Shortly after the father of missing Satsuma, Fla. girl HaLeigh Cummings was arrested on drug charges, her mother, Crystal Sheffield was given full custody of her little brother, Ronald Cummings Jr.
On Wednesday, Ronald Cummings, along with his ex-wife Misty and her brother, and two others, were arrested for drug trafficking. If convicted as charged, FDLE officials say Misty could serve 74 years in state prison while Ronald could be sentenced to as much as 43 years behind bars.
The arrests took place after a month long sting that determined that Cummings and the others were illegally buying and selling prescription drugs. Although HaLeigh’s disappearance over a year ago and the recent arrests are totally unrelated, police are hopeful the arrests will help them solve the case of the missing girl.
An emergency hearing was held Thursday to determine who should obtain custody of HaLeigh’s little brother, Ronald Cummings, Jr. after the elder Cummings’ arrest, according to reports on News 4 Jax. Crystal Sheffield, the mother of both HaLeigh and Ronald Jr. was awarded custody of the boy, and was allowed to pick him up on Friday afternoon, according to the post made by Marie Griffis on her Facebook page.

HGM, I always liked blogging with you. I also liked researching some of the possible theories with you. Some people did not always agree with either of us but we never stooped to a true arguement with them. Everyone has an opinion whether anyone else agrees. M2C always agreed to disagree with me and even though sometimes it looked like we were not getting along it was just that, agreeing to disagree.
Without others who disagree there is no insight on different angles. I am happy when its not all one sided in a discussion.
One thing that bothers me is the discussion we had about drug testing. I am sure that right now someone at PDM bridge company has alot to explain to the corporate headquarters and hey there may be a job opening soon there lol.
ALso I can do a 180 because I’m still trying to be openminded. Yes, I get on a Ron is the devil tangent, but I can also see where Crystal has her faults too. Hopefully, nad especially since she has so many haters (family or otherwise) she will have to walk a chalk line because just any concerned citizen can make a child abuse report/allegation.
Gonna watch tv until I fall asleep….time out, I guess. LOL!

Crystal may not be the world’s best mom (and really how hard do you have to work to be considered a better parent than Ron) but I think that from the beginning very few people have been in favor of Ron keeping Jr after Haleigh went missing. Especially since he was choosing to stay with a key person in his daughter’s disappearance.
No doubt that Crystal was under the same kind of scrutiny as the Croslin/Cummings gang, yet she has still been able to keep a much lower profile (again, with someone connected to Ron or Misty arrested every other week, how hard is this really)
So far Crystal, over all, has shown a little more smarts than the other players. If I had to pick the smartest kid in the dumb kid class, it’d have to be Crystal. I won’t say that giving her custody is the best decision, but it’s the best one available right now.
I don’t think she’s doing better than Ron, she’s just doing better at not getting caught. Which in itself is better than Ron is doing. At least she shows that she can be cautious, even if she’s not quite being smart. I restate, I’m picking the smartest kid in the dumb kid class. Which really isn’t much.
Tobias…Unfortunately I think you are correct. I have had similar thoughts for the past 6 months about Haleigh. I hope we are wrong. I guess what I hope for, is a body. But that is probably impossible at this stage in this horrific story.
As to PDM in general, yes, there have been quite a few job openings there all of the sudden. They, of course, have no connection to anything since PDM’s standing policy is that you are not to discuss the Cummings case at PDM unless you want to lose your job.
As to how easy? 5 panel tinkle test at the local hospital and your in. Those are really only good for picking up pot since nearly everything else is out of your system 24-72 hours after you use.
It’s one of the most sought after jobs in Putnam county. Though I will add that after my husband worked there for a short time last year, he fondly compared it to standing in line in order to be beat in the face with a claw hammer.
Additionally, abuse of pills is so common in the construction industry that it’s cliche. and since you rarely catch someone abusing pills unless you can screen them while the drug is still in their system, it’s hard to screen for pills. Some scripts are out of your system in as little as 12 hours, some only take 5.
Also, when I was very young, there was once a person missing here for close to a year that was only found when road crews did their yearly dredge of the roadside ditches. He passed out walking home and fell into less than a foot of ditch water…and about two feet of muck. Even after extensive searches, it took a year to find him by complete accident. So when you hear that the swamp makes it hard to find a body, they mean it.
The thing I keep hoping is that IF she was dumped she was dumped in an area with a lot of peat. Things soak into peat quickly and peat preserves more than it destroys. With all the peat bogs around here, that’s very likely. So even if she was dumped, there’s still a good chance that she’ll find justice, as long as they can find her.
I wonder who the informant was in the sting.
Could it have been one of the ones in jail or possibly CJ? To gain the trust of this bunch in a moth they had to be someone they already knew or a local. Any guesses ? jmo
And how in the heck did NayNay manage to stay clear of all the actions going on. She had been hanging pretty close to Misty and Tommy recently. jmo
Crystal did get full custody of Jr. she had to prove she wasn’t on drugs or anything the judge made her take a drug test at the courthouse on Thursday and if everything came out clean witch it did she was to go pick up Jr. yesterday and she did at the courthouse.Ron’s mom tried to fight her at the courthouse it was a mess.Crystal isn’t on drugs becausze if she was the judge wouldn’t have let her have full custody of Jr. and her drug test wouldn’t have come back clean.So stop trash talking on Crystal she deserves a second chance.

