectives did go to Tennessee and interrogate Joe after they went ot Mass to interrogate Chelsea and Timmy.I am not sure about the poly. This is not the first time they have interrogated Joe Overstreet.

I think the family is getting worried about who Misty is going to throw under the bus, next, so they are saying, “Here’s Cousin Joe.” There are so many possibilities, but I think we will know soon. Things are beginning to break—-too much pressure on all parties.

Remember what profilers say to look for Someone who acts different than usual, moves away,etc. Tommy and especially Timmy very rarely made any comments( their wives did) why is that? Timmy moves away ( I belive they would have sooner but they had to sell their mh or wait till the lease was up). He offers Misty his tax return (who does that with 3 kids to support) and now its his wife making allegations against Joe again. Why didnt she tell Art Harris this before? She was always in contact with him over everything else? BS BS JMO

I think Chelsea may be covering for her husband, Timmy. If this is true that means Chelsea has known all this time what happened to Haleigh and I am sure there will be charges brought against her as well. Anyone with knowledge of Haleighs disappearance will be in trouble with LE.
There have been excuses for why LE investigated Timmy and Chelsea. One was because of a sighting that we know was checked out and proved wrong. So why talk to them?
Maybe because they knew it wasnt Joe who moved the van? And after that investigation who tells the media what was going on? Chelsea, not Timmy.jmo

You know Tobias there was another statement made last night on Nancy Grace by Ronalds Lawyer. He said that Ron wants to know what is going on with Haleighs case. Only normal for hi, to want to know, but LE won’t inform him of what is happening. Ron was released as a suspect on August 17th,2009 and he is Haleighs father. Why will they not tell him anything going on in Haleighs case? Ron is asking if Misty is talking. That could only mean two reasons; One he hopes so that his bond can be reduced to get out of jail or he’s worried if she is talking. I hope he is not involved.
And remember in one of his calls to Misty and Tommy he says the kids wont be coming when he comes to visit and dont tell anyone because he doesnt want the media to know he is coming.
What does he have to hide? Is he afraid someone may recognize him on TV? He isnt shy the guy nearly went to prison in VA. as he has said in the calls. jmo

Cathy, Thats just what I was thinking. She has 3 meals a day and a place to sleep. I can see some money used for phone calls but not for her selfish need of extra food. Not in this economy with 3 kids to take care of. jmo
I don’t think Timmy has anything to hide… besides the obvious, his children. I don’t feel negative vibes when he says that he does not want cameras around. Who would in their right mind want their children plastered all over the place? I think Timmy is trying his best to be a brother to both monkeys, and a son to his hopped up parents. But most of all I believe he is thinking of his wife and children, trying to protect them.
I don’t know that it was his entire tax money. I am not sure. I think he offered to keep minutes on he and his parents phone so she and Tommy could speak to them. He also offered to put money in her commisary, but LP did that instead. Misty was not satisfied that only LP put the 100.00 in. She expected it also from her dad and Timmy as well.

Timmy was not giving up his taxes to Misty, he told her even his entire check would Not be enough for her bail. He was making money available for her commissary and minutes for calls… that’s how I remember it!!
Does anyone else get the feeling that maybe Misty is clingy with her parents is because she feels they will eventually leave and never come back to visit her or send her money when she goes to prison? does anyone else remember the msnbc interview where the reporter said she interviewed joe overstreet and he said he was not in palatka for 3 weeks before haleigh went missing? (00:30) i always assumed it was most likely joe lying to the reporter. or she reported incorrectly. do we know for a fact joe was in town at the time h.c. went missing. because i thought it has also been reported he left 2 days later? also on the video misty says something like she (misty) had let police know he (joe) had visited just before all this. You could be right BAC. LE must be doing something though to have Chelsea coming out with this info on cousin Joe. LP is the one who made the statement that something happened to Haleigh while with Misty and she called on Timmy and Tommy for help. Then last night he dropped that bomb about Misty telling Chelsea that she woke up and saw cousin Joe holding Haleigh in the doorway where the door was propped open. Why did they not tell LE this before when they told them about the fight over the gun and Misty saying Joe molested her?
Tobias, I think Misty is clingy because she knows that her parents are in the know of that night. And she knows that they will talk to save their own asses. She wants to be the little baby-girl, sissy and by doing so, they will protect her… NOT!!

