You don’t have to be from Florida to have missing children. Lately since we have been following missing children cases, it just seems like it is more common in Florida but the truth of the matter is that it is happening everywhere.
This morning, I sat down at my computer and started reading my emails while trying to wake up. I just wanted to cry. When is this going to stop, I ask.
In my alerts from Google there were a few articles listed about a 4 year old little boy from Newburgh, New York missing from his family’s apartment. He disappeared Monday afternoon. Marc Anthony Bookal was last seen about 1:20 when he and his mother’s boyfriend were getting ready to go out to visit a relative. Marc apparently walked outside the apartment door which was left open and hasn’t been seen since.
The boyfriend checked at the neighbor’s house where he claims the child sometimes goes but no one has seen him. They looked around for him but there are no signs of the boy.
“We searched the entire neighborhood. We went door to door, block by block,†said police Lt. Charles Broe Monday night. “They’re working on it as we speak.â€
An Amber Alert has not been issued because apparently this case does not meet the state criteria. New York requires the child to have been abducted, with either a witness, or investigators eliminating other possibilities or a belief that the child is in danger of serious health or injury. An alert through the state Missing and Exploited Children Clearinghouse will be issued. A radio bulletin has been sent out to alert other local police departments as well.
Marc stands about 3 ft. 5 in. tall and he weighs about 42 pounds. He is a light skinned black boy with medium length sandy brown afro and brown eyes. When he was last seen he was wearing a red long sleeved shirt and gray sweatpants. He had on a pair of white Nike sneakers. He also has blotches on his skin on the back of his hands from a previous burn injury.
According to Fox 5 News the mother’s boyfriend has been arrested and charged with reckless endangerment
Anyone with any information to what has happened to little Marc please contact the City of Newburgh Police Department at 845-561-3131 or the hot line at 800-346-3543.
I pray that little Marc is OK where ever he is. Children just don’t disappear without a trace without help. Somewhere out there someone knows where he is. Please come forward and help bring this child home. This time of year makes it even harder to deal with situations as this. Children should be home excited about Santa Claus coming soon. They shouldn’t be somewhere that they are afraid of. My heart goes out to Marc’s family and I do hope he is found soon, safe.

One would think that a four year old wandering the streets of New York would be considered “danger of serious health or injury”. IMO, an amber alert is more than justified for a 4 yr old.

I noticed in the Fox News article that Bookal had scars on his hands from a previous “burn incident”. I wonder if that was investigated as child abuse? This sounds like another case of a mother leaving her child in the care of some creep boyfriend she had in her life that murdered her child. I am SO sick of these mothers endangering their children by having these worthless men in their lives and choosing THEM over their children. I’m afraid this case will turn out like so many others and this blessed child is now in the hands of God. When will these mother’s learn? How many babies have to die before women WAKE UP and make sure they truly know the men they allow around their children. Where are their priorities? I pray I am wrong but since this loser has been arrested I’m afraid it isn’t looking good.

M2C – I don’t know how those jurors look at themselves in a mirror or sleep at night? The injuries were consistant with her being thrown from a car. Babies don’t die from standing by a tub and hitting their head. Justice was NOT served in this case. Babies are tougher than we give them credit for. It would take a lot to cause the injuries and death of this baby and it certainly wasn’t falling back and hitting her head. This was MUCH more and he got away with it! Noticed it was in Florida too! What is up with Florida lately?