I think Crystal deserves a chance even though I believe Ronald had nothing to do with Haleigh’s disappearance fact is the first family to look at would be the Croslin’s and he can’t risk them around he has to make better choices than that. I still believe Misty is innocent but she has her family around her, she has to get rid of them if she ever wants a life. Is it possible for these families to hire a private source to look into this case. Is there extra things available to sell? Sell everything except what is basically needed walk ride a bike to work. I put $50 a month in a education fund and it now pays for my daughter’s full tuition and all other education related expenses. I could of pulled it in a case of emergency this situation would qualify as emergency. I’m not sure what it would of been worth when they were 5-6 but it would of been something.

I am totally in agreement with Tobias and Boldone as to why Haleigh hasn’t been found. IMO, she will never be found. I am also very upset that Jr. was given to Crystal - who IMO, has probably been using since about the age of 12 in that Momma Marie had the crackhouse from way back. Crystal, to me, has always appeared to be on another planet and could not even squeeze out one tear about Haleigh missing nor hardly speak a sentence. Marie had to speak for her. Recidvism rate of drugs is very low -used to be about 2% recovery a lot less than alcohol addiction. IMO, with most all the Croslins, Cummings and sheffields engaged in criminal activity, drugs and the Lord know what else (no one working or any way productive), I would like for Jr. to go to someone off in another state away from all these family members. The only one who seemed sincere to me is Teresa who is actually articulate and must have a record of being the sole longtime breadwinner in this whole caboodle of relatives. It is apparent that she has had a big part in helping raise Ron’s children. I can feel her pain. And, yes, she should not be enabling Ron and no, I do not know them nor am I any one in FL’s relative. I am glad that MC RC and the others are in jail where they have belonged for quite some time.
Jennalu, child services will be watching Crystal and it would be too tramatic for Junior if they just up and put him with strangers. He has lost a sister and now his stupid dad has gotten into trouble. It is going to be really hard once he learns that Daddy wont be around for a long time or maybe never. He is where it is best for his long term recoup. I hope he gets the best help possible now and in the future to understand how to deal with all of this. jmo

The thing that we all need to keep in mind concerning Satsuma is that they seem to have their own brand of applying the laws. We can’t say for a fact that any of these people are going away for a long time. I believe Melee’s statement about all those convicted drug dealers being back on the street, there.
Tobias, after breaking it all down and doing some serious thinking, I think you are right. It would be very tramatic for JR to be placed with strangers. Crystal is the best choice at this time. I will say again however that I hope the court has a short leash on her in regards to drug testing, counseling, etc. It’s only fair that she get a chance to prove herself after all thats happened. Who knows, maybe she will rise above all the past issues and become one of the million or more recovering addicts out there and do right by her self and her children. I hope she can, but I know the fight and it’s not easy. She needs to separate herself from all the negative people (family included) and get into rehab if she is to succeed. God will guide her if she brings it to him in prayer. I am not trying to sound like a religious fanatic, in fact I don’t consider myself religious, but I am spiritual and it has turned my life around in a good way.

