This is another shock to me. We teach our children not to talk to strangers. We tell them not to trust anyone that you do not know. Now we are hearing more and more about siblings killing siblings. What is going on in this world?
Not only are we hearing about siblings killing siblings but we are hearing more about teenagers killing our children as well. A few weeks back I reported on nine year old Elizabeth Olten being murdered by a 15 year old girl that claimed she wanted to kill her so she could find out what it feels like to take someone else’s life. Once again I have to ask what is going on in this world.
Tonight I got an email from one of our readers (btw…thanks for sending it to me) and it had a link to this story in it about a little 10 year old boy killed from Rising Sun, Indiana and how his older 17 year old brother is being charged.
Conner Conley’s family says that the 17 year old picked up his brother from his aunt’s house over the weekend. The family said that hours later the 17 year old went into the police station to make a confession to killing his brother. Not long after that the Indiana State Police searched a wooded area and they found the boy’s body.
An autopsy was performed by a pathologist from Indiana State University Tuesday but they wouldn’t reveal the results. They refuse to announce how the boy was killed but they did say the results were helpful in their investigation. Although they won’t discuss a motive they say the 17 year old is their only suspect. Because of his age his name has not been released, unless you go to another site that I was reading. Right now he is being charged with /Battery Causing Serious Bodily Injury’ but the prosecution says as they build evidence in the case they may upgrade the charges. They say he may also face a trial as an adult at some point in the process. He will be back in court on Friday for a delinquency hearing.
This has to really be hard on the family. “This bothers me. The whole situation bothers me…I’ve got a grandson dead and another accused of doing it,” said the teen’s grandmother.
My heart goes out to the family. I pray that God gives them the strength to get through this especially during the holidays. I hope you all will join me in praying for them.
As we pray please continue praying for the list of children I keep on my prayer list also. I know I keep bringing this up but I can’t in my heart leave them out. Please help me in remembering them tonight. My list keeps adding up and this is only a very small portion of the number of children that needs our prayers, so please keep the ones that their names are not on my list in the prayers as well. Here is my list: Caylee Anthony (found dead), Adji Desir (remains missing), Haleigh Cummings (remains missing), Somer Thompson (found dead), Elizabeth Olten (found dead) , Masaraha Ross (remains missing), Alex Mercado (drowned) Rebecca Marie Allen (found alive), Sandra Cantu (found dead), Anthony Holland (found alive), Shaniya Davis (found dead), Hassani Campbell (remains missing), Giovanni Gonzalez (reported dead), Nevaeh Buchanan ( found dead) and Shannon Dedrick (found alive), Angel Miguel Perez (found safe) Luis Martinez (found dead) Luke Finch (found alive), Kayvon Lewis (fighting for his life), Andrue Jankwitz and Nathaneal Hale (found safe) and now Conner Conley (killed).

I’d like to thank you for taking on this cause and asking all your readers to pray for these children and their families. I would also like it if you added to your prayer list all of those children who are being abused who we don’t know about. It is such a huge problem. I too have wondered what this world is coming to. Is it getting worse or does it just seem like it because the Haleigh Cummings case got our attention? I was beginning to wonder if their were any decent people left in this world, but the very case that has opened my eyes to this huge problem has also shown me many great people who only want to help, Among those on that list are you and Simon. So I’d like to thank you both for being such good and caring people in such a harsh world.
I’d also like to thank Jan & Simon and for keeping this all too tragic prayer list.
A while ago, I had asked that little Nevaeh be remembered as I was saddened to see that there was barely any mention of this 5 year old child online.
Nevaeh Buchanan was left alone to play outside & was taken by somebody, murdered & then encased in cement.
But please note the correct spelling of her name should be: Nevaeh Buchanan. (Her first name is heaven spelled backwards & her last name ends with “AN” not an ‘en.’)
R.I.P. Nevaeh Buchanan & all the other child victims.
Jan,
I don’t know how you do. To read about these babies is one thing… but, to have to report on the cases AND attend to your OWN emotions and feelings. But, I do KNOW WHY YOU DO IT!!!
***THANK YOU VERY MUCH***
Cent
Thank you both. My heart goes out to all these children. I think that suddenly our attention has come to more of the missing and abused children in this world just with the cases we report about here. I don’t know if it has always been this way and it has went unnoticed by the public or what but now we are noticing it more so I am trying my best to keep it in the public so more people are truly aware of the true danger our children are in these days if we aren’t careful. We just need to be more aware and practice safety more with them. Alas it is up to us as parents to protect them
Oh and I apologize for misspelling Nevaeh’s name. I knew it was HEAVEN spelled backwards. I guess sometimes I get ahead of myself when I am typing. Thanks for pointing it out to me and I have fixed it on this article.
God Bless!