I’m back…You know I didn’t leave my kids with ANYONE I had even an inkling of a thought that they would be harmed in any way. THEY ADORE ME FOR IT! My husband and I have had problem, sure. We all do. Money, Relationship, in-laws, every day life. We stuck it through those hard times, those tempting times sometimes for no other reason then we both KNEW no other person would be able to touch thier lives in that way. Not Male, Not Female! Jenna…so true…They had a purpose like we all do and when they achieved thier goal, God called them home. Now it’s up to us fullfill our purpose and help God stop this. Cause I’m thinking if these Moms KNEW without a shadow of a doubt, that if thier boyfriend/lover/husband abuse and/or kill thier child that they would serve THE SAME or MORE time for the crime…..How many do you think would risk it? I’d say we’d cut it by at least HALF instaniously. We need to do something. I too am sick of women turning a blind eye then claiming innocence. If your man is abusive at all…you’ll know it. 9 times out of 10 if not everytime.
Some say these things have always happened but we just didn’t hear about them as much prior to the internet and 24/7 news. I say it doesn’t matter if it has always been happening or not…NOW we know about it and we’ve GOT to find a way to stop this madness. How many babies have to die before our justice system finds a way to keep these maggots behind bars where they belong? If the sentences were stiffer and the MOTHERS were charged as accessories then maybe, JUST MAYBE we could send a stronger message to these freaks that if they can’t do the time, don’t do the crime. I swear there really needs to be a test or some sort of screening done before people are allowed to have children! It’s always these crackhead moms with their crackhead boyfriends that end up with dead and missing children. Perhaps drug screening for parents….you can’t pass a piss test, you lose your children until you can pass a piss test. CHOOSE between your drugs and your child. If you choose drugs, your children get a new home with someone who actualy wants them and YOU get fixed so you can’t have anymore children. Seems fair to me!

Hollyds Gmom – Something certainly has to change. Heck, on CNN yesterday there was an article about a guy who killed two cats that got sentenced to 12 years. Yet these freaks that hurt children over and over get away with it time and time again. Don’t get me wrong, I think the guy deserved the 12 years for killing and torturing two cats but shouldn’t these freaks that hurt babies due as much time as the guy who killed the cats? Why was this guy who fractured his own child’s skull out of jail and allowed to hurt another child? Obviously he is guilty. He has told different stories, has a history…..even told the cops in one story that he left the kid to go buy drugs…what a loser! I hope they get to the bottom of this and can find the evidence to convict this guy!

Hollys Gmom: For the life of me I can’t seem to find the news story that had this Cory Byrd’s picture. I’m starting to doubt my sanity. I know I saw his picture in one of the news stories yesterday. I don’t know if it was a recent picture of him or not.
It wasn’t just because of the dreadlocks that I thought he resembled Shaniya’s killer. Of course I know it isn’t the same guy. Maybe it was the emptiness in his eyes that reminded me of Mario McNeil. I even tried to Google him and still didn’t get a photo.
Little Marc was in the care of this guy when he obtained 2nd degree burns as well. I haven’t heard how this was supposed to have happened. I can’t understand why the mother left this child with him again.
This is a very violent man. Apparently he served 5+ years for attacking a man in 2002. The man was only 18 at the time. He is 25 now. His name was withheld at his request, but Cory Byrd beat him and slashed his face with a knife and left him for dead over $10 worth of marijuana the way I understood it. He had a gash from his right eye to his left ear that required 250 stitches.
If he would do that, it doesn’t surprise me that he would hurt a child. I have to agree with the others. The mother should be charged as well. Since all this is public record, this woman knew what kind of man she was leaving her son with. It can’t be that she didn’t know. Why is she putting this man before her son. I’m sorry, but I can’t feel sorry for her, only Marc get’s my sympathy.
Cory Byrd’s victim is very concerned for the Marc’s safety. I believe that’s the only reason he even shared the story.
Let’s hope I’m wrong, but I don’t get a good feeling about this at all.