If you have not listened to this show, I think you will find it very interesting and most informative.
They discuss Ron’s actual punch in time at work that evening. May not be what we were led to believe some time ago.
They also mention they hope FOX shows all of the video from Geraldo’s interview with Ron. There is more to it!
Great guest panel including Pat Brown, Criminal Profiler.
They mention Ron is a cold blooded sociopath. I agree with them. I have read numerous articles about sociopaths (because of Casey Anthony) and I feel Ron fits the profile!

I’m still trying to figure out why the mother didn’t have custody of her son from the time the father married that crack head, Misty is guilty of this little baby disappearance and the bottom line is Crystal, Ron,and the whole family is screwed up. Why is it now she’s allowed custody of her son and not 1 year ago? I bet she doesn’t deserve custody of him but I guess in a room full of crack heads who else would be? she must be better to care for him than the state of FL. The sad part about this whole thing is the son is with a mother who was obviously not fit to be a parent in the first place, I hope with the lost of 1 child Mom will count her blessings and take good care of the child who’s with her. What a lost group of people and if the state of FL gave a damn they would have placed the child in their custody as oppose to. Giving him back to his Mom. I guess their waiting for him to show up missing or turn out a druggie as well. What a shame…

CC, They would not dare make any mistakes in a high profile case like this. All eyes are watching. Can you even imagine the damage it would cause this child if he were placed with a stranger right now? Do you think after his sister disappeared that he has been deaf to what is said about strangers taking her? He would be absolutely terrified with strangers. jmo
If Tommy knows anything I think he will be the first to talk. He has 3 kids and a wife. He also is only facing 3-5 years he can get that down to probation with the right info I am sure. The only one who wont talk is the person who has the most to lose(the one who hid or killed Haleigh) jmo
On levis show they talked about a bridge that ron told several of his girlfriends that is the place to get rid of someone. They cant remember the name of the bridge. I was reaserching in the beginning and came across Chads brothers death on the DunCreek bridge and for some reason I got the willies is this the bridge? Especially since he was alone in the middle of the road, at night and apparently was hit by a car. This all happened the jan. before Haleigh disappeared. jmo

Ron’s mother was not even at the courthouse during the hearing. This is a total lie.
Jeffrey Griffis age 29 died after being hit by a truck the next day. No one knows why he was on the bridge at night alone. Dun Creek bridge, supposedly a elderly man hit him. It always hit me as being rather fishy. His wife and he had a restraining order on Donald Sapp but after Jeffrey died the wife ends up living with Donald Sapp. This all happened on Jan. 7 2009 just 1 month before Haleigh disappeared.

Teresa stayed with Junior. There was no reason for Junior to be at the Courthouse.
I really have no idea why Teresa didn’t ask for custody herself. My GUESS is that the reason GGMS wanted Junior to stay with her is because that is where he had been living already for most of the past year. If he stayed there, he could continue in his current school in an environment in which he was familiar. (ie - no further uprooting for a young child). I’m sure if he stayed there, Teresa would also be able to help care for him. If he moved in with Teresa, he would be in a different town, which would require him to change schools, be uprooted, new bedroom, etc. Maybe Teresa doesn’t have the space in her home. Hard to say. We know that he already has a bedroom in Annette Syke’s home that DCF has approved.
That’s exactly right….they wanted GGMA to keep him because it looked better to the court. Already living there. School? I thought Jr wasn’t yet in school. or is it pre-k? Taking Jr from ALL of his family, especially his mother right now would be even MORE traumatic for him.. But of course, let’s forget about Jr & his feelings.
Crystal passed her drug screen, what bad thing else has she done? If she’s gotten that problem under control then why shouldn’t she have her son. His father screwed himself…

