The author believes that the problem is inherent to all faiths and should be explored as a universal human problem, not just a Catholic one.
Additionally, the issue raises quite a bit of concern over the lax attention paid by parents, siblings and other family members when not properly supervising individuals that get caught up in this uninvited abuse.
In addition to increased educational responsibilities, parents also need to seriously review the situations they permit their children to get involved with.

The whole problem of misconduct of certain ministers of the cloth, is related to imagery/ perception.

The person they see themselves is colored in the most perverse way; though they don't see it, the corruption of the flesh is complete. It will always have unimpeded sway without a clear, relevant and poignant picture of what they were created to be and do. "LOVE One Another..."

Only by the amazing, nearly unimaginable love for us, the Father God reveals by the death, burial and resurrection of His Son, can anyone be transformed.

To understand and hold this image ever forefront in ones life is to be able to "Love the LORD your GOD "Father God" with all their hearts, mind, strength and soul,"

Only by clearly seeing a sustained vision of His love for us, can we truly love ourselves. By virtue of understanding True Love will anyone ever be led to love their neighbors as themselves.

It is all about clear unobstructed, uncolored, consistent imagery/perception that pierces the soul as the nails pierced the LORD'S hands and feet hanging Him on the Cross...

I understand what Mr. McNichol is saying here, and I repsect his opinion because he seems to be a man who tries to offer comments based both on opinion and knowledge. I do disagree that there has "been extremely inordinate amount of negative reporting on the Catholic Church’s sex scandals." I think this is an issue so important that all the news that is being published needs to be published. Now, if he is saying that there also needs to be information published about other religions, I can understand. But, if he feels that this is over-publicized, then I disagree. The only way we will get the hierarchy of the Catholic church to change is to make public what they are doing at this point. Also, there is just soooo much information about the sexual abuse scandal in the Catholic church, that it seems like it is being over-publicized, but that is just the reporting of the facts and responses to those heinous facts.

I also think that the Catholic church is an embodiment of that structure that teaches that the hierarchy has absolute power and the real people of God have none. Take, for example, the church's stand on women priests, that has no basis in the Gospel. The same goes for married priests. However, the hierarchy of the Catholic church has made the decision, and that's that. So, in the Catholic church, there are 6 Sacraments for women and 7 for men. Again, with no basis in the Gospel.

Just a couple of things to consider....
