E.A. Renfroe & Co, an Alabama based insurance firm, teamed with State Farm Insurance Co. to acknowledge or deny insurance claims for Hurricane Katrina victims.  Richard “Dickie” Scruggs, an attorney, has filed suit against the insurance companies, alleging the companies manipulated engineers’ reports on damages, providing the insurer with the ammunition to wrongfully deny insurance claims.  Mr. Scruggs managed to recruit two former State Farm employees to aid his search for the truth.  Cori and Kerri Rigsby, the two former State Farm employees, provided Mr. Scruggs with a plethora of internal State Farm documents and records that confirm his suspicions.

E.A. Renfroe & Co., in turn, filed a lawsuuit against the two sisters, contending they broke the law by providing Mr. Scruggs with such information.  Perhaps they did; however, these two insurance companies broke several more serious laws.  Due to the insurance companies’ failure to follow the law, several thousand families have been negatively effected, robbed, in fact, of money owed to them.  Due to Cori’s and Kerri’s compliance with Mr. Scruggs’s wishes (providing him with private documents and records), these two insurers will be brought to justice.  These two women should not be punished, they should be cherished.  They’re heroines!  They’ve brought to light the unethical acts that the insured often fear.  Can a lawsuit against the Rigsby sisters hold water in court?  If so, should it?  Who’s the worst of the criminals here?