Wow. Believe it or not I just saw a news write up from 2007 that said a SO was living under that bridge at one time and the police knew about it and allowed him to live there because he was following the rules to stay away from areas with kids. He even had an ankle moniter on. lol jmo

Tobias, I found her arrests at the PCSO site. I thought this was her first offense, surprised to see 3 arrests in 2009, and her Jan 3 felony drug arrest.

IMHO No they don’t know who took Haleigh nor do they have any actual reliable leads. I don’t really care about the past mama’s alleged crack house etc, No one has lead a perfect life, I’m for today and hopefully Crystal will work with Ms.Neves. Jr needs his Mother his grandmothers and his father and hopefully they can find a safe and healthy way to balance things so Jr does not become collateral damage. IMHO the police have 2 most likely scenario’s either an accident happened and Misty is hiding something or she was honestly exhausted which a person would be after being up for 24 hrs, she is also a teenager who slept through the knock on the door Haleigh opened it and Misty slept right through it. That cannot be said to be her fault or something she would not do even if she had not been up for hours because cases show entire families sleeping through someone coming in and taking a child where no drugs were involved. There is the possibility Haleigh was sold I would disagree with that especially given this new case. Trading a child from my experience is out of desperation for funds to get drugs or pay them off. She;s the ring leader “allegedly” of a drug ring she can master mind all these people and drugs all the while not trading a child well according to the Police she does not need to trade a child she does great all on her own. There is the 1 million fluke this was a stranger, or there is the possibility that Haleigh witnessed something was subject to something perhaps not necessarily by Ronald or Misty but was taken from the home to kill & silence her. It could be there is closet sick perv in the midst no one suspects and he targeted Haleigh long before he took her. To place it on Misty is irresponsible at this point of what little evidence they have.

Sorry yes that was me and I do remember now. What is differnt about his pic? and booking details? Rons is differnt than the others.
Hope will be 19 in March. Less than a year since her 18th birthday, Putnam County has incarcerated her for the fifth time.
First time, her bond was posted less than an hour later.
Second time, she bonded out two days later, third time she bonded out 15 days later, earlier this month she bonded out within an hour and a half, but now she won’t be released unless $150,000.00 bond is posted.
What kind of life is that?
Five o’clock his pic is different. He’s smiling like Donna Brock, but looks more alert than she. His pupils are dilated.
Misty and Hank JR booking pics show them with heavy eye-lids, tired, but Ron appears energized.
Wonder if this David Cummings, arrested 04/19/09 is a relative of Ron’s because he resembles Ron and in his PCSO booking photo has such a big grin it looks like he’s about to burst out laughing.

At the end of this video, the reporter said that TES had to fire Donna Brock because she had a drug problem. Donna spent the money given to her, in regard to Misty, on drugs! I took it to mean that Donna was spending money on drugs instead of on Misty.

I am from Texas and live about 65 miles from Houston. Houston is our local TV station provider. Tim is featured in local searches on our local news often. He is highly regarded and has tremendous support in this area. Nothing like this has ever happened with his Texas supporters and volunteers.
Cindy Anthony was not very kind to Tim. Then there was the Misty mess. Now Donna Brock. I bet he regrets getting involved with these players in Florida.
To me, it is all so bizarre that he would step out of the realm of his search expertise. He has not a tremendous job in his Texas search efforts. This Florida stuff just seems so out of character for Tim.

Something is fishy. I read Donna is from North Carolina and has a condo in Orlando. Don’t know if that is true.

