COmbat Guy:

Thank you so much for your post/comment. I agree that there is much more to the cannabis issue then just "dope heads". It's odd how some don't consider scientific evidence, they just go on with their own prejudices without even considering the fact the many Dr.s are in FAVOR of medical marijuanna. My own Dr, when I asked him about this issue to get a Dr.'s perspective said he wished he could perscribe it for his patients. At this time Dr.s in FL can only perscribe it for anorexia. Anyone else who could be helped by this natural substance is just plain Out-of-luck.

Nancy,

Learn some more about combat-induced PTSD. The sad truth is that being "zombied out on pot" can be much preferable to nightmares, rage and violence that isn't solved my talk-therapy.

There is no form of therapy that has been proven to work better than cannabis for PTSD in soldiers. Now that some good studies are coming out about the plant, we should open our minds and hearts.

Life isn't perfect. Cannabis is a medicine. For the sick and suffering, it relieves much. Personally, my spouse prefers me on cannabis over Prozac or any other medication/drug. A little takes the edge off anxiety and enables me to be more engaged and useful. As with all things, it is best in moderation according to need.

Another thing is, no hang over! No addiction like some benzos that can cause seizure if stopped immediately. You can overdose on beer, aspirin or vitamins before you can on cannabis.

For those suffering from PTSD, don't let others make your decisions for you by making you feel guilty for wanting relief. Try the right strain of medical marijuana and it may be the best thing you ever did to help yourself be happy and better in the world.

Nancy;

I'm soryy, what is PTSS?

I am wondering if you actually read the articles I listed. They contain very scientific information as to why they work the way they do. It is not some "here you go free-fo-all". They synthesis the part that works for people, not give them the actual drug. I DID also state that I do not endorse self-medication of any kind and that I found it surprising that these drugs were being examined. Sorry you don't like the medical news.

So the "experts" want to replace anxiety with patients zombied out on pot and ecstacy? Figures. Back in the 70's they were insisting LSD visions worked too.

Next thing you know, they'll claim alcohol is the newest thing to cure PTSS...

Of course destroying the memories and numbing the emotions work for PTSS...the question is if the cure is worse than the disease. In some folks it is, but a lot of folks who just like being "happy" will use pTSS as an excuse to abuse drugs, in the same way that my druggies exaggerated their physical pain to abuse narcotics.

The rule in medicine (all medicine) is to avoid strong treatment if weaker treatments will work. You don't use antibiotics for colds, but they save lives in pneumonia.

Same thing for PTSS.