Cent I only do it for the children. They need someone to be a voice for them and it does break my heart but I feel their stories need to be told and I try to do so the best I can.
Thanks
God Bless

I know the conley family, & it is horrible. THe family is a private family who are good people. Police don’t ask questions that have already be answered. The family needs all the prayer they can get. The family’s friends are setting up a memorial fund to help the mother with bills.
I pray for this family.
visit wlwt.com or wcpo.com for breaking news about this story. We live in Rising Sun and my children attended school with Conner. Just heartbreaking.
In the article I read on today posted on Verizons website was very detailed and very horrible. It stated that the young man, 17 year old Andrew Conley, watched a TV program on Showtime called Dexter and that he has wanted to kill someone every since 8th grade. He also stood over his sleeping father with a knife thinking of killing him. I looked the TV program Dexter up and it’s about a serial killer. Andrew said he acted like the killer in the TV program, he said he had to do it like a person has to have a hambuger, it just happened. It is very important what we allow and don’t allow into our children’s eyes and ears. The eyes and ears are the gateways to the heart. What we allow our children to see and listen to will condition their hearts. What we speak into our children will also condition their hearts. Depending on the conditioning of the heart is what we will speak out of our mouths and do with our hands. It is of great importance to teach and groom our own children and not allow others to have that responsibility by sitting our children in front of a TV un-monitor or listening to anything or anyone. It amazed me some years ago when I heard about the people who make certain shows and movies but don’t allow their own children to watch them. Parenting has become a harder job now than ever. We as parents must stop allowing so many outside influences into our homes through TV, Games, Music, Internet, Cell Phones, Other People, etc.
Jan;
It seams we both have typing dyslexia, LOL.
To Kimberly;
I do agree with you that the SHowtime program Dexter should NOT be viewed by children. However, the whole point of the show is that Dexter watched his mother brutally cut to pieces in front of him by a gangster. He was then left inside a railroad shipping crate in 2 inch deep blood for 3 days before he was found. It was due to this trauma that he was forever “corrupted”. The detective that found him adopted him and somewhere in his young childhood he discovered that Dex showed signs of being a psycopath. By this time he loved him as his own and wanted to “channel” those thoughts and feelings either out of him or into a positive direction. Dex & his sister follow dad into law enforcement. Dex has a particular “savant” with blood spatter so he is in forensics while sis is in homicide. Dexter does go on to murder people. He can’t seem to resist but, he follows a “creed” see forth by his dad when he chooses his victims. They are ALWAYS murderers themselves. (I know, doesn’t make it right, or ok, just plain vigilante justice but one has conflicted feelings about Dexter killing a child murderer). I DO agree that this is not a show a child should be viewing, maybe not even adults, but at the heart of the show it really is about phsycology. It’s almost an inside look at these people, how thier minds can work, as well as thier loved ones and how they might not even be aware.
I think more to the point than this young man watched this show, we need to be asking what was happening or happened in his real life that caused such inner turmoil, anger, and self-destructiveness. We also need to ask why he felt it necessary to kill his young brother. Was it to hide something? Unbridled, misdirected rage? Why? Why?
Oh yea…..I also wanted to add…..
” There but for the Grace of God go I”
I have been told many times that both my brother and I were lucky to have survived our own childhood & young adulthood. Many people who suffer our trauma, better, or worse have such serious emotional and psycological defects that they self-destruct. Suicide, serious drug/alcohol addictions, murderer….it all is an end of self. I will look up some stats on sibling murder. It obviously is a tpoic we need more information on and education so we can help stop the problem.
Here is an exceltent article on this topic and how to help prevent it.
“We know that sibling rivalry is as old as time. The history of this kind of family conflict is written deep within our Judeo-Christian cultural heritage. Who has not heard the stories of Cain and Abel, Esau and Jacob, Joseph and his brothers? The tension and fighting among these brothers was often violent. Cain murdered Abel.”
While it’s subject is Sibling Rivalry, it does discuss historical and present time sibiling murders and some of the motivations behind it.

Here is another story of brother murdering brother. It just happened in late October, here in FL. Sad, so sad. What is going on? Is it really happening more or are we just hearing about it more due to technology?