Yes, Five, I know there are a lot of folks that post here that do not like Tim Miller.
I have known of his organization from the inception. More importantly, when someone goes missing in the Houston and surrounding area and Tim is called in, the search efforts are hi-lited on our local news. So I have seen the awesome efforts put forth by him and volunteers (some I personally know) over a long period of time. Not just one or two cases.
Like I said, to me the Florida stuff is bizarre (Donna Brock/ Misty Cummings). Tim has not gone out of his realm of search expertise in Texas. Why would he hire Brock to work undercover for him (if that is true)? Just does not make sense to me!
I remember when his daughter went missing. When she was finally found, along with the other girl, in that field, it was a sad and shocking discovery for the community.

I do respect others opinions about Tim. I may not agree with some of them but everyone is entitled to his or her opinion.
There were some things done in Florida that I am thinking, “Whoa, Tim, what are you doing?”

Hi Justice: I have watched Tim Miller for a long time, and I think he is a man that is very dedicated to his work. He has a real heart for finding kids. He went thru losing a daughter, and he gets tempermental, at times. I believe his heart is in the right place. I think, we will understand his part in this Fl. mess, when it is all over. When he is able to explain the why’s of his involvement better, we will have a better picture.

I agree with you. In an article I just posted the Link to, Tim states (in the second article)his goal was to find Haleigh.
I will just wait to see what the facts are.
Tim and his group are good at finding adults in our area also. A few weeks ago, LE exhausted their efforts to find a rancher (northeast of Houston) who was on his horse and taken away by flood waters. They called in Texas Equusearch and Tim and his Texas volunteers found the man. It was on our local news and was very sad the condition he was found in.
My heart just broke for the man’s family. At least he was found though and the family could have closure.

junior has a right to be with his mother! no matter how much others love a child, the child has a right to be with their parent(s).
annette raised her children, teresa raised her children. and for juniors sake he should be raised by his mom. i hope if possible with the love and support of all his grandma’s.
some people have been posting with the intention of influencing people for or against ea parent. almost as if it is a popularity contest. some are telling the truth the best they know. but, i cannot tell what is what. so i keep going back to what i have seen with my own eyes. i have seen crystal very much as a human being, like the rest of us as having strengths and weaknesses. she certainly seems to have the ability to express kindness, compassion and love towards others. i can see she has the capacity to be a wonderful mom.
i pray crystal has her drug “problems” under control. and, i really hope those close to crystal are supporting her to have a drug free environment for herself and her children.
because, keeping her children safe, healthy and happy depends on it. also, because keeping her children, depends on it, and they need their mom!!!
i know crystal and her children need time to adjust and heal from everything they have been and are going through. i cannot even imagine what this year has been like for any of them. i will keep them in my prayers.

she got temporary custody. Crystal is a pill popper and she filed for emergency hearing the day Ron got arrested so she had plenty of time to get whatever out of her system. You can buy this stuff to drink to pass drug tests. It’s not hard. They should have done a hair follicle test, that is where the truth would lie.

I see Crystal as a person who expresses love, compassion, and kindness, as you do, and I agree her son Butterbean should be with her.
Teresa and Annette have raised their own families, and now it is time for them to step back and be supportive of Butterbean living with his mom and siblings.
Marie posted on her myspace that Butterbean was playing outside with the other children and his grandpa today.
I am happy for them, and I do not know them personally, am not related, but am very happy for Crystal and her mom, Butterbean, and the entire family.
If Teresa and Annette want to be involved in his life, seems all they need to do is communicate with Crystal, treat her with the kindness and respect she deserves, abide by her wishes, and they’ll be able to spend time with Butterbean.
Hope it isn’t true that Annette was aggressive towards Crystal at the hearing, but if so, I wouldn’t want Butterbean to spend time with Annette.
In a video I watched months ago, Crystal talked briefly about her vehicle being ‘blocked in’ when she went to visit the children, as though they were afraid she would race off with the children.
The way she described it, I could tell she had no intentions of doing any such thing and couldn’t understand why they behaved so strangely.
Crystal seems much too gentle, easy going, not a battler, to fight back against Annette/Ronald/Teresa, and Ronald’s sister, during those visits.
Ms. Peridot, maybe it’s time for Crystal to have those who were gone returned to her.
Butterbean’s back, maybe Haleigh will be back very soon, too.
Through all this, I’m sure her family has learned and grown a lot.
I think the future looks positive for them, and I feel that Teresa Neves will cooperate with Crystal in order to maintain her relationship with Butterbean, and that Annette Sykes might.

