I hate to think what would be happening, were McCain our president rather than Obama. I don’t think I can recall so many major problems facing our nation since WW II. The list is almost endless.
We are trying to disengage from two ‘wars’ — Iraq and Afghanistan — which are costing us a fortune.
Iran threatens.
We are facing the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression.
Poverty in various parts of the world is stimulating mass murders — mainly of Muslims by fellow Muslims.
Our world population growth is threatening the resources needed for human life and creating political conflicts connected therewith — particularly water.
The freakish weather that has hit other parts of the globe as well as the U.S. is both killing people and again stimulating murderous conflicts. If the world is warming, the lives of billions will be threatened.
Our Western major religions seem to have a number of members who are bent on wars and variously abusing people.
Peace-makers are attacked for sabotaging national interests.
Frankly I don’t know how Obama keeps all of these and other threats to humanity in mind, let alone figures the best ways to cope with them. He obviously cares about the well-being of people and peace, but there are so many conflicts of interests that it is difficult to figure how to weigh them against each other.
And unhappily we have the party of ‘No’ which constantly places him under attack rather than joining in the struggle to save ourselves.

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackYes? And, please: we should thank your god about Obama—why?
We should thank our God for Obama because we finally have an intelligent, caring preseident who is facing the difficult task of bringing our nation back on track after the dismal failures of the last administration. This president cares about improving the world for our children, grandchildren, and their children. It is nice to see that the US has a leader that is highly regarded by most of the rest of the world, instead of being derided and hated. He is making the hard decisions to fix the greed and sellouts of the past. This is not an enviable job because so many people want everything for themselves and don’t care about anyone else. But it is the true Christian way.
I see.
I feel all tingly and, well, frankly—aroused.
Yes, please thank your god for the miracle of Obama, a post racial, non partisan man, a fresh, young, cheerful, open man who has brought transparency to all of government, saved the economy, created jobs, repaired the highways and infra-structure, lowered the seas, cleaned the air, put the health laws process on C-Span for all to see, prevented attacks on America, and inspired the love and limitless respectful cooperation of other stout men, from Chavez to Putin. And also cleaned up internet dating.
I thank your god. What god would that be, by the way. There are so many, you see.
Oh—and he’s said to also be, “a light-skinned Negro, with no Negro dialect…” roughly, according to Harry Reid (I didn’t say it, Harry Reid said it.)
Yes, I thank the god that I survived Bush/Halliburton and lived long enough to see this come to pass, having seen he foretelling of it in my village.
It saddens me that I’m dying of Spiciarchir’s Syndrome, and won’t be here to experience the final rapture.
My sickness, you, see—the brain, it just dies. Dries out. Crumbles into tiny ashes. Blows away through the nostrils. It’s where Spiciarchir first developed the diagnosis itself: “He blew his brains out—laughing.”
I’m sorry that you are dying. I am more sorry that you are dying with that man in office. I hope when you need a doctor, your man in office didn’t help kill you.
Oops, I mean to say “that man”, not “your man”.
Just sharing my thoughts on some of the responses to the article.
There was a study conducted years ago where young Children in a classroom were seperated by eye color. On one side of the class sat the blue eyed students and on the other sat the brown eyed students. The Children were first told that the blue eyed students were favored, smarter and in turn more accepted. The blue eyed students then behaved differently towards the brown eyed students as anyone could guess and on that day the brown eyed students were less motivated, felt unaccepted I am sure etc… Is it any wonder?
The next day the students were told that a mistake had been made and that it was instead the brown eyed students that were favored.
I liken that study to the way I look at the Republican and Democrat parties as well as different sexes, races and what not.
What would happen if there were a student who had one blue eye and one brown eye?
Or if a person was mixed race?
Or and independent?
I may not have voted for Obama. I disagree with his administration hugely on a lot of the issues. (Mostly in regards to spending in certain areas.) I do fully acknowledge that Obama is the current President of the United States of America and to be quite honest although there are things I disagree with him about there are also other things he has done or has laid plans for that I am quite impressed about.
I do not recall ever fully agreeing with any other past administration’s plans either.
We are all human beings here and working together to solve issues is obviously the best possible option.
I watched Rev. Sharpton on the news the other day in regards to the racial comments made about Obama’s “light skin” and the way he speaks. I believe that the Rev. dropped the ball on that whole issue personally. The racial comments did not get addressed properly in my opinion. Black folks judge against each other the same way, as do other races. The comments that were made about Obama being “light skined” did not depend upon whether the person who said it was a Republican or a Democrat, white, balck, Native American, male, female, Christian, Muslim or other.
It isn’t about race. It’s simply about picking a favored side.
As for me personally, I am on our side.
Our country’s foundation is built on democracy. Race, sex, religion etc…are not the necessary deciding factor when it comes to upholding the constitution, laws and overall integrity of the United States of America.
It’s the basic understanding of what the consitution means, the protections it provides and the pride of the people who are willing to fight to maintain the integrity of our Country that are the deciding factor.
That means you and me. “We the people.”
This is our country and Obama is currently our President. “We the people” said so by vote.
That’s the way it works.
As far as religion goes it is my peronal belief that our Creator spoke to all the people in a language that they could understand. The issues I see are in interpretation and also how people manipulate the message to fit their own personal agenda.
Some folks are atheists.
This is the United States of America and your beliefs are protected here, unless of course, your beliefs clearly violate the rights of other people.
So no, I am not going to be a pom pom waving cheerleader for Obama persay, I do, however, have pride in this country and I am supportive of our President, afterall, he does represent “We the people”…
Having Obama as President has been quite a humbling experience for all.
I’m sorry but i have to say this guys is as much an imbecile as Obama. Thank G– for whom?..
Seriously??? How has having Obama as President been humbling??? I am not a racist…my daughter is half-black. So, you can stop thinking that about me right now.I also not a Dem or Rep or conservative or any of the others. I am of my own mind. I choose who I believe will be the right person for this country. I did not choose him because of all the lying and coniving he did through his campaign. He claims to not hide anything from the American public??? WHERE IS HIS BIRTHCERTIFICATE? (Not yelling, proving a point). I find it hard to believe that people who didn’t vote for this man can say they have pride in our country and are supportive of a man that does not. You say he has done some things you are proud of or that his “plans” are what you are proud of. I MUST ask what specifically is it you are talking about? All of the people in favor of this president say the same thing “his plans are worth looking forward to”. Has he done ONE thing he promised while asking we Americans to vote for him? In my opinion, no. He is turning this country in to a socialist/marxist country. He has done EVERYTHING that Stalin and Hitler did. If you do not understand history, it will be repeated. He wants to be a dictator. I cannot believe how blind some Americans are. Please, when you finally realize this, do not come to me and say you are sorry. I will be long gone by then.
Thank you for allowing me to voice my opinion, I fear that in such a short time that will be taken from me.
