Hey guys!

Tomorrow there will be a new segment posted for approval by Jan/Simon, so it should be up by tomorrow afternoon. I am so happy that others have been so supportive and may have been helped by this series. We're moving on to Chapter 7 and beyond....hold on tight....here we go (again).

Interesting....please be sure to discuss the triggers at very end. I've questioned whether or not depression, anxiety, etc... can be contagious? Not literally contagious, but moreso environmental such as in the close proximity and influence of an intimate relationship later in life. Not just childhood or parental nuturing/environmental factors, but delving deeper into how those casual friendships & close relationship impact dormant, underlying issues or conditions in remission .....

DISCLAIMER:

This series is not meant to imply that Misty has done anything wrong with Haleigh.

The author of this series does not mean to imply that Misty Croslin was abused as a child by her family. I do have knowledge of an event that happened in her teens that COULD cause PTSD. This is why the author (me) thinks she may have PTSD

This series is meant to educate others on why young ladies sometimes act in self-destructive manners (Alcohol/drug use & abuse, Sex, Rapid partner changes, school drop out)

IMO this series says more good about Misty then it will ever say nagative. To me, by the end, it will give others a reason to not criticize her and to open thier hearts to her.

Just wanted those following the series to know that night before last I stayed up all night and wrote literally 40 hand-written pages for this series. I've written up to Chapter 12 (there's 16 total). So don't worry that I'll leave you hangin...More is on it's way over the Christmas Holiday. I hope to wrap it up before New Years. I just feel like starting on a "fresh" note by then. I'm so tickeled that so many are reading and enjoying this series. I hope you continue on with me.....

Hi Kim, I'm sorry you are having to deal with this. I'm glad you were able to get help with it. It sounds like this article could be of some help to you too. Lesa has done a wonderful job bringing this to light. It may be a diagnosis that is more widespread than anyone realizes.
I didn't have such a great childhood early on, but it could have been much worse. At least later I was taken in by an Aunt who raised me like I was her own. My Mother (her baby sister) died when I was 7, so was left in the care of an alcoholic Father. Now I am the only one left of my immediate family.
It doesn't have to be childhood trauma that causes PTSD. I didn't understand that it could be a number of circumstances.
Any time you are verbally, physically or emotionally abused over a period of time, this can happen. If someone tells you that you are worthless, ugly and no one would ever want you, you start to believe it yourself. It can get out of control before you even realize it has happened. Everyone's circumstances are different. Personally, I kind of shut my self off from everyone without even realizing I was doing it. Some day's it's an effort just to get out of bed. You know you have to, but it's like your energy level is at zero.
I'm glad Lesa is writing about this. I hope it helps her in addition to helping others.

I was diagnosed with ptsd many years ago while in a voluntary treatment program. My counselor managed to bring some memories from my childhood to the surface and BAM I was in a full blown flashback... all I can say is sometimes its best to remember and with time and much talking it may help to relieve the horrible sentence we are forced to live. I won't sit here and try to convince you it is easy, since no part of this disorder is...but once you have named it, it may, as it did for me get easier.

Lesa, I do want to ask something. I know that PTSD is totally different than just an anxiety disorder. I just don't know what defines it.
It has been several years since my experience, so it's getting better, but looking back I now question some things. My Dr at the time said it sounded like I had PTSD. I told him I thought that was something war veterans had. He said no, that anyone who had been through trauma could experience this disorder. I convinced him to just put it at an anxiety disorder. I know many people have gone through much more than I have. I guess my question is, and I'm not asking you to play doctor, but do you believe the same medication would work for both?
It's been 7 years and I would think things would be much better, but I'm still having some issues. I feel guilty because my experience was nothing compared to yours.
I'm not sure if I know how to do this, but I may log into the forum and pm you if that's okay, or Jan could give you my email address if you wouldn't mind. I'm not real good with the computer.
It's just something I'd like to ask that I'd rather not put here on the open board.
Thank you.

OJ's glove: Do you really know what this story is all about? If you did, I don't think you would have left that insensitive comment. I'm not going to insult you because I don't think you realize what you did. At least I hope not. Most of us would not want to walk even a mile in this author's shoes. Now that you did leave the comment, I think you owe it to her to go back and read all her stories, it would be worth the time. Yes, it's long, but how do you put a time line on a lifetime of severe abuse of every type imaginable?
Lesa, very good article. I enjoy reading them. Lot's of valuable information. You are coming a long way with this. You are so descriptive in your writing that it puts the reader right there. You've been so good at describing it that I'm not sure I even need to rent the movie.
You are a strong lady. Just keep doing what you are doing. I for one am amazed at how you've been able to handle all this. I know it's not just a story. You may be helping more people than you could possibly imagine.
Thank you for sharing.