Christina Bookal disagrees with the charges against her boyfriend.
“I understand he let him go out the door, but reckless endangerment, that’s more like he harmed him,” she said.
But the prevailing sentiment among some of Marc’s other relatives, including his biological father, is that something about this case just doesn’t add up.
“There’s something wrong. I don’t think he should have let him go outside by himself,” said Clarence Mitzner, the boy’s uncle.
“He shouldn’t have been watching my son. Now he’s watching him again, now nobody [breaks down],” said Yul Bookal, the boy’s father.
Yul Bookal is this child’s bio-dad. Apparently Christina took this $ss-wipe back after got got paroled in April. What a tw*t! Do we know exactly when he and she started dating again? Do we know a date on the injuries to Marc’s hands?
I just wanted to say that (once again, Miss Know-it-all) I know a little something about hand burns. My son had accidentally over turned a still warm iron my mother had been using and had already turned off several minutes before. It burned him on the back side of his right hand. we of course rushed to run coll, not cold water over it to release the heat but became so concerned that we rushed to the ER. Well, apparently they thought it was such a huge emergancy that they kept us waiting in the lobby for over 40 minutes without even offering in ice pack. By the time the Dr has actually been able to see him the burn had deepened since there was no continuous application of coolant. It didn’t dawn on me to bring any from home, this was our first emergancy. The Dr said that hand burns are particularily dangerous and we were lucky he had burned the back side instead of the front as those burns are much more damaging. By now he is 20, nearing 21. There is still a small discolored patch on that hand but barely noticeable. He looks at it now and shruggs “I don’t even remember it.” Marc’s burns sound a lot more serious though, and likely to have been intentional, not accidental due to Byrd’s proven ability to be cruel.

There are 3 videos on the previously mentioned site. The last known, non-family verified, place Marc had been seen is a local convienience type store. The shop owner/ worker clearly remembered the two and claimed that Marc was smiling and fine. Mr Byrd purchased a pack of ciggs and a pack of gum for Marc. The shop owner mentions in, I beleive the 3rd video, that Marc spoke with is mother over the phone while in his presence.
I wanted others to take particluar notice of video 2. at approx :50 (50 seconds into the video) you can clearly see a pair of sneakers thrown over a powerline just in front of the apartment where Marc lives. For those of you who don’t know about drug-culture, this is a sign that a DRUG DEALER lives there. Now it might be for their neighbor or possibly the apartment just across the street, but highly unlikely due to Mr Byrd’s previous record with drug sales.
Exscuse me: Correction the shoes over power line are at exactly :45. If you pause the video right there for a second and look towards the upper-right corner of the screen you will see a strange shaped dark or black spot. That is one shoe. If you look closer you can see the other shoe. The shoestrings of the pair are tied together, then thrown over the powerline so that both shoes dangle from the knot in the laces. Start the video and keep watching the shoes. If you pause at exactly :48 You get the closer shot of the shoes (boots ?)
Those shoes/boots are exactly in front of Byrd’s address.
Also the time of the last known, non-family, sighting/video was at Approx. 10:00 am that day.
Within 3 hours he would be missing. His mother claimed he wasn’t in school (pre-school?) due to his stomach ache. She stated that he had them from time to time and wouldn’t want to attend school. Well, I hate to tell you lady, but that IS a classic symptom of an abused child. Re-occuring stomach pains due to constant stress and fear. Plus the child had wanted to “escape” Mr Byrd’s presence to spend the day with his Aunt who lived just a few feet away from his own door.

Yul Bookal, the boy’s, biological father knew Byrd’s history, and believed Byrd burned his son’s hands, and also hit him. He said he told Christina that Byrd should not be near the boy.

Wow, I don’t know what happened, but I had been reading and was ready to post and noticed my post from last night was in the comments box about 8 times. It would have posted over and over again. I had already posted it. I see how that may have happened with JB’S post the other night.

