Autism Sunday 2010

Services in many nations will be held to mark the first major disability event in the calendar – Autism Sunday on 14th February. Autism campaigners have used the occasion to lobby and campaign on the issues concerned with autism and Asperger’s Syndrome around the world. They are also set to wear autism awareness ribbons on 14th February and organise awareness raising events from the United States of America to India.

Campaigners have written to world leaders including US President Barack Obama to mark Autism Sunday 2010, urging them to take action over autism and Asperger’s Syndrome.

Autism Sunday was founded in 2002 by British autism campaigners, Ivan and Charika Corea, parents of a teenager with autism It is now a huge event, marked in many countries all over the globe.

Dignitaries have sent messages of support for Autism Sunday 2010 including the British Prime Minister Gordon Brown and his opposite number, the Leader of the Opposition David Cameron.
