Chelsea Clinton and her long-time boyfriend Marc Mezvinsky are to wed in the summer of 2010. Announcing the news of their engagement via e-mail, the couple have known each other since they were teenagers in Washington, D.C. during the Presidency of Chelsea’s father, Bill Clinton. They began dating in 2005.
Mezvinsky, an investment banker, and Clinton, a graduate student in health policy at Columbia University, are thought to have announced their engagement to forestall a repeat of a previous media kerfuffle in which an engagement between the pair was falsely reported in the press.
Although media reports are focusing on the happy couple, it will be interesting to see whether there is mainstream coverage of Mezvinsky’s father Edward Mezvinsky – an interesting political figure in his own right.
