I was recently introduced to Websafety in October and let me say, I'm wery impressed with there services. I have a child that is a freshman in high school this year and when it comes to her social activities like FaceBook and cellphone texting...I'm totally left in the dark. Now most readers would suggest why don't you talk to your child and have an open relationship where the two can talk about whats going on in her world. For any parent that has or had a teenager in high school, the above suggestion seems reasonable, but the reality is it doesn't work that way. We live in a different world today where teck rules.

What people have to understand with Websafety is the company is a work in progress and will continue to improve over time. All great companies we have to come to love and respect had to start from zero. It's very disappointing as a reader to listen to a writer like Simon who has totally put a negative spin on a company he has not thoroughly researched. Of course everything is a scheme to him. As a retired police officer, and U.S. Marine, I have the ability to reseach and evaluate any information on my own to come to a good conclusion. In other words, I don't need to listen to dumbasses like simon who's too lazy to get all the facts before posting garbage like this. This is one person I would not follow or put my life in his hands because he want take the time to get all the facts.

I guess 4Real thinks that the front-page article on WebSafety in last Wednesday's USA Today wasn't confirmed. Or, maybe he thinks that NCB didn't check it out as real before they featured it on their 5, 6 and 10 PM news casts Thursday night. If you want to know the truth, do your homework and www.LessStress4parents.com is a good place to start.

Does any other software have the Stop Texting while in a moving vehicle?

This feature alone is worth the try. Not only teenagers are at risk, but also adult drivers. I tried this feature of websafety, and I am impressed by it's effectivness. Eventough I get frustrated when wanting to send a text while at a stop sign. You do have the option to allow texting while riding as a passenger in a car.

Evaluate all the different benefits, before passing judgement.

I too have been searching for answer about WebSafety. Im a parent myself and I wouldnt trade the safety of my child for half-baked questionable companies. I checked their site and their services.. Im better off with NetNanny.. If you plan to subscribe to Websafety's service, do think again.

Found this blog, looking for comments on WebSafety. Wow, what a lot of wasted time and brain matter.
To the author: the story line about the sales pitch is more accurate than the facts about the product or a comparison to Netnanny. True, they're competing products but so is Windows 7 and Suse, Ford & Chrysler. The two have common ground and the two have lots of uncommon ground. Your needs may not match those of others. I'd also recommend a test drive before you get into product comparison.

To the readers: MLM is to Pyramid schemes as your investment broker is to Bernie Madoff. If everything you see is a pyramid scheme, you would be wise to close your eyes and walk away... you're not ready for the real world.

Bottom line: I didn't wait for 'independent' confirmation, at the time I had few product choices... SO I evaluated and proceeded because the protection of the child was of greater concern than being caught 'affiliated with an MLM'.."oh my!" I will be evaluating NetNanny now and evaluating my needs as time progresses.

and my advice to those above that give advise, put up a disclaimer statement that you rant because you can and have no basis of fact to do true product comparisons.

Hey LouSmith,

Please point to some independent confirmation that WebSafety exists, and that it compares favorably to its competition. I'm stressing the word INDEPENDENT - someone must have done a regular review of this stuff. If nothing like this is forthcoming, anyone who's been "touched" by the whole MLM sales machine will come to similarly negative conclusions. (Note, TV news geniuses do not qualify as independent reviewers.)

In short, in answer to my question "Where's the beef?" please provide a link to a real review with meat to it.

Hello Mr. Barrett -
I'm not a WebSafety affiliate nor am I an employee, manager or principal of the company. But I take exception to the severe, negative spin you put on your tale. I would have hoped that someone as articulate as you would have taken a few minutes more minutes to educate yourself before pontificating on something about which you are so terribly misinformed.
Shame on you for assuming that the clearly unprofessional people you encountered would have effectively communicated any concept, let alone something as important to parents as the safety of their children.
You have put yourself in the company of the fabled blind men who each were asked to touch only one part of an elephant to describe the whole animal. You've grabbed the "tail" of WebSafety and concluded that it's like a rope with a fuzzy end and an odd smell. Your tale has been unduly biased and you've in essence published a work of fiction inappropriately supported with a few disparate facts.
The totally misleading nature of your post reminds me of an observation made frequently by my father during my youth that "There are none so blind as those who will not see."
The facts here are that WebSafety works on far more issues than you describe and the cost for families is less than half of what you quote.

Hi Simon,

Well, well, well...I have been researching this company and I too have been skeptical...We currently use NetNanny.com for our web security for our child and have been very happy with it. I too heard from a friend about this and I did get somewhat excited however when I installed the product eerything from there is very anticlimatic. The websites and marketing materials suck and it's a bit challenging getting a straight answer out of anyone on somethings. I think I'll stick with NetNanny. They work with Mac's and now they have a mobil platform that works on more phones than WebSafety. Thanks for your post...it helped me see the true story.