I agree that Crystal should ge this chance to turn her life around for the better and to prove, once & for all, that she can do it!
I can see GGMA trying to get physical with Crystal. She thinks “How dare you!”. Well, How dare she? If she even verbally threatened Crystal I hope she realizes that Crystal has every right to keep Jr FROM her & family, until a judge orders their rights to be recorded & enacted. Better play nice….or else.
Crystal, don’t be afraid anymore…They can’t bully you now. The law of the land is on your side, just do what you need to do & all will be fine. i agree with all your comments. and i know, this is going to be another huge adjustment for junior, but if all the adults in his life help him, maybe he will adjust all the sooner and better.

For those worried about Jr. being upset that Ron is not around, I doubt if he has even spent that much time with Jr. lately. He’s had one child “taken” yet he gets out and into wild car chases and runs around dealing drugs yet expects an old lady to raise his son! If I were Crystal I’d never let any of them around my child again. I just hope she is truly off drugs and stays off them.

Crystal should have had Haleigh and Ron Jr. all along. Haleigh would probably still be here. I have NEVER understood why people dogged on her so much. She is human. She made mistakes in her past. Who hasn’t? She seems to be making amends for her past. Why was Nancy Grace, without anything to go on, be so rude to her in interviews. Congratulations Crystal, but please don’t let Jr. down. He’s been through enough. Prayers sent up for Haleigh and those who love her.

Hello everyone. Just catching up this morning. I agree with all who believe Crystal deserves her second chance and the best choice at this time for jr. is to be with his mom. Praying for them all. HGM is right Crystal does not have to live in fear anymore. Perhaps Haleigh will be found soon and will be home with her mom as well.
Keep in mind that Crystal has a third child, a daughter almost two and her welfare and custody has never been an issue. Even though this has been a high profile case, there’s so much we don’t know. There won’t be any saints to come out of it that’s for sure. Felony drug arrests are what it’s about now. Not who’s sinned the least.

Sugar…Chloe’s welfare has very much been an issue. It was discovered that Crystal was using drugs while Chloe was in her womb….very sad. And, we know that at least her fiance was using crack. Crack is an awful drug and makes people do whacko things, including selling children.

I want the truth. Hair follicle drug testing weekly, for Crystal she’s earned that scrutiny while bearing children during the times she’s chosen to be a Mother. Mothers take care of their children, even when their not in their physical custody and presence.
Uprooting Jr. at this time in my opinion is a very bad idea. Living with the Cummings is all he’s ever known. Just another adult/adult conflict this child has been placed into. Ugh! When will the drama for him stop?
Who, blogger, internet poster, news agencies, LE, family members, over intrusive internet stalkers, DCF, Tim Miller and his croonies, private snake investigators and the publics eyes been watching, and keeping up with Baker County? No one has. Not even scannettes, as Bakers county doesn’t offer scanner radio signals in order to watch and listen 24/7 as done in Putnam County for 11 months and counting. Ugh!
Can’t be doin wrong, aren’t high profile, can run around with low profiles when vitually no one is lookin, watching or caring to make it their business to find out the comings and goings, deeds and actions of others.
The only people watched at nauseum is the Cummings and Croslins. I have no problem with the scrutiny on them, but it’s not all the truth, which is what I seek entirely to make my own opinions.

Please check out these foxpens in Ga. and Fla. I have heard fox hunters talk about nothing being found if someone is threw inside one they are all sizes an they will hardly be enough to find but it is worth a try. One woman was found inside one a month ago or so. I have seen what happens to 1400 pound cows in a few mins. inside one. God Bless and my Prayers are with you.