I like to call it “the ghost in the machine”. To me it seems when we post very emotional posts, it’s almost like a little “zing” hits and….multiple posts occur.
Yea, what saddened me most was that FAMILY were already giving up after just 3 or 4 days. Sad! I know one must try to be a realist and taKE INTO CONSIDERATION STATISTICS, Wheather reports, the fact that NO ONE has mentioned him having or missing a coat…but come on! This is supposed to be his family!!! Give me the child! I’ll raise him, me and my brood!
To say I’m furious would be an understatement. I’m sure my blood pressure is off the charts right now. Why was this monster on the streets again to begin with to even have a chance to harm another child. I hadn’t heard about him hurting his own baby. I read the link Hollys GMom posted as well as the comments section. I can’t believe anyone would defend this man much less Marc’s mother. This b*#+h of a mother needs to be hung out to dry. Who was defending this baby? Absolutely no one! Everyone failed this child from the mother to our justice system. Where was Child Protective Services? This supposed mother knew he had hurt a child before, yet still leaves Marc in his care Unbelievable!
Did I read this right that the baby he hurt was their child together? I’m just having a hard time believing the mom is so dumb. Hell no they can’t be rehabilitated.
I have to wonder how long Marc was gone before he even reported him missing. I heard LE was searching abandoned buildings, but I haven’t heard if they searched their apartment. Does anyone know this? Seriously, do they have to have a search warrant? You would think they would be looking for DNA or something. How do they know he didn’t hurt Marc in the apartment then do something with him? He is the one that claimed the door was open. Obviously you can’t believe a word this man say’s.
Hollys Gmom: Maybe you’ve should be in Law Enforcement. You are pretty observant. I had no clue about the gym shoes symbol. I didn’t know that meant a drug dealer lived there. Come to think of it, I have seen that while driving thru certain areas of town. I thought maybe kids threw them up there.
I’ll have to check out the forum. I haven’t been there in a while. For now, I need to get off the computer. I’m spending way to much time on it. I’m finding myself logging in at work. Outside the fact we aren’t supposed to, I rarely have that kind of time.

Where was child protective services? They aren’t mention, that I remember only that I ASSUMED they were involved after Marc’s mom had been reported for the burned hands 2 months prior to his disappearance. She must have lied and told them that only she and the kids were living in the home, it’s the only way it makes sense. It happens A LOT! I’ve seen a PG wife leave urine, in the bathroom when DCFS is expected. Hubby goes in, uses it instead, passes weekly drug test in order to keep thier child. DCFS works acted like they had no clue…Did I mention that they had been caught doing this before?
BACK TO Marc:
I believe the apartment was searched as soon as PD arrived. There is a video on one of the links of a reporter being in thier apartment and opening a bedroom type door (Looked pretty strown) and talking about a BACK DOOR the child has gone out. Early reports claimed front door, but later reports show the back door. There is a VERY close little alleyway that runs about 70-80 ft long to the street (Front of building) where his Aunt lived next door.
We know Marc was OK at 10:00 am. 10:30AM (Estimated time they were in the store, the walk back to the apartment, etc)
From 10:30 AM until 1:00PM when Bryd made that call? We don’t know yet.
I’ll be keeping a watch tonight for any news.

Marc Anthony Bookal Disappeared Under The Care Of His Mother’s Boyfriend, Who Is Now In Police Custody
Marc’s father Yul says:
“Tell the people where you are, if you wanna do a polygraph test and set yourself free whatever the case may be,” Bookal told CBS 2. “I just need to know where my son is and if he had something to do with the disappearance of my son, just like knowing where he is so I can have some closure to this. I feel like I’m about to lose my mind, I have never been through anything of this magnitude before.”
As far a Mr Bookal is concerned, I feel for him. One has to remember what a vicious person Cory Byrd IS and imagine Mr. Bookal’s position. If Byrd kills him, Marc is still left unprotected. DCFS? Well, it seems like they’re afraid too, or something.
Part of the problem are flaws in the system.
Did you know that if you report a person for “wrong-doing” around or to thier child(ren)IF they should not “get caught” and fool the worker(s) they are given your name & info and they are told they can press charges on YOU! For making a false report! For the innocent, it’s a good thing; for the guilt who just keep getting by it’s a death sentence for some.
Another part of the problem is these housing agencies need to more closely monitor thier dwellings as to who is actually staying there and for how long. SO many of these men, I’m not talking race here:that’s across the board, white black, hispanic, asian; they don’t work, live off of the woman and kids through free rent programs or reduced rent. Food Stamps/AssistaNCE (Some of these guys are spending a state check money to buy themselves smokes, beer, drugs. That check they’re spending is what the Government is sending to support the kids because he or some other of his ilk aren’t supporting them. ) Put themselves through College, ?
And just who is that slum lord? Have you seen those apartments next door? Some are just boarded up abandoned apartments. Do they know what happens to empty dwellings that close to a wharf? Hold Cow! Hopefully a giant rat didn’t bite him.
I’m going to look at public records to see if they are individually owned or a group. Maybe if we know the info we can help keep rumor down.