looking for justice: If I remember correctly, LE tracked Joe down in Tennessee very shortly after he went there. FBI in fact interviewed him. And said they were satisfied he had nothing to do with it! Really. Way back at the beginning. I couldn’t believe it myself because even then we knew he was an RSO, and Chelsea or someone had said they found him sleeping in his clothes that next morning.
But either LE really was satisfied or they were putting up a smoke screen until they could prove something.
But the stuff about Joe that is being said now was said then EXCEPT for what M is supposed to have told Chelsea about waking up and seeing Joe there.
As far as Timmy trying to stay out of the public eye, I would too. I don’t blame him. (And yes it’s possible he’s afraid of being recognized for some crime or something but still I don’t like to jump to conclusions especially the worst possible interpretation).
I think both Lindsy and Chelsea are better speakers then their husbands, too. And I remember reading that Timmy and Chelsea had already planned to move to Mass BEFORE Haleigh went missing. T and L got held up by something - possibly the investigation or T’s theft of the gun.
I would like to know when Joe left for sure because didnt Cobra say he talked with him down there? And if he did Cobra wasnt ther right away. jmo

Joe Overstreet is not on any SO list that I have seen. That was because Misty accused him of messing with her when she did the stress test. I havent seen any proof that he did. jmo

Well, whenever Joe left the area, I find it interesting that LE didn’t bother interviewing him until whenever it was he was in Tennessee!
That kind of thing has always been part of why I’ve been concerned about the competence/honesty of the investigation from the get-go. LE should have known the first day what kind of guy was sleeping on M’s brother’s sofa for pete’s sake.
Let’s not forget that the statement Cheslea supposedly made about Misty having seen Cousin Joe in the doorway was reported by LP, no by AH. AH might have written about it in an article on his site but it was LP on the NG show last night who made the statement. LP also said Chelsea told him that both she and Misty had told LE this. It was unclear to me whether they told LE long ago or just recently.
Two things that have bothered me all along are Cousin Joe and Chad Reynolds. I felt Joe was “cleared” too quickly in the beginning, and I was always wondering why the van had been moved from its original parking place. And I do not like that a RSO went missing around that time and has not been found, nor have his movements that evening able to be traced by anyone.
I don’t like Ronald. I feel he let his kids down in many ways and one is by not being more responsible about who he left to sit with them. I do not like parents who leave their kids in harm’s way and then when something happens they claim innocence because they weren’t home when it happened. However, I hope Ronald is not involved in Haleigh going missing for one reason: And that is Haleigh. She loved her daddy, I have no doubt of that.
If it is true that Cousin Joe has lawyered up, it could mean a new attempt might have been made to question him.
cathyjoe, thanks for the get well wish. I don’t have medical insurance (like 90% of the country) but I do have some nursing experience so I basically diagnosed myself and went to the streets to purchace antibiotics…illegal yes… necessary also yes. Believe me when I tell you its not just narcodics being bought on the streets. I don’t care what anyone says, I know what the doctor would prescribe, and I know where to find it underground…so to speak. Man, I hope I don’t have to deny this later! oh well just being honest! just for the record…I don’t purchase anything but antibiodics when I do as I am chemically dependent and don’t use them. man I hope this doesn’t bite me later. Then again, maybe some politician will read this , and use their power to make positive changes for me and the millions of others who must do what I am doing to stay healthy. I guess we’ll see.

Karon @ 11:30 am - That’s true about Charles Jones being a sideshow but there was a HUGE hullabaloo about the road rage incident here on BNN so he is well known. AND he was just interviewed on that Levi show recently (why I don’t know except that he IS a sideshow). Anyway, he’s still a known player. There is only one Joe in this mess so far that I know of. So that helps keep it simple and clear (to me).