These children did NOT belong in that home after INCIDENT 1. Their mother is a drug-using moron, who left her defenseless young with a convict who had a record of past abuses. I pray for the well being of the missing little one, but I am afraid that the animals he was left with did what animals do. Both of those monsters should be behind bars.
Just to remind everyone how quickly these “stories” fall off the “radar”. There has been NO Update since. Yesterday.
It’s either that or they’ve found something in the house or one of the other kids knew something. Who knows….I hope we have an answer to where this little guy is soon.
My husband does not follow missing persons cases such as I. However, he watched Nancy Grace with me when the story aired. First words out of his mouth “Does this guy know the other girls stepmother?” Referencing a copy cat to Haleigh’s disappearance. Sad, truly sad. Pray not only for the missing, also for those responsible. Pray that they will stop.
It’s very much like the Hasanni Campbell case. That poor little guy has yet to be found. He’s been missing since August.
Shoes thrown over a light post or power lines is a symbol of a (gang related) murder.

Update: LE are still searching the river front near Marc’s home. It is obvious they are looking for remains. 2 weeks missing & looking in the river for him. I hope that they are wrong, but fear they might be right.
This morning I woke up to the news that the search for little corey is over;I started to scream and ask God why, why should the search be over for any missing person. My heart is broken, my soul is hurt, and too many questions are unanswered. This poor baby is out here, someone knows something. I don’t want to rush to judgment but the motherfd of this child has not shed one tear for her child, on camera, but yet she defends the man she loves with sureness even though he has a record for harming another child. I don’t understand it. as a mom if the police suspects anyone, than guess what? I will suspect them as well. until they have been cleared Who knows maybe she has something to hide.the bottom line is when a child just vanishes and isn’t found but has been seen in the company of someone in the family than that person should be the number one suspect. I hope corey is found alive and well which is something I stopped thinking would ever happen when so many of the missing usually turn up dead.
1982 my aunt Mrs Chambers who at the time was 8-months pregnant went missing; she also had a 2-year-old who was left with us(family)rosetta went down stairs from our home to the grocery store and was never seen again, she just vanished without a trace. Its been over 28-years we have giving up on ever finding her or her unborn alive. We want her back either way.I want to send my condolences to all the families who has loved ones missing and I want to let them know I pray for them even though I may not know them or never heard of their stories my heart still hurts. I will pray little corey’s mom have nothing to do with her sons disappearance and that she finds some love for little corey and put the same dedication she shows in protecting mark into finding little corey.

By the way my aunt name is mrs rosetta chambers she went missing in october of 1982. From the bronx,ny. She at the time was 9-Months pregnant, and had a 2-year-old she loved dearly whom she would have never left behind. She is Afro-American,brown hair,brown eyes, she would be in her middle 40′s and stands between 5ft to 5’5, she wore her hair out it was sort of like a big afro hair style, with the widest smile. Our family has giving up hope of ever finding her alive but we would love to bury her remains and give her daughter who at the time was so close to her some closure. Please we just want them home she has lost four sisters since then and they all while were alive never forgotten her. Thanks for such a wonderful site and may you keep up the good work, you have done a blessed thing for the missing. May God bless you.
Shelly, I too have an Aunt named Rosetta Chambers who disappeared around the same time.
This occurred in the Bronx N.Y around Boston rd.
